GTAO: Animals?

Well, the first person turned out to be true at least. Not that it couldn't have been assumed from the trailer, but still. So this might further point out to animals in GTAO? Notice how the question is in red and there is an interrogation mark on the end of it though, maybe they were still reviewing that possibility when it was posted.

When was that posted? o.O I never remember seeing it

It was not supposed to be published so it was quickly taken down again. You could still see it through the google cached but it was taken down.

It adds to the game, so much. Part of what made RDR Online so much fun. Whether it was the danger of bears, are just trying to track the animals with a friend.

 

Hell, sharks would be an extra enjoyment. Maybe even initiation for my new group. "Want it? Take down two sharks with just a knife. We will be watching."

I completely agree, it would extend GTA Online experience.

I will be really dissapointed if it's cut out again in Online on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Rockstar made a draft around early September but it was never finalized/posted. But it was accidentally stored to the server, someone found it.

As much as I'd love to have animals Online, the fact they haven't bothered to specify it would (Rockstar nor IGN nor any other source) leaves me to believe they won't be online.

 

Unfortunately, I have to agree with this. In a very real sense, there's a competition for the attention of gamers going on between GTA V Story Mode and Online. Of the two, Online has the most draw for the long term...and R* aren't happy about that. They want both to succeed, and animals are one way they have of luring gamers to play GTA V Story Mode.

 

Many gamers typically have little to no interest in playing any game's single-player story mode (BF3, for example). I can only speak for myself, but I'm one of them; I have zero interest in playing GTA V's Story Mode.

 

Now, if R* were really smart, they would be working hard to come up with a way to somehow seamlessly merge the two worlds into one--reducing maintenance, load times, confusion as to which vehicles are in what;

eliminating competition between them, etc.

I don't see rockstar being angry about online's long term stability if anything they should and seem to be embracing it since that is what makes them money, IGN, also may have had limited content to write about although as I wrote in another thread the other day. IGN's quiz on #4 asked the question of which sport wasn't online, "golf, hunting, tennis, basketball" The correct answer out of these 4 was basketball, I was curious of a few things when finding this out, 1. out of any other sport why did they choose hunting to put there. especially when it isn't even in online. 2. if it had been a clerical error I'm sure it would've been fixed or removed by now and It has not as it was brought to the writers attention. 3. either this writer from IGN is hinting at animals online OR they did not know that animals weren't confirmed for online already which I find hard to believe.

2. I don't see the big deal over the absence of animals Online.

Variety and fun are two that immediately come to mind. e.g. Seeing some N.O.O.S.E. troopers getting mauled by a mountain lion after being chased into the countryside...

And, because RDR had animals in online, so why can't GTAO have animals?

Most of what has been leaked thus far is from people who got the game early due to either: A. being beta testers or B. retailers fecking release dates up, and sending out copies of the game early. Either way, the official launch date is coming with a 1.14GB patch, I highly doubt a patch that size (biggest thus far) is going to just be a few bug fixes. Theres a possibility that they might update the online mode through that patch, which may or may not include animals for GTAO. Only way to definitively tell for sure is to wait until it releases officially on Tuesday.

No argument from me there pal; I was just saying I don't think there is enough proof from pre-release gameplay to state either way whether animals will or will not make it into the online mode, especially when we have a substantial patch coming day one.

Aye, it could easily be a competitive mode aswell, it would be quite an original game mode too. That was my biggest problem with Last-Gen Online, there just wasn't enough variation of activities or game-modes.
