I had some twat pull the reverse-with-bullet-resistant-car to me a few times the other day, blew them up each time, f*ck em! I got 14+ million $ so a few thousand isn't going to make a dent, but why the hell should I receive a bad sport warning when they're the one using their PV as a shield?!

thats the senseless part of bad sport...

seem like the person(moron) that envisioned the bad sport system didnt think about griefers forcing other players into blowing their PV...

its a win-win situation for the griefer, i reverse drive toward you, i kill you so i win.

i reverse drive toward you, you blow my pv up, you get to pay the insurance a minimum of 3k(jester) 10k(zentorno/entity) up to 12k(adder).

even if you dont have money to pay insurance i win because you get bad sport point credited to you.

bad sport should be removed or reverted to how it was during patch 1.16, no bs/insurance for destroying occupied vehicles.

I thought only destroying unoccupied vehicles counted against you in terms of vehicle destruction?

Occupied now penelizes you once again? That's dumb. And I agree adder/whatever the car is you can't shoot the driver from behind with reverse stuff is complete bollocks.

EDIT: Going 1 month without getting back into bad sport should "Reset" your sentance timer back to 2 days. It's a load of bull knowing the sentance WILL double each time, with no way to be "Forgiven" if you've cleaned up your act and start anew.

Makes me question why even have the tank if using it will get you bad sported. Heck people used to ram you on purpose so they'd blow up and you're the one who get's dunced.

For destroying occupied PV's, insurence? Maybe. Bad sport? heck no.

Also, does anyone know if the jerry can exploit still works? You'd pour gas on their car and ignite it with your exhaust to avoid paying insurence/bad sport.

Also, I will tell you that when you get the "You're being a bad sport! If you keep misbehaving you WILL be punished!" message, (Not the "Bad sport, you blew up a PV! Behave yourself or else" message) you're VERY close to getting bad sport, and should stop.

@ PsychoGamer

Red Dead Redemption is my go-to game when in Bad Sport.

I always smile when someone hits me with the explosive rifle and my body explodes into guts and blood.

I can't wait for the next Red Dead game.

I received RDR from my brother in 2013, but it has just been dusting in the shelves for over one year. I haven't been playing this masterpiece until Mid 2014... always thought it wouldn't be my setting, because of no cars, no automatic guns, stinky horses & everything.

But damn, great game! Of course i've been spoilered with the ending some years ago, another reason not to get it. But now i am glad i've played it. Hopefully there will be a new RD (Red Dead Revolution?) on PS4/XB1. If its just half as good as Redemption, i'd buy it.

Haven't played RDR in MP though... is that rifle available in SP aswell? Haven't seen it.

Well, after several days, I'm finally out of Bad Sport.

Kind of happended anti-climatically. I tried to join a RR session for Bad Sports, and got the message,

"The job you are trying to join is for Bad Sports only. You are being redirected to Online."

Once in Online, the dunce cap was gone and I could hear the mindless chatter of children giving away their positions.

The strange thing about this is, yes, I have taken a new position with regard to playing more "aware" and not blowing up PVs.
It's easy enough to resist, but that I now HAVE to resist makes the experience seem so... I don't know... boring?

I've also found that in Bad Sport, you really had to be on your game to survive. It's so brutally unforgiving in there, that if you spawn in a hot location, chance are you're getting killed from every direction.

It forced me to take off to the hills and find things to do on my own, much like a Solo session or Invite Only.

Back in the regular lobby, now, it's the same old mindless routine that got me to be reckless in the first place.
Zentorno backs up toward me with two players shooting. What recourse is there?

Now, the only recourse to Jetboys, Zentornos, and Buzzardbeaters is to move around on foot in Passive.
Like I said... boring, old routine.

I have no intention of playing for a few days, as I just don't feel drawn in right now.

We'll see when the weekend comes.... CHEERS!

Oh, and for surviving Bad Sport, I treated myself to a new Topless Croquette. Never had one, so it's a nice ride to just tool around in!

