ryan_J
I just went to check out the first ever trailer for V since I haven't seen it in a while when I noticed the trailer was released just over 3 years ago! It's insane to think that, it feels like 3 years ago they was announcing the DLC for IV, time goes so fast. It's easy to think that V just kind of shot into existence now we've had out hands on the game for over a year, I often forget about the build up. Sorry if this doesn't appear thread worthy but I think it would be cool if you could all share how you felt once you saw the first trailer and share stories from the build up. GtaFanatik
So assuming that Tommy Vercetti was 35 in 1986, now in 2011 He would have almost 62 years. The guy standing at 0:40 is Tommy, guys. It even has Ray Liotta's voice. Neddo, OneManCrimeWave, Blisteryship006 and 8 others

saintsrow
When the announcement was made on 25 October 2011 about the new trailer, my anticipation went nova, like a kid waiting for Christmas. When I saw the first scene in the first trailer on 2 November 2011 and recognized the lifeguard station design from Santa Monica / Venice Beach, it was like the holy light shining down from above - we're returning to San Andreas!!! I was energized! I was all set to have a wonderful time checking out the Forum and hearing new info from Rockstar in the months ahead, as we all expected GTAV to be released by the Summer of 2012. Instead we experienced Rockstar's 2012 year of marketing silence hell, where we were almost completely ignored and neglected. More thoughts on this topic by people here on the Forum are included in my "So here we are, 3 years later" thread (shamelessly linked for your edification). ..GhosT
The first few seconds, i was like "OH MY GOD VICE CITY" then i was like "oh its san andreas...." I still dont understand why they made San Andreas instead of Vice City, because VC would be the next one on the list, not SA.

SA most likely had the most potential to be remade on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for making an ambitiousness map, having a large amount of wilderness and city. TheMisanthrope
To be perfectly honest I was speechless. I had to come back to this negative hell hole called GTAForums and became a lurker again from that point on until I said to hell with it and joined a year later. But man I was stoked after that trailer and the wait for it was complete misery. Every other day I was google searching GTA: V to see if any news would come up and when it didn't I hopped on here in hopes of hearing something new only to find nadda. Their code of silence approach this time around killed me and honestly looking back at it was quite annoying and aggravating yet made the wait worth while in the end. The other trailers added to the hype and the wait then became even longer than the first couple of years and as september was getting closer and closer it got even worse it felt like an eternity. But that midnight of the release was magical. I played the game for a full 30 something hours before finally caving in to sleep. Those trailers though, man did they have me feeling like a 5 year old waiting to open his Christmas presents the next day. I kinda feel like way now waiting for the 18th to roll around. Not nearly as excited as I know what to expect but I'm still looking forward to playing it again. saintsrow and OneManCrimeWave

I also remember that Rockstar once said that they wanted to do Vice City but since the game took place in the present a rendition of modern day Los Angeles was the best choice. Magic_Al
Another observation: this three years may be the longest Rockstar has ever gone without announcing any future non-GTA game. The only unreleased title we know is Agent, announced over five years ago.

Racecarlock
Wasn't so enjoyable for me, I had to keep explaining to people why fuel in cars and jail on every bust and traffic laws would be terrible ideas for GTA's pacing. In fact, I think I became famous on these forums for it. But for me it's a simple principle. I don't want fuel in games for the same reasons I don't want having to do your taxes, go to the bathroom, and reams of paperwork in video games. It's tedious and incredibly dull. golf wang
HuskyTwitter
I remember watching this over and over again, just excited that we were in the midst of a new GTA. I don't know about anyone else, but I just get a different feel from this trailer than the actual game. I can't quite explain it, but the feels were strong.
