I'm old fashioned, if rather own a physical disc copy that I will have forever. Digital copies will only last as long as the PSN/XBOX networks exist to redownload if your console dies. Discs will last a long time and and are better collector items.

Technically, you still only own a license. It's just more difficult to stop you playing.

Hard drives aren't permanent either, trust me.

 

Small moving parts and sensitive magnetic surfaces are a failure waiting to happen. Maybe with a SSD you'd be alright for a while but even then, nothing beats a disc.

Well yeah because the only thing that can stop me playing is:

 

A) The console stops working

 

B) The disc stops working

 

(or, and this last option only applies to Online games and is inevitable)

 

C) Game servers go down rendering online portions unplayable.

 

 

Thankfully, as long as I have a disc and a console, the console will play all aspects of the game that don't require an internet connection. Destiny is one of those games that, sadly, even a physical copy will be rendered useless when the servers go down.

so you guys, you mean I can pre-order digital on PS4, and it'll start downloading then I can play instantly on midnight on Tuesday??!?!?

 

(I also figure that it's like £5 more expensive than if I go and buy a physical copy since that'd involve train fares.... )

Like I stated in the physical or digital thread, all my games on PS4 have been digital. Not because I think digital is better, I don't care about that. Its just that I'm too lazy to go to GameStop. Its that simple.

His name is Abdul and he's due to deliver in 30 minutes, despite the map showing he's literally three streets away.. then again, he's got another 35 deliveries before mine...

I can more than sympathise.. used to do nights myself.. worst I ever did was three weeks straight... didn't know who I was afterwards and then had a dickhead of a manager who didn't realise he owed me a month's additional pay since I'd worked half a month extra effectively at double rate (if 2 weeks nights = one months work..)

 

Abdul is stalling with delivery 42.. He's about five minutes from me.. if I was on the roof I could probably spit on him.

exactly, though I jacked in nights years ago.. working in a big city at night during the summer ruined me.. specially if going to the pub afterwards/having to live on a main road where sirens blared 24/7.

 

Though in terms of job masochism, I one had to do a 33 hour shift.. less said about that, the better.
