Lelouch The Zero
Ah, yes. I remember I couldn't get the damn trailer to load on the site because everyone was watching the trailer and it must have overloaded from too many people watching. Took me 2 hours before I could see it. Good times......Bad times.
ludvigR
I literally dedicated my life to refreshing rockstar newswire after seeing the first trailer.. hard to believe it was 3 years ago, really feels like yesterday OneManCrimeWave, IveGotNoValues and theGTAking101
MrDeSanta
I`ve never watched a single pre-release trailer. I just can`t stand to watch something if i know i can`t play it myself yet. All it do is arousing me and makes me madd lol. I am the type of person who can`t stand to watch something i can`t own or don`t own yet. I also wasn`t on any GTA hype train yet. It is nothing better than get a hold of brand new GTA title without knowing a thing of it before. You discover all by yourself and that way you`re never disapointed. Those trailer pics and vids are picked up so carefully that they almost always look at least 10% better as they actually look when you play it for yourself. So i don`t care for trailers and pre-release hype. When the game is out on the shells i just buy it and see for myself. Then after i already own it and play it then i do watch the YT trailers and have some fun with reading the coments. GTA_fear and V12599

saintsrow
I literally dedicated my life to refreshing rockstar newswire after seeing the first trailer.. This would have been hell on a mythological scale. I can't imagine the continued, repeated, bitter disappointment, day after day, week after week, month after month, that you must have felt, hitting "refresh" and seeing no change, except for occasional breathless announcements for a new Max Payne 3 trailer. dear god To subject yourself to the constant, daily, futile hope for info from Rockstar marketing would be like the worst psychological torture imaginable. I'm surprised (and glad!) that you can still function. My mind would have been broken. However, I did dedicate my life to following the GTAV forum throughout those lost years, and that helped keep me sane and grounded through those long dark times, which I will never forget nor forgive. BrokenLizard
The first few seconds, i was like "OH MY GOD VICE CITY" then i was like "oh its san andreas...." I still dont understand why they made San Andreas instead of Vice City, because VC would be the next one on the list, not SA. SA most likely had the most potential to be remade on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for making an ambitiousness map, having a large amount of wilderness and city. Yeah, but in some ways I would rather have a slightly smaller map with more enterable buildings. After recently beating San Andreas again, I would have loved for V to have even a few of the side missions SA had.. I wish we at least had breaking & entering burglaries still!!! PhoGarrett
Has anyone ever taken into consideration how slow and mild the first trailer was compared to the fast-paced and lightning style editing to the NG trailer? I suppose the first trailer was slowed down to allow people to absorb the scenery and colorful characters more. oCrapaCreeper
They failed at every single thing that trailer represented. What exactly did that trailer represent? The most complained about difference I see is the fancy camera work at the Chilliad scene to avoid the highway, and less trees. I suppose the first trailer was slowed down to allow people to absorb the scenery and colorful characters more. The first GTA IV trailer was fairly slow-paced too, and similar in other ways: (almost) no story or mission footage, mostly just the world up and running with peds and vehicles, the player characters being moved around a little, and protagonist narration about coming to this city. J-B
Man, my life has really improved since then. Feels like forever ago. I really hope we get smaller windows between announcement & release for Rockstar's future projects. I'm fine with 4-5 years of pure silence if it means we get a release no more than 8 months after it's announcement. saintsrow

covall
An idea of Vice City did cross my mind while seeing the lifeguard booth but it dissapeared immediately during the very next scene. Besides, after watching the whole trailer I was like: "If Los Santos is so huge and diversed I just cannot imagine the whole area including San Fierro and Las Venturas " I was definately being a dreamer that moment
ghostrider135
The trailer makes me sad, It looked so bright and vibrant and full of life, I got a soggy sponge in comparison, R* where is the game you made for the trailer coz GTA V aint it. Well there are probably 3 reasons for it; 1. The trailer pics and vids are picked so carefully that they always look better than the actual game when you play it. 2. you play it on some crappy TV 3. you`ve already get used to it by playing for a long periods of time so it doesn`t have the same "wow" effect on you anymore Playing the new gen V on a decent screen will bring that blast effect back again. But of course, the more you play it the more you get accustomed to it so it doesn`t fel so awesome anymore.

I do indeed have a crap TV but that said even Blackflag looks amazing on it so the TV itself isn't really that much of an issue, Even playing Vice city way back when and I played that alot it always popped always looked shiny and bright and wow, Maybe I'm stuck in the past and hoped R* would perform the same trick on V as they had on Vice. Oh man you wouldn`t believe how the TV is important at playing these games. The diference is huge even between 720p or 1080p TV (for new gen V) let alone if you play it on some CRT TV. You`ll get the most out of a game if you play it on the screen which is the game designed for. Like old gen V on 720p and new gen V on 1080p. Of course it will look like crap if you play a 1080p designed game on some SD lol But once you`ll play it on it`s compatible screen you`ll be amazed by it`s looks. Cebra
I remember. I had just got home from school, and for some reason I had the urge to play Max Payne 2 on my Xbox. Not sure why, but I did. Later, my mom was on the computer and she asked me if I knew about the trailer for GTA V. I was hyped because I didn't even know it was in the works, so I watched it. That was three years ago?! Kalerney
When the game was officially announced, I was in vacation in Lisbon. I took my phone while I was eating at a very small restaurant, near the Belem Tower, and I saw a message coming from a friend of mine : " GTA V is officially announced, trailer is coming !". I obviously thought it was a joke, then he sent me a link leading to the official news. I was ecstatic ! It was soooo unbelievable and unexpected ! One verrrry slow week later, the trailer was finally here ... I was at the dentist office at that time, and I had turned my phone off so nobody could spoil me the trailer details ... When I went back to my home, I rushed to my computer, then took this screenshot : It's just me, one second before watching the trailer for the first time ! My mind was literally blown away, and I spent countless hours analyzing every single frame of the video !

That was three years ago?! You've got a cool mom. You had the subconscious urge to boot up Max Payne 2 because the Max Payne force was with you. We didn't know it then, but the GTAV trailer was actually the beginning of the Max Payne 3 hype train. Cebra and NintendoFanboy
