Which City/Area would Rockstar most likely implement first?

North Yankton would be the easiest as it is already in the game but I can't see them adding any new areas to the map unfortunately.

Don't understand why so many are going for Liberty City as being the easiest as it simply is not.

It is. It's already a complete map. Any other locations would require an unreasonable amount of work. Even North Yankton is less likely as North Yankton is just the illusion of a complete area, and not actually anywhere near really being a complete map. It's smoke & mirrors.

Actually, Liberty City would not be the easiest. You say North Yankton is not a complete map, but that depends on how big Rockstar want it to be to serve it's purpose. Liberty City would require a fair bit of work.

But let's face reality, Rockstar ain't gonna give us sh*t in regards to anything cool like a map extension.

Of course there will be no map extension. But new, seperate maps which our GTA:Online characters can play in is plausible, and even likely.

What work would Liberty City require? For the last gen, it would be minimal, and for the latest gen, it would require a reskin. Everything else is good to go.

LC is a complete mape with everything in working order. North Yankton is a road and a few buildings, with the vast majority of what can be seen not actually physically existing (walk through/fall through it). It's like a set on a stage. For it to be a fully realised location where you could actually access all parts and explore, it'd take R* years.

How do you know there will be a map extension? Source from Rockstar please.

You miss the point I made - how do you know North Yankton is not complete? It depends what Rockstar want to use it for. They may just want it to be a small town you could possibly fast travel to rather than an entire island. Unlocking an already created area is a lot less work than reskining an entire map. Get it now?

But we're all just guessing here.

Are you even reading anything or are you just trolling now? I explicitly just said they won't expand V's map. But The Benz on several occasions has spoken of adding past and future GTA locations to GTA:Onine.

And I know North Yankton is not complete because players can go there and see for themselves. You can go there and see for yourself if you want. If you don't want to go to the trouble, just look at some of the North Yankton exploration videos on Youtube.

They could in theory use it for a deathmatch/LTS/etc I guess. That'd be pretty cool But there's no way it'll ever be a fully explorable open world for freemode unless R* someday set a game there (hence giving them a reason to finish the area's map).

Wow someone mis-reads something and you throw a complete hissy fit. Time for you to step away from the keyboard if you're getting wound up over that.

Rockstar has spoken about a lot of things, a lot of which have never happened. If they told me the sea water was wet I'd have to take a trip to the beach and check.

You are still missing the point I'm making about North yankton potentiall being easier - the completeness of the map depends on what Rockstar want to use the map for. A complete map does not necessarily have to be an entire island (granted it would be a bit of a weird one but not impossible). Sure it would be a pretty small map but maybe that would serve it's purpose. Please for the love of all that is holy tell me you get the point I'm making at long last.

I'd hoped that in acknowledging that the area (a road, a few buildings, and a graveyard) could make a good deathmatch etc, it would be an indication that I had understood where you were coming from.

My point is; for it to be anything more than that (i.e. be a worthwhile location for missions or freemode, etc.), it would require more time, money and effort than bringing in a location which to all intents and purposes is already complete (LC).

Although as an olive branch, I'll certainly agree that North Yankton is a lot more likely at this point than Las Venturas. I don't know what those voters are smoking.

You know there is ingame art of those locations; they are mentioned quite a lot and it is even possible to make a rough sketch of Northern San Andreas

In the Future Map Additions thread I have made a summary which is like super long and features all you need to know.

Everything you've said is correct, except that R* have expressed their intention of introducing past (and future) cities/locations to GTA:Online in the future.

They never said anything about intention, it was "anything is possible", which is a nice way of not saying "no"

Yes that is why. Remember that we, for one reason or another, haven't been shown pictures or other footage of the northern part of the map.

It raises some thoughts, and I really can't understand why they don't show Paleto Bay or the northern highway...

Stahp. Please. People will run with it, then be disappointed and sad.

Ludendorff, because it's in game already, they just have to touch it up and a lot of people will be happy.

They have to do a lot more than "touch it up". But we've gone over this a few times already in this thread so I'll leave it at that.

First and foremost, Liberty City. I'm all about NYC in real life. Second best IMO would be going the same route as Max Payne 3, and having Brazil in Grand Theft Auto for the very first time. I also wrote in that my character in Brazilian.

Miss Malevolent

Liberty City.

You get your left coast and your east coast flavors...get to change it up.

I'd say Ludendorff is the most logical choice for them since part of it is already "made". I'd like to see San Fierro, Las Venturas and Vice City first though. Yet in the end I'll be happy with whatever map extensions they add.

North Yankton isn't exactly "made" yet. If I remember right, the vast fields are fake, not even a solid ground; only the main road and Lundendorf are solid. They'll have to make them fully solid before releasing that as a DLC.

Ludendorff and/or Liberty City make the most sense, from a practical point of view.

But it would be cool enough if R* simply added some new interiors, or unlocked existing ones, or maybe add a small island based off Catalina in California, and just copy/paste a bunch of stuff onto it. No bridge, accessible only by sea or air. It's fun to dream.

The optimist in me thinks R* had a few meetings about this 4 years ago, and have been working diligently to create HD versions of all of the maps listed above..

The pessimist in me thinks a low level R* employee will stumble upon this thread and smdh

Liberty City seems like the most logical next addition to GTAO

that would explain the time it taken to make gta v since gta iv

if i remember i might be wrong but gta iv came out in 2008 so it would give them atleast 2 years on each city to make them of course they would of been making gta v aswell and the online side of it

so it might be more likely to get liberty city first maybe at launch if lucky or in mid 2015 and they might be working on one other city all most finished

if they included last gen console users (xbox 360/ps3) like me, they have an option to fly from los santos to liberty city or which ever city you chose.
