Car Merchanting

Today I tried something that I've been thinking about for a while exchanging gang cars for cash from low levels and I gotta say it was kinda fun.

 

Getting gang cars to spawn on a consistent basis is the key to this whole equation.

 

Basic Setup:

1) Spawn gang car and sell it as soon as possible.

2) Spawn second gang car and send out proposition via text to some of the low levels in the room "gta merchant -- msg me if you want to make some easy money" ( i sent this message to 3 players and 2 responded)

3) Once you get someone to respond make your deal. I said something to the effect of "send me 3k and I'll make you 13k"

4) Once you get the money, send a confirmation and tell them to meet you at X location where you deliver the goods.

 

Transaction Complete

 

 

A few notes:

1) Obviously this transaction doesnt net you a lot of money but with 2 customers and selling cars myself I made roughly 50k in just over an hour

2) I didnt realize until my first exchange but you cant use the "share % from last job" on cars you sold at LSC so in order to make an exchange they buyer needs to complete a bounty, rob stores, sell hpvs etc. and pay up-front

3) Everyone in GTA is skeptical of a "fair exchange" so this takes a little finesse.

4) Without a controller keyboard this would be annoying as hell

5) Both of the customers were repeat buyers which made me hopeful for making more money by having more customer in a session.

 

If you are just going to comment about this not making enough money, save it. I dont care. I have millions.

 

Curious if anyone has tried this or a similar tactic. Making "honest" money in a game thats based around crime has an interesting sense of satisfaction to it. It also kinda of painted me as some sort of de facto boss with minions doing my bidding.

I've actually done the same thing. For some reason, every time I drive by the LSC by the airport, there are two Felon GT's. I send messages to everybody actually, usually getting around 4-5 customers. I go into passive mode when the deal is taking place, and make them pay upfront (like you). I have 32,887,904 dollars so I don't worry about that. It's just fun. And for pricing I usually ask for 3-4k, depending on the level of the player. A couple of times, my friend called mercenaries on me, hence giving me around 5-6 Mesas. I parked them all in a parking garage, and sold them to players one by one, making almost 75k in 30 minutes. I ended up charging players $6000 for each. It's fun, and I hope this can be improved by Rockstar just letting us transfer funds to another player.

My tactic was patched:

Kids were asking for money and cars for a few months earlier this year.

Kid: can I have a car or money?

Me: yes! I can give you 4 million.

Kid: how?

Me: steal a dominator and fully upgrade it, but don't buy insurance or a tracker.

Kid: ok

Me: ok now I need to put a mod on it

Kid: ok

Me:

Kid: ? Hello?

I already sold the car he just fully modded. I would get 100k sometimes from a single con.

They accidentally patched this when they made it impossible to sell a car miffed by another player.

It is definitely taking some time and effort to get this started but, as it turns out, there are a lot of young and generally dumb players in GTAO.

 

Since my previous method requires a lot of effort of the buyers end (ie chasing down bounties, robbing stores, selling cars etc) Ive started to spin my sale in a slightly different way. Instead of "gta merchant -- msg to make some easy money", I started using "selling rare cars. are you interested".

 

New Process

1. Enter a lobby and make a mental note of all players between level 10 - 40. (as anyone with too high of a level will likely have the mean to obtain anything themselves)

2. Open phone and text one of them your pitch (ex."selling rare cars. are you interested")

3. As long as you dont close your phone the message will save and you can just select the other players and spam your pitch. (great for time saving)

4. Assuming you hook someone, ask them to meet you at a neutral location. Where you arrive in a PV or random car. Never the car you are looking to sell.

5. Invite them back to you garage to peep the inventory (I have one 10car garage that Ive dedicated to this project)

6. Have them select a car and give a price based on bounty prices paid to lester ( 2k, 4k, 6k, 8k, 10k)

7. Have them place a bounty on your head then kill you and use the "share cash" function to give you the money.

8. Complete the transaction by obtaining the requested car and delivering at a set location.

 

Invite multiple people to you garage at the same time to stash money, kind of a group showing if you will.