Been talking a bit with R* support. Quitting, reports, killing passive players, destoying personal vehicles increases BS points. And ONLY time decreases them. Sharing money, or doing missions, doesn't change anything. Only time can heal...

I used to be you could do all the missions races ect and eventually would you be out of it. I wish that were still true. Not a fan of B.S.

I call it the "catholic guilt" methodology and it's bogus. "If I just say 26 Hail Mary's (do 26 missions) and 14 Our Father's (14 races), then God will forgive my sins and I can go back out and be better (go back out so I can play the game, as intended, which is to kill other players and blow things up) in the eyes of God (Rockstar)."

And now that I'm out, I realize that there is a single element in this game which is singularly promoting the destruction of PVs: Zentorno.

The players that drive them know this and exploit the advantage endlessly. I'm confronted every session by one of these tools, pulling their arse-end up to me and shooting.

So, what is a player supposed to do? Get killed by this toolbag in the Zentorno? Pack up and run away like a shaved alpaca? Or ram an RPG up the tailpipe of the Zentorno and risk being sent to Bad Sport?

Honestly, I'd prefer sitting in Bad Sport for a month than letting some little juice boxer get the better of me with a cheap kill exploit.

The Zentorno has quickly earned its badge as both the ugliest and dewshbargiest vehicle in the game. In my world, it's the Bad Sport Maker.

Never been there but a prison animation would be nice and perhaps a 20k damages cost for the destruction to lost Santos which increases the more you go in.

I'm there now for 4 months. I'm learning to live with it . Until I can find someone to help break keep out.

Good luck bro I did 4 months legit. Practice your jet skills, you'll need it.

In the two days I've played, I've been stuck in lobbies with 1-5 players.

These players are genuinely hostile people, it seems. There's no hesitation or delay in their methods.

A blip is a target, plain and simple. And they will not stop haunting if you evade them or kill them.

So far, I've had muggers, bounties, and mercenaries after me within minutes of logging on.

And it's usually in 1-2 player sessions! Craziness.

I feel like I'm playing The Purge or something. weird.

Sounds like a great time. I honestly wouldn't mind going there if it wasn't for the hat.

OP showed his age with his "called for dinner" line. You have to go out of your way to get badsport now, don't act like it was a surprise. If you are blowing up enough PV's between the extremely quick reset, you deserve the punishment. You are the problem.

how hard can it be to finally understand that u should not blow up someones car? havent u watched pulp fiction as a kid? kids have no honour these days... pfff

i still believe the system works, i believe badsport lobbies are full of morons, i blow up every PV that deserves being blown up and still get my 2000$ every once in a while.
sorry for all the innocents being called morons, but why are u still in BS ?

Bad sport is ineffective, the whole system is f*cking stupid. coming from someone who hasn't been put in bad sport since 2013, but I'm constantly blowing up cars and leaving jobs if my teammates do stupid sh*t (which is a lot).

I don't think a prison system would be any better, badsport just needs to go away imo.

Bad Sport is meant to be hard to enter, if it were easy, then everyone would complain that this is GTA not The Sims and we're supposed to do that because we're criminals.

I disagree with the idea that Bad Sport needs to go, it keeps the worst of the worst away from the average and good players. As long as it keeps the most annoying assholes from my game, i support it.

As i've said on other threads, the Bad Sport people are just put in a lobby with psychopaths and destroyers of their own kind, don't see it as a punishment but rather an adaptation of the game of your social behavior.

^this.

besides that you don't go into bs just for blowing up a car!

you have to blow up several cars for that.

i have never been to bs although i sometimes blow up a pv to defend myself!

so it's possible without any problem to defend yourself without going into bs!

I like Bad Sport. It served it's purpose a long time ago Nov 2013 when I got sent there. Couldn't play with all my friends, no meets or fun stuff to do with the assholes in there and everyone was out to get you. Never want to go back again and honestly if I get sent back while defending myself like the first time, the game is getting traded in ahah.

