Get rid of the GTAO progress transmission limit

TL;DR: Are you, like me, annoyed that character transfer is only available once? Do you want to use your current GTA:O progress on a new gen console and PC? I've spent the last week contemplating which of the new gen consoles I should dedicate the re-release of GTA V for. I've owned both the X1 and the PS4 since Jan and love them for their individual strengths. I've had periods where I've been leaning towards one console only to flip sides short after. Needless to say I'm essentially on square one. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Especially considering many PC players who also own a new gen console don't want to wait to continue their GTA:O progress until Jan

 

This problem lies in the frankly idiotic decision to only allow for progress transfer once. I have different friends and player bases on both consoles. Both of which I want to share the GTA experience with. - And the sad part is the one link between them has been tossed away.

 

Social Club (SC). To my knowledge, this could be easily changed to allow for instant transfer via SC. As long as both versions are not run simultaneously. For example, this is the system the Xbox One uses for profiles (and save games) - all is saved on Xbox Live. If you log into your XBL account on a different console all of your save data and profile preferences are there instantly. It's as if your entire home X1 has been moved. Why? Because Microsoft have done this properly.

 

How do I know this? They use the same system to enable single transfers in the first place - transfers across network services (PSN, XBL) are possible. I also conclude that a lack of cloud storage is no issue as all progress is saved there in the first place - this would not take up more space. The only difference is who can access them.

 

Now what I need you guys for is the easy part. I want us to start a movement to change this. I want us shower Rockstar with emails. I want change. A similar movement was constructed on GTA Forums in 2011 to change the bulb police lights to LEDs - successfully.

 

You can either write your own email right now (if so, it'd be helpful if you shared it as a template in the comments) or use our template. It can be as short as you want. Just remember to name it I want to be able to transfer my GTA:O progress across platforms infinite times.

Although I support the cause, I will be more of a sofa voter, I haven't managed to get one, let alone both of the new gen consoles yet.

 

I would like to ask, does anyone know what happens if you simply unlink your sc and re link to a different account, question applies to same and different consoles?

I am guessing social club probably times out and makes you play single player.

i mean, i dont know a person that have the same game for ps4, xbone and pc, heck i dont know a person with xbone.

 

the options are there, be thankful that after all the glitching an stuff they would allow us to transfer the progress.

The reason you can transfer is the fact GTA Online that we have now is the whole new Multiplayer for GTA games from GTA 5 and onwards, if people read what rockstar said when the game came out then you woud put 1 and 1 together.

 

GTAO will carry over to the future GTA games so we need to transfer to newer consoles to keep our stats and how far we have got in the game.

 

UNLESS: Everyone would rather start GTAO from level 1 and $0 GTA$, no weapons (apart from the pistol you get) etc,

 

Just be thankful that rockstar are doing this for us, cause we all know that at least 50% of the GTAO players don't deserve to have their GTAO characters due to them being (modders, idiots within missons and stopping people play the game properly).

 

Actually just be thankful they are binging it out on PS4/Xbox One as they was not planning to do it to start with.

To start with, no, as these consoles werent even thought of when V was first conceived. But dont kid yourself, R* knew even before the original release last year that it was coming to the new consoles. They kept their mouths shut as to not hurt sales numbers on the ps360 versions.

Loads of people seem to be concerned about this, how is this any more convenient with this system than it is now? Doesn't affect that aspect in any way.

 

Also for people claiming this will be open for abuse without an explanation, that's a terrible philosophy. That's like a deaf man refusing hearing aids because he's afraid they won't work.

I think I was pretty straight forward, but iId honestly be happy to explain it if you don't properly understand or if you find a hole in my reasoning. I don't want to be right, I want what's best for the community.

Glad to see you're one of the few to understand the concept. I agree, but what's frustrating is how easily fixed this is.

 

I dont agree on the glitching part though. We are not "entitled" to play their game, they are not to say who plays and who doesnt play. We're the community, they rely on us. The glitch cleaning from their part has its roots in their money hungry cash card hunt anyway.

If I'm R*, I'd totally think about a paid character transfer service. One free transfer for the next gen jump is fine and ANOTHER for the PC jump would be appreciated, but any others, a paid transfer service would be wise.
