So this is just another "new maps" thread, nothing new to see here, we've seen this many, many times

Do you have anything better to do than bitch and moan in every thread? Who cares if it's another map thread? I don't nor does most of this thread besides you. Anyways OP I would say LC or LV.

I think R* would add a city based on San Diego first.

Though there are some other cities that would be cool additions:

Anaheim, CA

Long Beach, CA

Portland, OR

Seattle, WA

Vancouver, Canada

No, you don't want to come to Seattle. Trust me. If you think NPC's drive like idgets in Los Santos...wait 'til you get a load of this place.

It'll be LC as it's pretty much good to go already, just needs a touch-up for latest gen. It's the only "complete" HD era location.

North Yankton is just an intro location similar to the Bank in GTA:iii; Personally I don't think it'll ever be in GTA: Online as a fully realised location, unless R* actually set a game there.

I only know the area from the SP game. I never checked it out when people were able to glitch in Online, but wasn't North Yankton a full developed (albeit small) area that you could drive around in? Everything has already been modeled and textured. Rockstar could easily put a few deathmatches, races and contact missions in there and release it as a paid DLC.

It's almost as far from "fully developed" as it gets. http://gta.wikia.com/North_Yankton#Trivia

I actually went to Seattle last summer.

I'd say either San Fierro or Las Venturas since they are already a part of San Andreas. Though, if I had a choice, I would choose Vice City. Since it was my first & favorite GTA & because it's been a looooong time since I've last visited.

GTA should go to outer space next. Spaceships, meteors, aliens and alien eggs are already in the game. Outer space is the next logical addition to GTA/GTAO. I think someone even found some code for spacesuits in the game code. Our characters already have oxygen/breath bars, those will probably be used too...

the most logical move would be to bring san fiero...

evenknow i think when leslie benzie said about "expanding the world" i think he was talking about how the future versions of gtao (gta VI-VII, etc etc) would interact with Los Santos gtao.

heck we may not even see a map add-on in V.

yeah they should add a dubstep gun too... ooh wait 0_O

The 3D and HD games are satires on American culture, they're not going to do the future city from GTA 2 or London. (Dumb) American's aren't going to buy it.

I'm all in for Seattle and Portland, maybe even a bit of Canada be implemented. We can call the area Cascadia, named after a real life movement to make a nation out of Washington, Oregon, and the western coast of Canada. While the crime rate in this area isn't exactly worth a GTA game, the environment would be a real test for developers with the very dense forests and the bipolar weather.

Also, Seattle has a big military presence, namely two naval bases (Naval Base Kitsap & Everett) and the joint army/air force base Fort Lewis-McChord.

This would have to be a completely different game though.

I need Las Venturas, the desert will be excellent for offroad races, the aliens already in the game will go perfect with Area 51 and I need to feed my gambling habit at big casinos (which would also be new apts.

Parachuting off of the Hoover Dam and reenacting the last quest of New Vegas would be epic. ;D

Hijacking jets and helicopters from Edwards Air Force Base would also make me all in for a Las Venturas addition. Mojave Wasteland DLC. <3

The optimist in me thinks R* had a few meetings about this 4 years ago, and have been working diligently to create HD versions of all of the maps listed above..

The pessimist in me thinks a low level R* employee will stumble upon this thread and smdh

Liberty City seems like the most logical next addition to GTAO

Oh how I also share that optimism. Maybe Rockstar will give us something big for Christmas

I am pretty sure about San Fierro, northern San Andreas.

Some people think it will be featured at launch. I say no to that. Maybe a bridge in build or something; but no map yet.

Simply because it isn't the smartest move for Rockstar xD

North Yankton would be the easiest as it is already in the game but I can't see them adding any new areas to the map unfortunately.

Don't understand why so many are going for Liberty City as being the easiest as it simply is not.

It is. It's already a complete map. Any other locations would require an unreasonable amount of work. Even North Yankton is less likely as North Yankton is just the illusion of a complete area, and not actually anywhere near really being a complete map. It's smoke & mirrors.

Not to mention that guns are illegal there...and knife crime has increased in that time so we'd have TONS of knives to choose from, wouldn't that be FUN??

In all seriousness, I don't think that any of you have the slightest inkling as to what goes into building an entire city/game world... It took a massive team of people YEARS to research, plan and build the city of Los Santos. Then they had to go back in and add millions of details and flourishes. What's more, a year later, and it STILL doesn't work right. North Yankton wasn't even anywhere near a complete city. They built just enough real estate to use for the prologue. R* is not going to add another city to the game. They may introduce DLC that focuses on or takes place in parts of the map that players don't necessarily frequent, like Grapeseed, but the next time R* undertakes the creation of a completely new city, by the time they're done, it will be time for GTA VI to go gold.

For real. The state of Los Santos is the biggest open-world sandbox on gaming history. Chill out and enjoy it.

Everything you've said is correct, except that R* have expressed their intention of introducing past (and future) cities/locations to GTA:Online in the future.

I completely agree that R* aren't going to dedicate years and years to making brand new maps just to stick onto the side of the current map. In fact I don't think ANY new landmasses will ever be added to the current map, but I do expect to see R* add any new locations from future GTA titles to be available locations when playing GTA: Online, and I also expect (as any new GTA game is going to be YEARS in the making) that R* might add the GTA:IV map (LC) as a GTA:Online location between now and the next actual game to help bridge the gap, and R* have demonstrated in the past that they love to reuse assets.

Yankton.

Story prequel would be a great dlc. Would pay 20 bucks for it.

Even if it comes as glorified dlc like Vice City, I'd be ready to pay more. My money values quality.

Homemade Dynamite

It'd have to be North Yankton, because it would be the easiest and cheapest to implement.

I don't see them creating any NEW areas anytime soon, if ever.

Only they said they'd be adding new locations to GTA Online, smartass.

Yes that is why. Remember that we, for one reason or another, haven't been shown pictures or other footage of the northern part of the map.

It raises some thoughts, and I really can't understand why they don't show Paleto Bay or the northern highway...

There was the exact same speculation before GTAV was first released. (Some) People thought that the area of the map that hadn't been showcased in previews etc. was hiding some extra city or something. Turned out is was just a not particularly interesting area of the map.

I would be very surprised if there were any new loacations on the map for next gen or in future DLC.

Actually, Liberty City would not be the easiest. You say North Yankton is not a complete map, but that depends on how big Rockstar want it to be to serve it's purpose. Liberty City would require a fair bit of work.

But let's face reality, Rockstar ain't gonna give us sh*t in regards to anything cool like a map extension.
