Merryweather's "Backup helicopter"--does it DO anything?

Its supposed to work on anyone trying to kill you(NPC included). But it doesnt always work and sometimes they just sit there.

Best option is to stay stationary.

I tried it at the Grove st Ballas area during a gang shootout, and they shot any gangster with a red circle that was shooting me. As well as the police that were attacking me.

I've called them several times now; when being chased by the police, when being chased by Mercs, and other players, and other than flying around in their Buzzard, have done didley-squat. Money down the tubes.

 

What am I doing wrong? When, and in what circumstances, do they actually kill an enemy for you?

It typically only works PVP. Once someone shoots at you or at them they will back you up. I never use the feature because I have my crew to back me up.

i get more annoyed by the pickup helicopter. I use it to just get a helicopter easily but f*ck me does he have trouble landing quickly. Some times he just hovers endlessly like a moron before i snipe him and he crashes the damn thing

I called them a couple of times but they didn't do anything so i shot the f*ckers down. It's not worth it IMO

I saw a bunch of people, maybe 8 players, having a fist fight in the horse arena at Madrazzos. Couldn't resist, so I called in the backup chopper. All hell broke loose. They all were killed at least once, a few of them several times.

well, it helped me to get the sheriff's suv when i had 4 stars.

if memory doesnt fail me, i have used merryweather helicopter backup only once...

 

i use it on a madrazo mission... you know that mission you have to go to a house, kill a guy, take a pic of the dead guy and escape the cops...

 

i use it on that mission and it was such a waste.

 

at that time the payouts had been nerfed so the payout was $5,500.

 

so between the ammo, explosives, backup helicopter and lester(remove wanted), that mission was all but profitable for me.

 

that was when i was level 57, that day i stopped doing missions.

 

Death From Above. Ugh.

 

It took me months to do that, solo. I ended up doing it in a tank.

 

I've done it several times without a tank since, but really struggled to get it before that.

I've used it in a survival once when i just unlocked the ability and it did help me survive the round i otherwise would have lost. A few weeks ago i was doing a solo mision in a boat and got shot at. I calles MW for back-up and they just flew around in circles...

They're excellent decoys when you're been outnumbered or brought into a vulnarable position. I've used them a few times quite succesfully. They will force enemy players to take them down before going after you, giving you some valuable time to either flee or go to a better position.

if you aim down your weapon sight at him it speeds him up ...game can be quite realistic sometimes

It's quite useful as a distraction when you have a sniper on top of a building waiting to blow you away & you are caught underneath with no way to make it to cover or if you don't know where they are so need them to reveal their location.

Save your money, dial 911 and call police.. hold off firing as long as possible and you should have your own backup..
