Everything is fine there, but it just starts a new game, and if I downgrade, it crashes after loading it.

It appears there are no benefits from the sneaky Update.

Takes away songs, and only makes the game accept console controllers easier, it worked fine with Generic USB Gamepads.

 

Your game is it DVD or STEAM installed?

 

These new adjustments to the game are killing it.

There are 2 versions installed. The Steam update, and a crack, but neither of them can run the savegame.

 

EDIT: The Silent patch was already installed in the steam version.

EDIT2: It was a v1 exe with v3 (steam before this "update") scripts.

EDIT3: I tried to switch game versions in my save editor, but it didn't work. I tried 1.0 unmodified EXE, 1.0 modified EXE, 1.1 Unmodified EXE, 1.1 Modified EXE, 2.0 Unmodified EXE, and 2.0 German.

In previous versions (v1 and v2 - v3 was the same as v2), save compatibility is determined almost entirely by the game scripts and has been independent of the executable. Players with any version regularly swap scripts to complete missions for players of different versions. There are also tools available to convert saves between v1 and v2.

 

I suspect the new version has a new save format, and this is most likely due to changes to main.scm, but there could also be other structural changes to the save format. I'd like to see a clean beginning save. Anything you can come up with that would provide a save with as few changes as possible should be fine. Please use the new exe so I can identify any changes to the file ID.

From what I am reading else where the "New" updated version is now based not on the PC ported game, but on the Mobile Devices version which has incompatible saves with the normal PC saves.

I think I will get a save editor for the new version, and recreate the old save. If such a tool exists.

 

EDIT: I think I can't get the old exe back, (the one from the "update") because I removed it. Now Steam launches a NOCD crack for the game with v1 scripts and all that stuff.

BTW the saves don't work even in a cracked GTA and I tried every version in the save editor.

This is Android v1.06 save file. If the new steam version is a port of mobile then it would be definitely port of Android v1.06

Also in v1.06 apk the main.scm and script.img are renamed as "mainV1.scm" and "scriptv1.img"

Okay, before this thread dies, I verify my game cache and try that save.

 

EDIT: Verified, date and time and name are glitched and it starts a new game.

1: C 02 FEB 0000 00:08:00

 

EDIT2: SilentPatch installed again, on verified install, and the game crashes before the splash screen and the text.

To clarify the new Steam update is NOT the mobile version - it's a modified version 3.0.

 

OP, try using the downgrader.
