nath22
I'm saying they need to make another game with more things to do in the same map because only being able to drive is a waste. Why is this so hard for you to understand? It's a fairly simple concept. Putting guns and flyable planes in a racing game makes no sense. You make. A new game. Not about racing this time. But on the same map. Do you want me to explain it to the cat? Because the cat's going to get it. People get it it's just the kind of logic 13 year olds apply to things. 'This is okay but imagine if it was like GTA/COD/BF it would be 100% better' Nah.
Freakorama
That doesn't change the fact that it's a huge waste of potential for a massive game map. Edited March 27, 2015 by Freakorama
Guest
Wouldn't it be cool if Polyphony took Gran Turismo 6's Midfield track, and made a first person shooter out of it? Oh, oh! What if, guys, what if Rockstar took Max Payne 3's Favela level and then made a racing game! So cool!

You actually COULD do many other things with it that would fit. The irrational way you guys think, you'd even object to motorcycle DLC. Even if it was free. Guest
the map is like 70 percent road through the middle of nowhere with a few simple towns and cities. the map was designed as a map to drive through. if you try and have an open world there that meets the standards of GTA/Watch_Dogs/Saints Row 2 it would require a complete overhaul. With a map that size, it would take f*cking ages. WIth The Crew's map, a racing game is the best if not the only use for it. You could do many things but the game would suffer severely, the graphics would be sub par (not like they're amazing now) and the physics would be terrible. We wont see maps this size on anything but racing games for a good few years. Edited March 30, 2015 by TheMcSame
tuareg
That doesn't change the fact that it's a huge waste of potential for a massive game map. You can drive on every square inch of the map. How is it a waste? Some people like to drive endlessly without going in circles on a race track. A racing game isn't good enough for such a big map? Yes, a functioning multiplayer game would be fun in such a big open world environment. What do you expect us to say? We wont see maps this size on anything but racing games for a good few years. Prolly not. Just Cause 2 was already a shot in the right direction, with something like 400 square miles in map size. I know that The Crew is bigger than that, but we're talking about an open-world game that was released 5 years ago, and that runs on 2005-2006 hardware (PS3/360). You can make a good open-world game on The Crew's map, but you'll need A LOT of optimisation to do in the engine and everything. It's more feasible than everyone thinks. He's comparing a map based on a country, that was applied to a racing game, and that he wanted a open-world sandbox game. You're comparing circuits and favelas to being turned into FPS and racing maps, respectively. Even though you tried to fix your point later on, this makes no bloody sense. If we're talking about a game that doesn't let you in water (akin to Assassin's Creed, GTAIII/VC), then you can say it's wasted space and I'll agree. But since we're talking about an open-world game, akin to GTAV, just using this map, then I don't think it's wasted space at all. Even in JC2, you could swim, dive, you had the oil rigs, boats, and everything. It's slower-paced, sure, but hardly wasted space.

Gouveia
If it was easier to transfer money between brazilian and american accounts, I could buy it for PC for you. On brazilian steam, it is US$ 40 for the gold edition, which includes the season pass, or US$ 30 for the regular edition.
Flachbau
I don't think my PC is any good for the game, though Once I build a new one (whenever that is) I could probably run it, though. @Lightning - nah, it's around the same price, I was just lol'ing cause you made it seem like $40 was nothing Edited May 4, 2015 by Nick
Gouveia
@Lightning - nah, it's around the same price, I was just lol'ing cause you made it seem like $40 was nothing As far as game prices go, US$40 is "nothing" to us. I remember when I bought Modern Warfare 2 for my ol' 360, back when it was released. It costed me US$150 at the time. To be able to buy a game, at launch, for US$40 (it's the default launch-price in BR Steam) it's awesome.
Flachbau
$150 here in the US would have gotten you the "prestige" edition of the game.. it's crazy how expensive things are everywhere else in the world. You could add me on steam if you'd like. http://steamcommunity.com/id/androidgtaf Edited May 4, 2015 by Nick
Le Dude
I'm surprised this game wasn't shut down already. Oh yeah I forgot, they have to make it F2P first and charge us $5 for a bumper.
LightningLord
Forgive me for the bump, but an expansion for this game was announced not too long ago. Personally, I think it looks alright. Monster trucks, drift events, drag races (with wheelies!), bikes, some new cars, and better graphics all seem pretty good to me. (Maybe new specs too?) Prehaps the graphics update will come by default via an update and won't need the expansion pass. (Come on, having to buy an expansion for better graphics? Lol.) I really hope the expansion and its update fix some of the flaws in the game. *cough* police *cough* Edited June 18, 2015 by LightningLord

If anyone could do it then it would've been done by now because people get hyped up over games with large maps and something like GTA with a map like that would sell very well. The Crew's map is something stupid like 1000+ sq miles, you're not getting something like GTA into that without major sacrifices. All games with large maps suffer because of the map, I mean, just compare TCLA with GTA 3 or GTA VC. Edited June 19, 2015 by TheMcSame
