My Story:(08-08-80)

I was born at August 8th 1980(08-08-1980) in a Malayan region in Malaysia, As a Chinese living in a Malayan soil as an outsider,we live in a multi-culture sociaty which included variety of races and different religion.In Chinese belief, number 8 represents "Fatt"as "GoodLuck" and i guess my mother purposely due me because of this belief. The maternity doctor even told my dad that is was very rare that a child was born at that specific time and my dad cosiderated himself a very lucky person.

 

In his mentality,i was his first born son and he think that i might bring him good luck ,so he started to gamble.From horses racing,lotteries,Mahjong,card game etc etc etc everything has anything do to with gambles he is down for it..At the first few years, our life was quite decent, some time if he got big wins and we'll have good food at the dinner table,but after a while.....things change, his addiction to gambling has lure him to several serious debts and not only he link our family to disaster but he mistrusted 300 thousands company's money(His previous job is a branch manager in a TV and electronic retail shop) .This time the employer has calling the cop and because of too afraid to facing jail-time he flee away to another state and the employer threaten once he ever dare to come back his name and Id will be blacklisted in the flight manifest,ever since i had never saw him again.

At the early stage of my childhood,my mother was suffering from depression and life was never being easy for me,from the courtesy of my mother's sister.we were able to settle down to live under the hood of my aunt's family but my mother still manage to got a job as a sewer from a local tailor shop and the wages are just enough to put food on the table and paying bills.

Living under people's house was never being convenient for me,especially my eldest cousin,i always ended up being a targeted bully victim by him and his friends,but i never fought back because i knew my place and status in the family he is always callin' me "Pokkai" in chinese mean "Peasant".During football match,they purposely kick the ball out of the street far away from the field and ask me to picked the ball back from the road,i remember i nearly hit by the car several time when trying to pick the ball back.

Life in school also very tough for me during my early age because we had to learn other races languages in Malayan soil -(Malay,Mandarin,english)and sometime i almost forget that i am a Chinese.

After graduating from high school in year 2000, i further my study in a well known famous college in Kuala Lumpur in account studies.As a teenager studying in a fancy college surrounded my rich kids whose daddy can afford them to drive a Mercedes-Benz and wearing bling-bling fancy clothes and expensive handphone during 2000 at that time to be honest i really envy of them,most of the kids just going to college to showw'off their $1000 fancy high-tech NOKIA (I don't even know what is model),and they don't really going to the college to study,they just come here and show'off and meet girls and party,clubbing and stuff.But i keep tellin' myself to stop envy to them and "appreciated what you have now and don't think of things you don't have" to survive i had to work as a banquet waiter in a well known 5 stars hotel in SUNWAY LAGOON and continued my study just enough to cover up my living cost-room rental,food and drinks etc...... This is very stressful and exhausting,and my grades dropping and because i spend more time to work,i ended up sick because not having enough rest,some time i had to work 18 hours from setting tables and partition and midnight shift they pay double.

Life is so merciless, and you'll never know what danger is awaits for you until it come.At the second semester in college,something big is coming which change my entire life,there was a rich kid in my class who claimed that his NOKIA XXXX brand new model handphone has been stolen and a girl sit behind me said she saw me took it from the boy's desk during recess hour for f*ck no reason,not even any proof or video recording.,i defend myself saying i didn't do it but the boy say he'll be waiting for me outside after the school.The lecturer which conduct the session suggest us to settle this matter outside the college, i try to avoid him after school but i can't escape my fate,his gang members already waiting outside,so the story continue like this,That boy call out his gang members and forced me to compensate his handphone after school. 5 againts 1,i was brutally attacked and loss my left eye during the fight.After that fight and stop going to college because i believe there is no future for me there,college is for rich kids and there is no place for peasant like me.With the help of one of my Malay roomate,i manages to pay for the hospital bill for my eyes threatment,doctor say my left eye visibility only remains 55% because of damaging kornea and it would be a difficulty for me to drive car especially at night in the future.So here i am now,i claimed my last paycheck from the hotel i used to work,buy a flying ticket and going back home-town with a blind eye and empty hand and for f*ck no college certificate and paper.

