Would you want togue racing in GTA Online?

Touge (or Toge) racing refers to racing done on narrow, winding mountain passes. This type of racing has gained prominence in popular culture, appearing in media such as the anime Initial D and the video game Need For Speed: Carbon.

 

 

 

Togue racing in GTA Online would work like this. There would be a maximum of two players. The race would work like a cat and mouse format. One car is the leader, and the other car is the chaser. The leader wins if he or she manages to pull considerably ahead of the chaser. The chaser wins if he or she overtakes the leader, and the leader does not re-pass the chaser within a certain amount of time. If either car crashes or spins out, then the other car automatically wins.

 

So, that's togue racing. Would you want a race mode like this in GTA Online? Why or why not?

 

Also, I'm aware that there's a new concept board, but I posted this here as I felt like this idea hasn't been developed enough to be considered a concept.

Yeah they are pretty nice. Actually I do enjoy taking my carbonizzaire down mountain passes so yes I would like this to be added.

.. With content creator you can make a race practically anywhere, so just find narrow mountainous roads and there you go. or am I missing something here?

If you are refering to adding a specific game mode I have no real objection to it. You can technically do it already but with no money or xp involved. You just need 2 willing participants who can play fairly. I would prefer however r* work on decent drift physics. Let me hold a slide please.

I'd like it but maybe without the strict rules. Narrow mountain passes and more technical racing is fun and requires more skill. I've said it before and I'll say it again.. "Through the grapevine" was one of the best racing tracks in GTA Online, too bad so many lousy drivers downvoted it and made it disappear.

If you'd like one of our members at Apex recreated "Through The Grape Vine" with racing props added and you could bookmark that race and still have a "through the grape vine" race

 

OT great idea OP I loved the canyon races in Carbon, Inital D had some awesome canyon duels aswell so it would be welcome but I mean something would have to be put in place to counteract rammers.... Other than that I welcome this idea.

I want manual transmissions more than anything else in cars. It would open up a lot more possibilities in racing and regular driving than another race style.

Probably not, but it might be fun to watch though. With the level of driving skill in this game I'd say not many people will even make it to the finish.

Yeah, I loved Carbon - graphics were way downgraded from U2 and the physics were retarded but it was pretty fun to play on the PS2.

There, unfortunately, isn't enough pavement in the mountains to create more than a few good tracks for touge races.

I've tried. Most of them are dirt roads.

Would rather have a manual gearbox. Im a big JDM guy but all the racing in Gta is sh*t due to the driving phyiscs.

 

Add a manual tranny option with slight tuning abilities. Races would become more about braking/shifting skill rather than who can just grind the guardrail at full speed.

 

Once the game has GOOD racing qualities then add cool race types like touge. Adding cool race types now would be bitter sweet. Like hey you could get a great race going, BUT everyone is just going to pit in the first turn. And non contact takes the away the thrill of touge.

 

Oh and maybe we could get a realistic damage option? With no new car respawn bullsh*t. If your front tire touched or nudged somebody else's car argressively then it actually messes up your allignment like irl? I feel this could be a much better solution to the non contact option.

 

Gta should be trying to follow the racing game giants like Forza and Gran Turismo. Meaning they should be TRYING to make the driving realistic rather than some kiddie Need4speed arcade game. But console limits yada yada, Ps4Xbone will probably still have sh*tty racing options.

 

OP should get Forza or GranT for some touge fun. People on those games actually don't pit/ram!

GTA v has traction control and you can't switch it off so real racing can never happen. I don't think it should have it at all personally.
