Solving the NPC driving.

Since there's no way R* is fixing their NPC drivers A.I. the solution is in the players.

Make it that if a car is approaching a player this one can press X/Square + Any direction to dodge it. The character would roll or dive to the ground saving him/herself, like in real life. I don't see how is this hard, i don't know anything about game developing but i've seen pedestrians do this, and it will fit perfectly since we all know that fainting for 10 seconds when a NPC car touches you is just frustrating.

Edit: Sorry for the title, this is not a solution for NPC driving but rather a solution for the NPC drivers running us over with their Issies :)

GTA vice city had this little function, however you were on the ground for about the same amount of time your character usually is if you fell over minus the wait of your character rolling on the floor trying to get themselves up again. so i guess it would be helpful

It was clunky, and we'd all just probably have the dive animation the AI has.

But yeah, I actually want that. Looking both ways before crossing doesn't cover aggressive NPC.

One thing I didn't discover in Vice City until recently. Once I found out I was so excited I kept on purposely doing it.

Look both ways before you cross the street

I always do this and never get hit. And it only takes 2 seconds. Sorry op, but leave your suggestion out of the game. Subtracts realism imo.

Looking both ways doesn't always work with the car spawning system.

What do you mean by this? Cars spawn right in front of you?

You look left, then look right, by the time you start to cross a car spawns from the left (because you looked right). Try it on the motorway.

What I usually do is look left, walk towards middle, look right, run to sidewalk. That's probably why I don't get hit. And you don't always have to look left/right because you can view the entire street and run across. FYI if you hear explosions, sirens, and gun shots, prepare for speeding vehicles.

I feel like Op's idea is dumbing the game down even more. No thanks. Never got hit buy a car because I look left/right, use common sense, etc.

the incident i had today in paleto bay kinda fits this thread in a way, i found a truck that i wanted, it's not listed in where you can buy em.

it was a bobcat xl extended cab with a canopy.

as soon as i take off in it an npc in another bobcat xl starts shooting at me, so i start and he rear ends me and i try to defend myself, and when the cops show up they see me defending myself and of course they attack me!

the cops in gtao are assholes!

I thought this thread would be about the abominably unrealistic NPC driving behavior. Yeah, that's totally normal for an oncoming car to swerve LEFT INTO you when they see you oncoming at them. Yeah, that totally is how people act in the real world. I hated that when I saw it the first day I played the offline game, and I still hate it very much. GTA4 did a lot of things better than 5. Like you can turn cops off in free mode, for another example, but I digress.

The only NPC that ever knocked me down was Black Sentinel guy, and after the first time, I learned to pull out my assault shotgun upon loading in so I could shoot him in the face as he drove by.

Isnt it amazing how many people cant realize this concept? In theory, this concept debunks this entire forum, but according to R* logic, the A.I make habit of swerving into your driving path and spawning in front of you. Besides, the A.I don't really know their road rules that well...

don't forget the npc drivers who make illegal u turns at the worst times, or npc's who leave their cars on the freeway (i crashed into one of them at full speed once)!

I don't see how a dodging animation would "dumb the game down". It's just another defensive mechanic.

It would mostly be used to avoid getting run down in Online. Sounds fine to me.

Online, with the lunatic NPCs, personally id say stay in a car or in the air. (Providing you dont wanna play chicken)

I actually started doing this a while ago and have not been knocked down whilst doing it. Problem solved.

Miss Malevolent

Hmm, I thought they were going to give you the option to turn ragdoll off with the latest version?

And how would that work? Do you just instantly stand back up when hit or something?

Npc drivers are doing what they've been programmed to do.

They're not broken

What? To swerve into anything they see within driving distance of them? To randomly spawn and hit you because they were too f*cking stupid to brake or even slow down?

They are broken.

something else i should add.

the only things in the game with actual human intellect speed down surface streets at MINIMUM 150 mph.

and highways so fast they pop a sonic boom as they pass someone just from the air pressure.

im just happy the npcs dont do this.

There is times where the cars are lagging. They drive weirdly and they ram you stronger than usual.
