Rail Gun

@Sky_Light, Hard to say at this point. It could be like Halo 4's rail gun where it can OHK people with ease, or it could be like Metal Gear Solid where vehicles are also in danger, but with the size of this gun, I doubt it would have the power to destroy cars with single-digit rounds. No way of knowing until gameplay of the gun comes around. :/

i was hope this rail gun is balanced by longest " recharge " ( reload ) weapon , requiring 1 week for 1 " battery " charged , maximum to 4 " battery " charged ( meaning 1 month to fully charge this weapon ) . but if u're were a spoiled brat who constantly spent on kask kerds , u can pay R* to add battery for rail gun as well fully charged battery for $100 , just sayin :D

although , if it does fire explosive like RPG does ( but not rocket form explosives ) , a rhino tank can survive a hit of rail gun

From a CVG article:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/480357/hands-on-gtav-ps4-xbox-one-pc/

Except, of course, in life we're yet to wield a Rail Gun, one of GTAV's new weapons. Like, holy wow. Rubbish when it misses, and a horror to reload, but a direct hit is absurd. A truck shivers in slow motion under the impact and then... ex-pl-od-es. When GTAV gets it right, it feels a lot like that.

Looks like we have a new power weapon in our hands.

Just as long as people can't fire rounds as fast as Fortune in MGS2 on European Extreme. Then I'll have no issue with it.

It seems like Metal Gear shows us why we should have countermeasures to weapons and vehicles Rockstar adds. I imagine that encounters with the Hydra would look like this.

I am actually looking foward to using this weapon Online (if it is available). I wouldn't use on anyone just for the sake of it, but during deathmatches and missions it would help a lot. If the weapon is available i GTA: Online, there should be an unlock like many have already said. Reaching a very high rank 200 - 250 maybe (I'm 180). You may have unlocked it, but you still have to buy it. It looks like an expensive weapon, so ammunition should be quite pricey too. Or instead of unlocking it at a high rank, maybe it could have a high price, say GTA$1.500.000 - GTA$2.000.000, this way players must earn the money in order to obtain it. Who knows, we'll soon find out on the 18th!

Well there's something to test a pilot.

Seriously, if you are in fact a good pilot why be worried?

Still all speculation it will be Online. If it is Unlocked in SP from a specific set of Mission(s) it will not be Online. IF you can just purchase it from the get go, it might.

Remember, railguns need to charge before firing a shot. That charging time will leave anybody exposed.. Then there's reloading. In most games, you have to reload after every shot; I've never seen a railgun with a magazine (Gauss Rifle in Fallout is a coilgun.. Completely different concept and design).

A weapon of this power should only have 20 bullets max.. Real railguns, even though they're still in testing, have the power to rip anything apart in one shot.

If you guys want this gun to be another heavy sniper, it'd be a strong insult to the weapon's true power.

how do they solve the "any action has an opposite and equal reaction" problem though?

can't imagine this being a handheld weapon

Counter-accelerated weight with gas dampener, which would make the Railgun to a high pressure airsoft-railgun hybrid.

How is that thing even cooled?

Most are air cooled, but I've loosely heard of using coolant or physical heat dispersal units.

The Lonesome Drifter

so a rail gun is a ray gun then?

ZzO1k.jpg

We downgraded it to a Q-35 Matter Modulator. (:

At this point, nobody can imagine a hand held railgun. Our smallest railgun is the General Atomic Blitzer, and that thing is still the size of a car.

I doubt we'll see railguns as small as the one in GTA in our lifetimes. Creating a power supply small enough to power this gun would be the biggest obstacle moving forward.

Thats my biggest gripe with the GTA railgun is that it is not possible with todays technology to create a practical, portable one. Also that it looks like a spray painted nerf gun and will probably not perform like a real rail gun

I dont know if this has been already posted here or if you guys have already posted it but still I wanted to put it out here.

The New HD Screenshot:

As you can see the new picture is in HD and gives a more clear view of the most amazing looking gun!

It'd be nice if the recoil knocked you on your ass. That way the person would take there time for a skilled shot instead of prancing around spraying everyone.

The moment I see someone attempt to backwards shoot me with a Zentorno , that rail gun is going up their ass.

So if you have checked Social Club today, you'll know that IGN have got a new article discussing some more things in the new GTA. In the video IGN posted they talk about the new graphics, first person and also what happened when they played it.

However in the video they discuss the ray and he says "I like the way it hums when it's getting ready to fire, and the fact it's got explosive bullets."

So, that makes me pretty excited for it.

Check it out: http://uk.ign.com/videos/2014/11/04/weve-played-grand-theft-auto-v-for-ps4xbox-one

We will see. I am just hoping it is acquired via a New Side Mission that involves stealing it from Fort Zancudo so it will not take forever to Unlock...in a similar fashion to getting the Jetpack in SA, accept not part of the main Story.

I agree, however as it's explosive I have a feeling it will get very popular with people online, especially when you're driving past people
