Why a no-kill lobby is needed.

the likelihood of trolling in this thread is immense, especially now that I've acknowledged it, so let's be the mature ones and not respond to it at all, eh?

 

Why a passive lobby is needed:

 

As an optional "vacation" from the ongoing war in the streets of Los Santos, players could have access to an optional passive lobby where everyone is in God mode and money, RP and insurance do not apply. Armored trucks, Simeon vehicles and other free roam missions are disabled.

 

This will allow players to, aside from limiting their player contact to a private lobby, explore the map and do cool stunts and have their car shows and such without the threat of being killed repeatedly.

 

This mode would give players a place to go when they want to set up a huge stunt, have a 16 or 30 player car chase, or do whatever they can come up with without an intrusive player running Ning everything.

 

You would think private lobbies would solve this problem, but that eliminates one important element - the randomness of meeting new players.

 

Only players with a good sport rating would be allowed in. Think of it as the opposite of a bad sport lobby, where normal free roam is the middle ground.

 

The argument of "you only want this because you're afraid of getting killed" will be brought up, and it will be ignored, because it's ridiculous. I don't think anyone is afraid to be killed in a video game. It's just that some of us would like a chance to meet new players without the pretext of a hostile situation.

 

Think about it. How often do you make new friends in this game? Probably not too often unless you're both fighting the same enemy.

 

Why? It's because when another player comes near you, you know one of two things will happen - they will try to kill you, or you will try to kill them.

 

Approaching a player and honking your horn as a signal of friendliness rarely works.

 

Now, create a passive mode lobby where you CAN'T kill on sight... And you'll find a new way to enjoy the game with strangers. Instead of killing each other, you'll spend a day at the beach jumping ramps or doing bike tricks. You'll spend hours in the airport creating ridiculous airplane stunts, or try to skydive into a pool, or whatever else you can come up with.

 

This can't be argued against. That's not a challenge, it's just the truth. The existence of a passive mode lobby harms nobody and to those who don't want it, they won't even know it exists. So how can anyone say NO to this?

You make it sound like it's hard to get away from griefers,which it isn't. If someone is killing you,just go away,or change sessions.

I wonder where GTAO would be if R* added every single thing the community - thought - was - good - .

Adding something like this would be even more pointless than ATMs in GTAO. If you don't wanna get killed join private or invite only and don't play with other people. GTAO is that kind of game where you get rewarded for killing other players.

OP, absolutely good point. The more working features the better. I think GTA IV options should be resurrected in V: police, friendly fire, traffic.

I don't get why some people can be against it, it's optional feature. On the other hand, with all that cash cards.... You know the drill from here, don't you?

It's not at all pointless to the people that would use it.

 

You clearly don't understand - this isn't a means of running away from being griefed, this is a means of playing the game in an entirely different and equally as fun way which currently isn't possible.

 

You didn't even read the post. Having the element of random players makes the game exciting, but since everyone's first instinct is to kill, you miss out on a lot of fun opportunities. Invite only or playing alone doesn't help.

 

It's not like it would be hard for rockstar to implement. Change a few lines of code and add a menu option.

 

You never have to use it, why are you against it?

You were bothered enough to speak out against it. I just don't understand why it bothers you so much. Why can't we have this lobby? If you would never use it, why are you so against it? How does it affect you?

Just go make a invite lobby and invite everyone who agrees with you.

I used to do this with the BF Surfer Crusiers. We'd just roll those busses. No killing. 9/10 times it worked.

Seems like I had this same conversation last night. Use the tools (options(thanks teammate assist) ) available.

 

I don't see the need for rockstar to implement some new coding that could screw up all lobbies when you already can do what you want.

You just refuse to.

I did read it. I thought maybe you didn't actually know you could make your own lobby, populate it with players who want to play the way you want and have a grand ol time.

You didn't read it. I have stated why it needs to be an open lobby. Also, how can this screw up all lobbies? Bad sport lobbies seem to function just fine.

Only the FreeRoamWarriors will be against this idea.

Or maybe even a better idea: Friendly Fire Off lobbies, just like IV. Everybody is in Ghost Mode like in races.

Again, the ability for random players to join is VITAL and invite only lobbies obviously don't allow for that. Most fun I ever had was driving a bus around a picking up random players. Got 5 before someone blew us up, then it was a street war after that.

Invite only is for playing friendly with people you know. This would allow you to do that with strangers, thus making new friends. Also, you are only rewarded for killing in free roam if the player has a bounty. Ammo costs and insurance actually punish you for killing. It's only encouraged in specific circumstances, playing free aim as a deathmatch is a money sink.

i'm not gonna make myself popular with this so I'm going to be subtle

certain choices regarding monetization made by R* prevent this from happening any time soon

which is a shame cuz outside of this there's literally no reason for them to not give us the ability to change settings for private games

friendly fire would like changing a 0 to a 1 in some script somewhere

Invite only is for playing friendly with people you know. This would allow you to do that with strangers, thus making new friends. personal preference aside gta 4's friendly fire option wasn't completely worthless

had some great fun in FF=OFF free mode games

don't see how it would be any different here.

A no-kill lobby is not needed. Use passive mode and learn how to avoid other players. Rockstar even give you a map to help with this! It's hardly difficult.
