I know right! It's super smooth and the cars look stunning. Same with the reflections on buildings at night. Literally leaps and bounds better than last gen version.

Next-gen xbox one grass seems to be the same. Those images I saw here earlier are complete lies.

EDIT: Ok it seems in some locations xbox one has less grass but the xbox one version seems to more colourful as where the PS4 version has more grass. Sorry for the mistake. At least we know both consoles have positives and negatives.

I can't wait for servers to not be acting like ass. So far I've gotten in one fifteen person server... And everyone but me crashed all at the same time five minutes later.

 

 

 

Aside from that and the very little I've been able to actually play it, it's MUCH better than last gen(though I haven't played since last December). There's tons more traffic and people, rain and lighting effects are also the exact same. Not to bothered by animals though it would be cool to hunt with friends but no big deal.

So, two days in and I'm happy I made the change, everything looks and sounds heaps better. I've been getting some connection errors and time outs but it's still early days I guess. My only gripe is with the bike physics, I love doing bmx stunt races, but there's been a slight change in the wheelie/ gliding physics again which makes a bunch of my favorites unplayable. Damn it.

 

As far as lobby population goes, was in a lobby of 22 this morning, most I've seen so far.

 

Oh and FPV... WOW. I knew it would make the game feel different but damn...

Apart from how much I love it and how much I'm amazed :D

 

FPV in the cars took some getting used to but the practice is worth it, FPV on the bikes is purely epic. Well done Rockstar, you've made me pay for two versions of GTAV and I don't care. The first one was worth a years' play and the second one.... g*dDAMN :D:D

According to DigitalFoundry, the grass is generally richer/lusher in the PS4 version, while the Xbone version is not quite as verdant (although still an improvement over 360/PS3) - apparently, this was done to have both at 1080p and a capped, consistent 30fps. Wonder if the lack of extra tinsel on the details means there's less to render at speed on the Xbone - might mean that the PS4 speed cap doesn't apply to the Xbone version...

 

Also, you're right - the colour saturation is richer on the Xbone (which tends to be darker and/or more colour-saturated than PS4 anyway - Destiny being another good example), making it closer to the colour/lighting of the older-gen versions. Also, the added lens flares seen in the PS4 trailers (which I really didn't like the look of, personally - same way I hate it being over-used in movies) aren't in the Xbone version, either, which (IMO) is a positive.

 

 

In other words, there's a minor graphical downgrade for the Xbone in terms of extra foliage objects compared to PS4, and lighting on the PS4 is noticeably different to the older-gen versions, whereas it's more or less unchanged on the Xbone.

Tried online for the first time last night. The character transfer went very smooth, without a hitch. Couldn't join a public lobby at all (kept timing out) but invite only was fine but would not send any invites when starting a job. I was eventually able to join a couple of jobs by going on call which both had 1 other low ranked player that thought it would be nice for them to sit back and let me do the work lol.

 

I decided to just solo a few, one of them being "Cleaning the Cat House" and low and behold, Anna still has Lester's voice ffs. Martin kept offering me "Effing Lazers" but I imagine that's still borked as well so I declined the offer :).

 

Enjoying the first person view though, just need to get a bit more used to it, but I could imagine it being fun in a full lobby. Was also pleased to see my flying and strength stats max out before my eye's, cheers R*. I'll get my teeth into it at the weekend when I have more time.

Damn man, I feel bad for you guys outside the United States.. I managed to get my copy for $30, although part of a trade-in deal happening this week at Target.

 

My first impression with first-person mode: so much fun!! It's such a game-changer from the vibe we were so used to in third-person. I actually died in the prologue on free-aim. :p

And there won't be anytime soon unless R* increases the bandwidth cap from the 256/64 It is now.

Motorcycle stunting seems okay. I'm no worse than I was before (quite bad).

 

Sniping from the top of the Devin Weston hangar, stopping people getting into the airport, was fun thanks to the increased draw distance.

 

I haven't even explored the countryside yet, but the enhanced visuals are really adding to my enjoyment of the city.
