What would persuade you to upgrade?

If the improvement to GTA v isn't a good enough argument to upgrade consoles, what will be the trigger for you to upgrade?

I think I'll upgrade pretty soon but either Mass Effect 4, or L.A.Noire 2 would cause me to instantly upgrade.

For me at the moment GTA is the only game I'm interested in on current generation.

What are your thoughts?

Bought an Xbone three days after the E3 announcement just for GTA V.

 

Did the same with Wii U and Smash.

I think this is a fine topic. I assumed that it was in context of GTA0, but that's fine. I am glad to see an LA Noire fan who would like the atmosphere and the late 1940's world re-creation so well that it would be a cause for upgrade.

 

Since I plan to get GTAV for PC, I can't quite be compelled to upgrade to PS4 just for GTAV alone. But if / when a console game comes out (from Rockstar or anyone else) that actually has all the depth and richness that I expected based on the GTAV trailers, that would get me to upgrade.

Certainly not a handful of cars, better graphics and foliage system, a sea plane and more traffic that cannot drive properly. FPV will be a waste of time for me since it's not GTA style and doesn't feel right. Oh yes and more music.

 

I'll wait until some decent stuff comes along before I'll upgrade. The more I think about it the more boring it becomes - loss of motivation on stupid stuff being added to the game. A plane that lands on water, there are only small areas in amongst the land that you can land the thing and of course the sea which is miles from everything.

 

Where's the hydra, jetpack, north yankton? Where are heists? Where are the stuff that players have been begging for since the release?

It's already done, and for me it was three things:

 

1. GTA Online's framerate barely stands up straight on the last gen systems

 

2. The first person view; It is the one thing whose neglect always nagged me ever since GTA 3

 

3. My PS3 is getting really old. It's noisy, and consoles today aren't like your basic Super Nintendo. PS3's and 360's will never last 20+ years of regular use

I'm probably going to wait until the price of the console goes down a bit. Also, a lot of the people I mostly play with don't have an Xbone so I might wait until they have it as well. I do love the way the new GTA will look, but I'm not sure if I'd go first person or not. I would have to experiment first to see what I would like, but I'm sure I probably like the third person better.

Yeah, not planning to upgrade my system anytime soon, I bought a new PS3, the game and a TV on the original release day. Plus the fact that you can't play PS3 games on PS4 is one of the reasons I'll rather wait till the newer consoles are a bit cheaper, so I can keep both.

If you're talking about games that would get me to upgrade, Max Payne 4 and Mass Effect 4 would get me to run to a store right f*cking now. And really, EA, what the f*ck happened at the end of Mass Effect 3?? You bastards.

 

But on topic of the forums (sort of)...I'm upgrading to an XB1 mainly for the new GTA, well some other games too but GTAV being the main one..

Barman Arkham Knight, it was originally meant to be out now but pushed til June 2015 (I would have got it Xmas time), which for me is good time to upgrade and play the games I have yet to play on the 360.

Getting a fat 2.5K cheque off the bank for mis-selling me something a few years back has been the biggest motivation for upgrading to a PS4 (on Monday next week to be precise..)

 

Also, you have to figure that things like first-person are going to make the game feel very different, let alone the complete overhaul of the graphics/world..

 

And one thing that I'm really looking forward to is being able to record footage.. so that I can snitch on tards that use glitches/wall-glitches etc.

 

Had one this morning managed to wall-glitch him and his buzzard into the building right next to the heliport.. >.<

 

(though he wasn't happy when I got back to my apartment nad watched him on TV.. see, if I had a PS4, I'd be recording that shlt and sending it to Rockstar ASAP.. with this kind of power, next-gen might be less laden with tards and cheats.. here's hoping..)