The system actually is quite representative of real-life law, where property-related crimes in most western countries are still punished harder than, let's say, crimes against one's sexual integrity, or even most forms of non-deadly assault. We live in a capitalist world, and since our laws are so heavily reflective of that, why shouldn't our video games be?

/my2cents (cause really, that's all i got)

you are no schooled in the art of Sarcasm, are you now? and him referencing those AC/DC shows is pretty much proof to the contrary, so what you did is to select one information above the other to proof your nonsensical point.

For those about to post, we salute you!

I think Bad Sport should make people suffer and deliver a harder punishment. It's so easy to just restart the game and lose the stacks gained from blowing up cars, if that's how it works. They need to revert all Bad Sport and insurance changes. Tanks, jets and everything should pay for insurance.

So, for all of those people who go "You deserved it" for those who get into BS, when someone tries to reverse into you with their Zentorno or Entity, do you just sit down and offer passive resistance like Ghandi or something? I'm thinking those who are all for people getting into BS for wrecking PVs are just as fast to whip out the RPG when someone tries to reverse on them in a Zentorno.

BS is regarded as a warzone - I didn't see that, if anything, I saw people who played more tactically than the kind of Rambo Squeaker ridiculousness that I often see in free roam. I don't want to be in BS ever again - there's not that many people, you might get $ taken (although I think that's cheater pool only?), etc - but I was impressed with the gameplay that I saw in many instances (not every, but many) when in BS.

Drop bad sport and the cost of having to run that separate area, double the insurance cost if someone wrecks a PV and make people pay even if they don't have money - make people go into debt. You'll stop a lot if you have the idea of going into debt in this game.

Umm, really? Because I could either being a fledgling child called to dinner by mommy OR a relaxed spouse coming home from work called to dinner by wifey?

Don't assume, friend, because it makes you sound ignorant. :p

I sincerely hope other members read this reply. It's right on the money. The voracity, efficiency, and accuracy with which players attack in Bad Sport is ridiculous. You're not talking about n00bs or lousy players... you're talking about players that KNOW how to play this game. I mean, people who understand the finer points of sniping someone out of a car, seeming to know exactly where you will respawn, and a relentless bloodlust that is insatiable to the point where you just end up quitting because, "this suuuuuuuucks!"

Yeah, it can be a warzone if you hit a fully loaded Bad Sport lobby. It can be a lot of fun to engage that many "good" players (I suppose I'm one of them, too), but the moment you want to just cruise around, do some stunt jumping, or do a Job like a mission or race – forget it.

Thanks for the replies. Especially yours, @smokingndriving. cheers.

I have been in badsport 5 times and I enjoyed my stay. Until they changed the punishment system. The timer doubling for each offence committed in bad sport put me off.

Now I keep a close eye on my player status.

What I find shocking and slightly disturbing. Is the fact bad sports are treated no differently to plebs who cheat.

In fact R encourage cheating by having a cheater pool in the first place.

Now I keep a close eye on my player status.

@purevil101, I'm curious how you do this? Are you able to see some kind of "measure" or "meter" of how close you are to Bad Sport?

If this were available, then hellzyeah I'd be watching it like a hawk! And if that meter were to go up/down based on behavior and gameplay, then hellzyeah, again.

However, at this point, I've not come across any actual way to measure how much of a Good/Bad Sport I am or have been.

I understand there's a system... but where is it? How can we see it? That would be ideal and I bet buttons to buttslaps players would be more inclined to chill if they could see it.

Right? :)

EDIT: JUST DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH ON THIS........

And here's what I found. I'll leave in the text above, so anyone interested can read the full discussion.

But Google led me back to this forum and this discussion on the matter (which didn't show up at all in the Search field, here. grrr! :) )

Hit the pause menu in gtao and go to the online tab. Select players and you will see player status on the top left.

When you have a dodgy player status be good. When you become good. Be good a little bit more to be sure.
