street_names Posted November 8, 2014 Share Posted November 8, 2014 I currently own an xbox 360. I only play gta anymore, and I play it a lot with 25 days played on my main character in online. I have seen some graphic comparisons between the new gta and current gta. I am thinking about selling all of my gaming stuff for a new gen with gta. Should I? If so, what console should I go to? Maybe even go to pc... anyway I was wondering what the community thinks. I have been hesitant because I would have to leave my crew as well as my gta buddies. I am leaning towards PS4... From what I read, they plan to release all updates, and new add-ins', on the PS4, and other newer platforms, and only minimal scraps for the older platforms, (i.e.=ps3) This kind of turned me off a bit, and I see this only as a money making scheme, all around. I can not justify upgrading platforms, for some game upgrades, updates, and so called..... better graphics. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and in that regard, i hope I read the news wrongly. Otherwise, I can't imagine many at all, would upgrade platforms, just to get a few beans in GTA5, over other titles, coming out for ps4, and likewise for others. No doubt the idea of playing GTA V in first person, along with the massive overhaul of mechanical and visual fruits leaves me foaming at the mouth just thinking about it. I'd buy a current gen console just to play it myself. I see where you're coming from OP. But to sell all of your games, and your 360 just to get a crack at the game? 'Never such a thought like that, (and will never) cross my mind that's for sure. GTA V is a fun game, and I bet it'll just get better on current gen, but its not enough for me personally to hee-ho all my other games, I like my variety, I like my weak hardware. Honestly, I don't think you should get rid of your 360, I feel you might regret it. I would. Btw, you spoke of PC as an option. I think if PC is an option of yours, you're gonna' want to go with that. Unless you just can't wait to play the remastered edition. Both the PS4 and Xbone wll be running 30 fps and in 1080p I think. And no, i didnt sell my 360, thats so silly! i still play Halo Reach on it. Of course, if you go the PC way itll cost around 900 bucks, if you want the best experience, BUT ITS ALSO A PC with all the things a PC does, and the games are much cheaper on Steam. If you go the PS4 way, well its way cheaper, im sure you could get the money getting a job during Christmas. Or as a Christmas gift. (PD: im in the no-Xbone ship). What console to get? PS4 is the clear winner in my books, and on paper, but get the one that has the exclusives you want. Should you trade in? Personally, i wouldnt. You never get back anywhere close to what you have invested in. Unless you are fearful of it dying, or need the trade in value to be able to afford upgrading, keep your current suff. Now of course if you want to go the PC route, thats entirely your decision. Ive never been a big PC gamer outside of Command & Conquer games. Just not my thing. They tend to cost much more & require costly upgrades much sooner then upgrading consoles. Yes, they can deliver better graphics & mods/upgrades for games, but IMO its not worth the cost. I feel the new consoles will compensate for some of the last gen errors. And I want Gran Turismo 7. Now to the BIG Picture! Some of you are looking at this post backwards. We did not buy a ps4/xone just to play the remastered finished version of gta online. (What is story mode?) we bought a ps4/xone to upgrade our consoles and gta just happens to be a perk. Why would they keep updating obsolete hardware. They are too busy developing for the current gen consoles. I still have my ps3 but im about to sell it because i really no longer have any use for it. I only bought my ps3 to play gta 4 and gta 5 and granturismo 5&6. Im not a huge gamer but i keep up with next gen console just to play my favorite titles. Even though theres alot more to ps4 and xboxone than games. Its technically buying new computers in a sense. Other games will come along that you'll want, and you'll get them. That being said, if you're happy to wait the extra couple of months and have a good PC or are willing to spend the money to get a good PC then that's possibly a better route. It all depends on what you want, at the end of the day. For me, I know the PC version will look a lot better, on an awesome system and with an expensive TV, but I prefer consoles for gaming and I have a 1080p TV, so anything higher than that is pointless. Well said, some of the lardos here and their hate-on for the game on next gen is just retarded. Calling people boring and stupid... Myself I also knew I'd be getting a PS4 sooner or later, it is the clear winner for games in my opinion, Sony just needs to get off their asses and get us our multimedia capabilities back. So yes I have been waiting for that one game to tip me over the edge to buy a new console and this will be it. I've logged hundreds of hours into GTA and online and it's worth every penny. Looking forward to other looming releases as well, in particular Metal Gear Solid. Edit: Also haven't played Last of Us so getting the MS4 bundle to finally jump into that one too. It's not really user-friendly at first but once you get the hang of it it's not that hard to navigate around the menus. Am i excited to player cool 1st person story mode? Sure. But I'm a lot more anxious to see where the online is at. I am still a bit miffed about my single player online Blimp pre-order. :cP I asked Rockstar last week about online and if 99% of these enhancements were for story mode only. I hope you are right but on PS3/360 online was vastly downgraded from story mode, whether graphics, wildlife, available vehicles, pre-order bonuses.