Coming back home is final stand for me, at least i still have a roof under my head without worrying to pay rentals and stuff,but all the relative from my mother's site says i am a losser and what a disgrace going back to the hometown like this,my mother is very dissapointed with me and not even talk to me anymore......I felt very deppressed and told them what happen but she say that i must repay the college fee that she borrowed from my uncle.Life is pretty hard for me now,with a left blind eye and no living skills and i can't even barely walk without lossing any balance and fell down at all .The only choice i've to paid the debt is working as a cheap labor in Singapore.In Asia region,Singapore a very advance metropolitan and there is a very high demand for cheap labor from Malaysia ,Indonesia ,Bangladesh.So this is the final chance of my life,one of a young man retuning to the vilage saying that there is a great opportunities working at Singapore with good paid,i was so excited at that moment and think that this might be a good chance for me.

Singapore,the new chapter of my life,during 2002,me and 3 of the young-blood from our village come to this Island country, with the introduction of the employment Agency i was manage to get a job as a permenant waiter at a 3 star hotel,they provide fully on duty training and a monthly wages of $880 Singapore dollars with food and accomodation covered,and with my previous experience in this field, i learn very fast-my daily job started at 7 AM to 6 PM, in between there is a 2 hour recess break,everyday i performs my duties assigned by my superior, My job decrption including:Cleans and polishes glassware,preparing food and beverages menu,replenish supply and obtainted request item from storeroom,Maintains cleanliness at working station and service pantry for smooth operation,sets up tables and removes dishes from the tables after service is completed etc,even though is a bit hard of work and sometime i've break the dishes because of my left eyed condition. but i proud of myself as a fully fuctionable human-being,within 2 years,i was able to settle all my debts and buy my mother a travel ticket to visit China to see the Great Wall of China.She started to talk to me again this past few years this mean that she had already forgive me

As i looked back my life from the past 10 years,who would though that a peasant like me who had no family background supported can earn a legitimate living?life is so twisted and full of suprises and youwould never know what is coming, if i didn't beaten-up by that boy and become a one-eye blind cyclop,probably i wouldn't had a chance to travel to Singapore and earn a decent living here.There is a funny jokes which spread around here in one of the most busy street which is Bugis street Singapore: Here is the joke- If you pick a small stone and climb up to one of the top level of the building, throw the stone,and the chance the small stone hitting the crowd 99.99% is a foreigner,which means the population of Singapore is swarm by people which are not originally here.

Well, i guess this is the summary of my life,i hope this thread doesn't bored you at all,

Remember"Sic Parvis Magna" from Unchated 3 which mean "Greatness From small Beginning"?i always use this phrase to remind myself that i there is no reason for me to look down of myself just because i come from a poor family and there is absolute no reason in all sort of way that i cannot become a fuctionable human being because of my bad family background,and yes we all make mistake during our youth because of ignorant and hormon rage from the past,but alway think the positive way and never closed the door for yourself,tommorow will be a better world and seek......you should find it,thank you for your time,peace

Indeed,very touching and very inspiring story and,i nearly drop my tears after reading this thread,besides some grammar mistake and i assume that English is not your native language because you are a Chinese and overall i can understand what are you trying to says here.

08-08-80 woah that is definately a very beautiful number,i mean that is just beautiful but that is no scientific explanation it has anything to do in luck,and because of this belief,this number has lure your father to gambling which ended up as a tragic to your family and the question is does the number 8 is a "gift" or a "curse"?

So have you ever tried to investigate who frame you for stealing that guy phone? Same as you i ended up this kind of situation in college before,the different is i am the one that call my homie and beat the sh*t out of that dude for callin' me a thief,and we break his nose and he got hospitalised with a broken nose and teeth and both of us got expel,hi hi hi hi hi this is the best decision i've ever make in my life,never even regret it
