cant join anyone?

i tried joining a public lobby several times and it timed out every time

 

i tried an invite only session and it loaded up then i tried a new session. timed out and kicked me offline

 

now i have an invite only session but every quick job i join makes me the host with no invites going out. why can i only play alone?

update: i just accepted an invitation and eventually i got a message saying unable to connect to session

You seem to have a (really) bad connection. I'd suggest taking a look at this: http://gtaforums.com/topic/692081-fixing-lag-issuesconnection-timeouts/

 

The reason for the "playing alone" is that the matchmaking doesn't want to match up people with different pings (or whatever) so that everyone has a "smooth" experience.
