I don't think it's happening. Those two cars exploding in the first person trailer looks exactly the same as last gen.

 

There is still hope, but no evidence.

They have said it will be improved but we don't know how.

 

I'm guessing the scratches and dents will have better textures, they may tweak the deformation too and perhaps add more detachable parts. Not having metallic scrapes on plastic bumpers would be good too.

I'm curious as to how damage will reflect via first person when in a vehicle.

 

When you crash into something that won't move, (unbreakable wall, a building, a semi), will the character react like in Far Cry? Will the character 'check' his/herself to resonate the idea that they're freaking out/checking if they're dead or not? Will we bash our noses/foreheads against the wheel or dashboard if we get rammed from behind, if we get broadsided will it show our character jolting to the left or right, depending on the root of contact of another vehicle..

 

I'm also curious if the interior will show the car once having better days too. If the car gets morphed and scrunched, will the dash begin to trail smoke, will the glass on the gauges break and stop working, can the seats get torn apart by gunfire? If bullets make their way through the windshield will we see bloodstains on the seating?

 

Sooo... many.... questions...

In the FP helicopter scene in the wind farm. The helicopter in front at the start is hit with a rocket, it doesn't explode instantly(but there is a small explosion) and spins out then hits a pylon and explodes quite dramatically. Is this new? I swear they usually just explode instantly?

^ im pretty sure that's new I haven't seen that before.

Don't get me wrong I love the game now, but I was disappointed when I found out the crashes were horrible. In GTA IV all I did was crash for hours

The scratch details on cars from IV was better than the details in V. I hope at least they put more attention on these details.

So realistic... i can see a few problems with fun tho. People don't like when their car has a scratch, and they immediately change cars if they see 1mm scratch. At least these OCD freaks in gta do.

I hope the instantly explode if you land the wrong way thing is sorted too. It really annoys me than you can drive flat out into a wall and be fine, but land badly after a small drop and you are instantly killed. Rolling down Chiliad would be so much more fun if your car didn't instantly explode upon hitting the ground. It seems like an excuse to hide poor damage modelling for big impacts.

This was how it was in Trailer 2. When the Lazer/cut jet shot missiles at the police helicopter, it got damaged but didn't explode instantly.

Lol.. I'm one of those OCD freaks.. I don't change cars though, I drive to the nearest Pay n Spray or Switch Characters and back to fix it.

Having said that, the more damage the better! GTA IV Damage was freaking amazing, something like that and I'll be a happy Dodo.

I could be wrong but the damage as always seemed to be there but the settings just need tweaking so it shows easier.

The damage is just like IV but the cars are way harder to deform. They need to increase that damage sensitivity preferably even more than it was in IV . Also it would be better if bonnets bend upwards and also wing mirrors fall off. I also hope plane and heli damage is improved and they can be split in more pieces. I missed the feature to lose your heli's tail so much in V.

The current default vehicle damage should be how it is when you upgrade to 100% armor.

 

0% armor should drastically be different.

They just need to fix visual damage, not how fast vehicle explodes! If by damage they mean fixing how vehicle deforms each time it hits another vehicle or solid wall, then i only welcome it! If they mean actually taking less punishment before explosion, then hell no! The first hit by the vehicle you drive with another vehicle or any other solid obstacle should lead to immediate deformation and not like it is now in vanilla game! I'm sure though that even if R* won't do it, there will most definitely be mods, that will be able to do it, though i hope there won't be need for that and R* acknowledges situation themselves and address it accordingly!

I think alternative 1 is what people want, not that the cars should blow up easier. Atleast thats what i want, be able to crash and do some barrel rolls that actually damage the car.

That's one thing that disappointed me was that the damage was better in gta iv, also I think the pedestrians reacted better on IV when they got hit, and the last thing was the car exploding instantly, I wanted to drive off mt chilliad before it released and when I tried it I wasddisappointed, but hopefully the new version will be better
