No.

Stop complaining about stupid things and let them get on with doing the stuff the majority actually wants.

Details make the experience. Also, as I explained this is easily fixed, in fact they've probably done more work to disable it.

You did not explain. Please explain. How is it done?

Just by allowing us to access the Social Club data when we log in, regardless of platform. I know it works because that's the system it uses to allow for transfers in the first place, they've probably done more work in limiting it. It's all explained, I don see how i could've made it any simpler. I know I'm not the best writer, but try to comprehend what I'm reading, if you disagree or have objections I'd be happy to discuss it with you.

this thread title should be changed to "first world problems". I feel so bad for you, you have a PS4 and an Xbox One :bored:

I think you're heavily misunderstanding what the social club actually is. It's merely a website where we can access information and stats on the games we have registered there. It's nothing more than a GUI. The real information will be held on multiple servers and the data for the social club site will be periodically gathered from the real data which will be vast in comparison.

Also, it's most likely not a simple case of changing a platform ID and it works. There will be a lot more to the characters on the new gen version, and there could easily be many complications that we, as outsiders, simply do not know.

I understand it sounds like a simple task, but without first-hand knowledge on the specifics of what is stored and how it's stored then you can do nothing more than guess. Also, don't use common sense when trying to decide what they can and can't do. With the little I have seen of the source code (albeit a decompilation, not the actual source code), I know for a fact that there are varying levels of developers working on this, and they are coding to the lowest common denominator - the worst programmers they have. (You've all seen evidence of that, where a fix breaks something else.)

If you have some actual information from someone at Rockstar that sheds light on any of the above then I'd love to see it!

Irrelevant to go into the details of the coding process, the point is it is saved on the cloud. Thus, when logging in you access and download said files, nothing is stored on the console. This is tied to your Social Club login. The factor is changing what has access to these files, I'm not even implying progress is after once again updated.

Also, I'm not using common sense, it's simple logic - milking your knowledge for conclusions via problem solving, not adding unnecessary information to conclude something you already have access to.

Perhaps you're right, but none of what you said applies here, not on the level you described.

Additionally, I'm not referring to Social Club as the website itself, it is indeed the visual representation of such stats, but the Social Club system heavily relies on the cloud base, most people don't have knowledge in this. Once again, you're going off too irrelevant grounds. Anyway, if that might not have been clear, I apologize and hope more people see this explanation.

If you're sincerely interested I'd recommend discussing it in a new suggestion thread (in another sub forum of course) - not sure if there is a thread for this still, have been off this site for a few years. If all runs well, consider emailing Rockstar, but this isn't the forum for that discussion

Everything I said is relevant. I know what I'm talking about so I tried to explain to you why it is most likely a LOT more complicated than you think. Seriously, there is a lot more to it. It's not in a cloud somewhere. It's in a database server, in a room that's probably full of racks of database servers. I can go technical if you really want, and explain in detail why I know what I'm talking about, and why what you say does not make sense, but quite frankly I don't want to bore some of the people on here with it (many, I couldn't care less).

You have no conception whatsoever about how big a task this could actually be. I'm not trying to argue or belittle you. I'm just telling you you're wrong.

Seeing as how you shelled out for both systems the way it is, you're obviously not suffering from shallow pockets.

Just buy the game for every system, and then GFY! Have a nice day. :)

There will probably be a glitch that lets you transfer more than once anyways so...

But yeah, I'm kind of bummed. I want a PS4, but I might get an Xbox One to play with my Xbox friends once Master Chief Collection fever dies down.

i'll have to start from the bottom but, eh, them's the breaks.

Once again, carefully think about what you're writing. E.g. "It's in a database server, in a room that's probably full of racks of database servers" - stop explaining core basics, this does not have any importance on this subject. If you had a problem with the way someone poured milk in a glass you wouldn't go into the method of milking a cow, would you?

Also, I have no reason to trust you in this, neither does anyone else. Writing you have knowledge in this and throwing big words of zero importance doesn't convince anyone of either your point or what you're claiming to be. I can run around yelling I'm god, saying the end is near, but no one will believe me unless I put on some thunder.

If you still believe you are you must believe me when I say I also understand the server system, but technical specifications of sending data has no relevance here. It is a procedure used to even perform slightest online tasks, this is just when it's used. It's already used for this action, only once. I think you might not understand what exactly it is I want to do - (simplified) accessing something that's already been done.

Think of it as a baking scenario. You're baking cookies for your mother, you've been doing it for a year and two months. All of a sudden you're asked to bake cookies for your sister, you do. It's a difference, but nothing changes, you make cookies the exact same way. In a while it turns out the cookies you've been baking for your sister were sent out for your brother too, without you're knowledge. You're surprised but obviously it's not relevant. You just make cookies to whoever wants them. The cookies are still as delicious as ever and you've always kept your recipe. Crappy example I know, haha, but it shows my point.

If you still disagree, please send me a message explaining your objections, Maybe you're right but you must realize that reading your comments with an objective mind and a "lack of experience within this field" as you obviously suspect I have doesn't help prove your point or verify anything.

I'm not going to PM you about this as I'm not discussing it with you any further. If you know anything about the data structure that this information is held in then you can discuss this with knowledge, as that is the core technical concern behind this whole transfer. Saying you don't want to talk about "core basics", as you put it (actually the most important and fundamental part of any system, hence the use of the word "core"), is simply ignoring the actual major factors.

I know this to be the case and have tried to explain, but you don't want to hear it.

Did you really need to add all those asterisks? Confused me.. Thank god there was a tldr.

On topic: yea it should be able to save between both as it would be connected to social club. But I ain gonna shower R* with an email because I'm pretty sure R* only added LEDs because it was something to make the game better.

I know this to be the case and have tried to explain, but you don't want to hear it.

Enjoy the clouds.

Read my updated post. I posted an explanation for you. By core basics I mean core basics of a system that works well, regardless of who is using it. Just changing the receiver of a letter you're about to send doesn't make the postal office slow down their trucks. It's still the same process as ever, on this level. The mail gets delivered. Im talking about things that get used either way. The servers and the player are always communicating. In this example the mail would get delivered anyway, you changing the receiver is more work for yourself than for them.

Then try to explain what you claim you so much know. In your own spirit - "What have you tried to explain? I still don't know". Im sorry and I'm not hostile, it's just that you have not posted any content, just words saying you think I'm wrong, that's all. No explanation, no reassurance, nothing.

I'm going to claim a "Furry_Monkey" and stop this conversation right here. Please leave and stop tormenting this thread, even if you are essentially correct. I reached you my hand by allowing you to PM me an explanation with dignity about your concern but you spit on it. I have nothing left to amuse you with.

Sorry about the analogies.

Fair enough. It wouldn't hurt though, we can at least get an answer. I do understand if you don't want to though and you do have a point.

Sorry about the asterisks, I originally posted this on Reddit and the format would allow for bold style between double asterisks and italics between single ones.

The reason that there is only one transfer is for the fear of people going to PC and modding billions, and then transferring it back to their console account. I don't understand why they could just separate the PC and Consoles to solve that problem.

I would also very much like to transfer my character to both PS4 and PC.

Will you quickly write an email to Rockstar showing your concern? Use our simple template! We will get results, either in just an explanatory answer or the final product.

Seeing as how you shelled out for both systems the way it is, you're obviously not suffering from shallow pockets.

yeah because the console versions sure showed us XD

sure R* does their best to fix things as they come in but there's still people modding the game

pc won't be any different, if anything it's going to be worse.
