Being killed in first person

Do you think anything different will happen when you die while in first person mode? I think it would be kind of cool if instead of just the same slow motion "wasted" animation, the screen goes blurry before fading to black to really make it feel like you're experiencing death from their eyes.

For that matter, what do you think getting drunk in first person will be like?

I imagine it'll look like it does in 3rd person, but it'll be in 1st. I just want the death screen to last longer. So many times I've been blow off a roof or a platform and I just want to see myself get crunched into the floor.

That sounds like a better option to me too. I think being drunk will give you motion sickness in FP haha.

The slow motion wasted is annoying. I always want it to show how far i will fall down a mountain or whatever but you only get to see about 2-3 seconds after you die.

Would be great if it was different but I'm not expecting any changes. Was already a bit disappointed with the current gen version.

It will probably be a black screen the moment your health goes down to zero.

I heard that its like rainbow six Vegas, where you still ragdoll but the camera still stays in first person, I remember reading on one of the previews, and they mentioned being hit by a truck

Well the people before dying often say they see bright lights... sort of like when you can see "stars" sizzling in your peripheral vision. Except much much brighter and it fills your entire vision, blinding you. That's just all neurons firing at the same time in your brain, cells dying and releasing some kind of energy charge... switching from mortal to immortal. Cause nothing really dies in the universe, energy just gets converted or transferred. OR another explanation, your body releasing some kind of chemical that makes your parting that much more pleasant instead of agonizing nightmare that it is.

I just can't wait to get into a fist fight in FP. I'm a huge fan of condemned's gameplay. That's gonna be crazy getting knocked out by a sucker punch from another player haha

Well...i'd rather avoid the situations, when i have to die...I hate dying in games! What's the fun of it? It only frustrate you more and more gradually to the point, when you can't take it any longer! I don't imply games should be easy, i'm simply saying that i'm no fan of seeing my character die thats all! How will it look when you die is also not my concern! I could care less, it could go all black screen or it could stay as it is doesn't matter! Won't change the frustration from failing the game, when you experience it no matter how it looks!

I bet the screen just turns black and the word "Wasted" pops up.

It will be like any FPS game when someone is killed but in GTA style and intense.

That's something that bugged me a bit. Like others above stated I wish when you die it would just let you watch your character plummet to their death as long as you wanted until you press a button.

I also wish the death animation lasted longer. It was better in IV, not ideal but better, at least in IV you could keep the animation going and it would only automatically stop once Niko's body came to a stop. It would be better if it went infinitely until you pressed a button though.

OT, It would be cool to slowly black out in FP. Or even have it vary depending on the wound. Say if you get killed by a headshot or something else that would kill instantly it's just an instant black out, but if you get killed by a leg or even a body shot the character could slowly die of blood loss. They should also let you switch out of FP at any time during the death sequence.

You wake up in the hospital and see the staff going through your wallet and the police taking all of your ammo.

When Michael dies, Kifflom will appear mightily infront of you. All colour of the world will drain and everything will be white, suddenely all the lines start getting erased. Kifflom moves slowly towards Michael, who tries to resist at first but is grabbed by Kifflom. It embraces Michael tightly and starts to ascend him onto an erasing Los Santos and takes him to the might tree that everyone came from. Michael lays happily under the tree until Trevor comes along and kicks him in the head.

"EUUURGHH MICHHUUUULLL IT'S ALL YOUR FAAAAAAAAAAULT!"

Then you wake up at hospital.

It should us looking up at the sky, blinking a few last times, and seeing life fade away.

This empathic experience could make us question our regrettable criminal choices more, and why we decided to jump onto a moving train, or throw a grenade underneath heavy traffic, or jump off a skyscraper, or to tease that hooker who we found out has a hidden knife.

I think that there will be a quick rush of scenes as your life passes before your eyes before you black out:

Michael sees his early juvenile delinquent criminal career, first date with Amanda, bank job planning with Trevor, Tracey being born, riding bikes with Jimmy at Vespucci Beach, pulling down Madrazo's girlfriend's Vinewood Hills house, pushing Devin Weston over the cliff...

In Online, we'll see every past humiliating death we have ever experienced. :p

Not sure, but this seems as good a place as any to mention how I hate how quick the wasted animation and sound happens. Anytime you die by explosion, you never get to hear the full explosion sound. I would rather have the screen slowly fade to black and white and the "wasted" appear.

Yeah, I hate how it's just like "f*ck you, game over, you're having too much fun."

Uncle Sikee Atric

The 'Wasted' is too quick!

I am suspecting some modder will change it in First Person.... Instant Black, a la Day Z, 'You Are Dead', then switching out to third person to actually show what happened to you and which idiot shot you in the back / ran you over from behind....

It might look like the deaths from Battlefield where the camera just falls to the ground along with your character then fades.

Play the 1st Doom or Wolfenstein and you'll get the picture of it lol

The camera will change to the 3rd person mode before the protagonist dies and the wasted screen appears as usual.

Upon succumbing to inebriation, it would really bolster the First-Person realism if the camera becomes distorted and swivels erratically. It would definitely exacerbate and impair one's driving capacities, and with the animate steering wheels and functional dashboards, the protagonist would whip the wheel left and right arbitrarily as the gauge needles fluctuated. :D

Oh, I just now conjured up a supposition within the conscious mind that would be really cool if implemented in the long roster of expanded animations to be encompassed in New-Gen Grand Theft Auto: V.

My humble postulation is that it would be awesome and quite humorous when you have say, just exited a bar after having undertook a voluminous caliber of alcohol and proceeded to reenter your vehicle, with stunted movements. You are now driving back on the road, but you are prominently inebriated, with sporadic steering movements and fishtailing. Your peripheral vision is curtailed and your perspective of Los Santos is rendering with little clarity and mesh. The speedometer's needle is failing to stay within radius of the 30-35 mark. Is at this point that you realize you are driving under the influence, and then without prior warning, it happens.

The screen flickers once initially with a transition of black to an electrifying white, akin to tunnel vision and then intermittently about three times more. This is then accompanied by some mild episodes of jolting, before you begin to progressively lose conscious awareness and finally lunge towards the steering wheel, only to strike it lifelessly as the horn cries out vehemently, vehicle crashes. The screen would then fade as you are spawned to the nearest hospital, only to emerge from the front entrance slightly disoriented before reverting back to the normal state. :)

Case and point: it would awesome if the protagonist and the NPCs for that matter, passed out from driving under the influence and too much alcohol consumption. It would just add another degree of realism, especially to witness that in the First-Person perspective.

Thank you very much for reading. :)

So true, I thought it was too short in IV already! I'd take it a step further and let the player activate the 'wasted' overlay and fade to black, leaving them in full control of the camera for as long as they want.

Couple that with a simple photomode like TLoU and Mordor have. Endless fun guaranteed.
