I'm excited for the possibilities for improvement of the flight dynamics in the next generation. I think R* could make big improvements in the aircraft response to weather with the new weather types. I also hope for more air traffic when actually flying. I'm going to wait until PC to see if there are any changes with the instability of the helicopters in particular. Thought that this was a major flaw of the original and took away a lot of the realism from flying.

 

What is everyone else looking for in the next generation flight?

I'm looking forward to driving my car along the freeway, and look up in the sky far off into the distance and see a plane miles away like I used to see all the time in GTA IV, jet trails and everything. Now in GTA V, the only time you see a plane is when you're sitting at the airport runway watching them land and take off, or the small prop planes that fly a hundred feet off the ground.

 

Also, don't expect the controls to change much. The driving is already confirmed to be the exact same as it was on last gen (thank f*ck for that) and I don't expect the flight to change either. At least with PC you can mod things.

Good point. There's this invisible cloud layer that just appears as you go up past a certain point.

 

Hopefully pc gets volumetric clouds that you can see from the ground and fly through.

Good point. There's this invisible cloud layer that just appears as you go up past a certain point.

 

Hopefully pc gets volumetric clouds that you can see from the ground and fly through.

That's what bugged me most. In San Andreas it was done poorly because those clouds were 2d sprites. I hope if Rockstar adds it in Current-gen version it will be full 3d object with special effects when you pass through.

I wonder if with these new fps versions you can do instrumental landings. I'm extremely excited to challenge my flying skills with first person view. The instruments seem basic, but enough to get the job done (sort of). From the screens, it looks as if the copilot seat has an exact copy of the instrument panels from the captain's. I'm relying on mods for PC to bring the most realistic flying experience in GTA. Oh yea, I also wish there was volumetric clouds in the next gen versions because the current gen clouds felt like 2d textures and you never really knew you were flying thru them. I hope they have more weather variation to allow for extreme flying conditions and challenges.

I would love to see the weather change with rising altitude.

In Lastgen, it was stormy under and above the clouds. I expect the sunny cloudscape on NG.

Over the clouds, the freedom seem to be boundless...

Yea, they should add the altitude weather difference. I mean the turbulence in GTA V is over done and for flight enthusiasts like me, we simply can't fly a single smooth flight, even with our flight skills maxed. In real life planes fly high to avoid weather obstacles like turbulence so GTA needs to add this. One of the best sights of flying is taking off from a stormy airport and climbing above the clouds and into heaven. I wish a beautiful game like GTA V would add this feature. Talk about a living breathing world, not just ppl, cars and animals but weather too. To add hope to this feature, GTA V actually has high tides and low tides, no joke, I thought that was completely unnecessary but if they're going to pull off a living breathing world, I say go all the way. All the way.

Im just hoping for ai traffic leaving the fields on actual routes and not disappearing.. Airliners at los santos, smaller props at sandyshores etc.. its more fun to fly with others around the whole map.

I just hope that the overextreme turbulence with helicopters will be gone or lowered.

I picked up GTA V again and another thing that would be cool to see would be return of more realistic helicopter controls. I couldn't get the nose to pitch forward past 45 degrees. I loved how in GTA 4 I had full control and could push the stick foward and nose dive toward the ground. I agree with the others saying to change up the turbulence.

Do not get your hopes up..... let's just wait and see what they'll deliver....

That's pretty much a general rule for any kind of hype or expectation in GTA, any other game and life itself.

When doing the Hidden Packages run, I used a helicopter for 3 hours straight! Nearing the end, I got physically sick and threw up, feeling like crap for the rest of the night... Motion sickness, Never had it before but I do wonder if its due to the constant swaying motion of the turbulence.

Wow, I just realized I don't even notice that with Helis anymore. I got used to it and forgot about it. When first playing I thought that it made flying in helicopters miserable but now I do it all the time without thinking twice. I think I would actually like them to keep it like that, or maybe tone it down just a bit.

I just want more air traffic, not just in the airport but the whole damn map. Don't tell me planes don't fly over the city, R*... Blimps aren't substitutes.

If they could remove the constant "weeble wobble" of the helicopters that would be a huge start.

So the updates are out. Any new thoughts on any changes that have been made? Helicopter controls less twitchy? First person perspective adding a whole new level?
