Is Rooftop Rumble broken on purpose?

I was playing with a friend some missions until RR. And what a surprise, the mission was failing by itself over and over again like if it was programmed to fail (the document was blow, out of lives). As far as I know rockstar didn't want us to play RR so did they have done this on purpose?

PD: I play a lot of missions in a row by selecting screen and none of them fail until you play RR.

As strange as it seems I don't believe they can fix it. It's been broken for around six months now. Effin Lazers is broken even worse and again they show no ability to fix it.

They didn't break it on purpose, but they changed it so many times that I feel it is broken beyond repair.

Like, it seems to me that they didn't clean up some mission fail triggers or something with all of the changes they made. If you blow up the original getaway car, the document destroys itself on spawn. Then there are other ones that just seem hit or miss. I've seen the document destroy itself because enemies were killed too quickly, because someone was camping the document spawn point, etc. etc.

The mission was flawed in the first place when you could just destroy the document and get the reward. So Rockstar fixed that, but then they realized that delivering the document didn't take that much time, so they kept buffing the enemies hoping that they would force people to take more time to kill them. After that didn't work 3 or 4 times, Rockstar decided to completely re-work the mission into the ****ing mess we have now. And I'm pretty sure there has been even more tweaks to it since the re-work.

All of this was done instead of just fixing the obviously messed up payout because logic means f*ck all to Rockstar at this point. And now we have a mission that has been tweaked so much that I don't even think Rockstar knows the exact parameters to how and why the document is considered destroyed.

2 things:

1 - If you just leave the cars that show up right before the docs spawn alone, you'll NEVER have a problem.

2 - Effin' Lazers is TRULY broken, which stinks because it's a fun little mission.

Just because you can't play it, doesn't mean it's broken. Rooftop Rumble is one of the simplest solo missions out there. Go in the back of the garage, kill all the guys, wait for the second team, skip them and drive after the documents. Easy-peasy-Martin-squeezy.

yup pretty good summary. They should have just had proper mission payouts from day one. Left this mission as it was and just made new contact missions from scratch.

This mission wasn't even named correctly for f*ck sake. This mission is high priority case.

Cause yah, f*ck logic.

It's a conspiracy.

Wait....no it's not. It's just a "sh*t happens" situation.

Why are you even playing Rooftop Rumble anyway?

Yeah, it was pretty obvious from the start that High Priority Case and Rooftop Rumble had their names/payouts swapped for some reason.

It's not like they never changed payouts before. I remember that Violent Duct had a really high payout (like 15 to 18k) and that changed within the first few patches.

Why was Rooftop Rumble so ****ing special that they couldn't just fix the name and/or the payout?

These posts, but especially the highlighted portion.

And:

Yes, it's for you morons to stop playing it only and actually play the game. Man, some people...

It almost feels like Rockstar thought that the above was the solution for the numerous complaints they received regarding how seemingly any and all Quick Jobs, Random Jobs and Game Invites were to/for only RR. People will certainly play a "broken" mission less, right?

Rhetorical.

But, yeah, if you absolutely must play RR, ignoring any and all reinforcements that arrive will help you avoid the mission failure bug, as previous posters have suggested. Just be sure to clear yourself from the parking lot before they arrive to avoid heavy gunfire.

In fact, you can clear the parking lot of all thirteen "professionals" without ever hitting the yellow marker. Use a long range weapon like the Heavy Sniper and acquire different vantage points from afar. After you've cleared the lot, get in a vehicle and drive by, as to trigger the yellow marker. Then, head towards the bridge behind the lot and soon enough, the vehicle with the documents will spawn. One more kill and you're on your way.

well, it was nerfed on purpose for a good reason(its still to overrated) but that sounds like a bug :/

I wish they would fix the name, as it has NOTHING to do with rooftops; at least 'the parking garage' takes place on the rooftop of the parking garage.

'The Parking Garage' = Rooftop Rumple

I've seen idiots in the 200+ levels blowing up those second string of enemy cars. Not just a one mission fail, but at least three failed in a row.

Use your brain, dorks.LOL

In my opinion the hate for Rooftop is exactly the same as the hate for Adders. People think it's cool and edgy to hate them.

Yes, it's for you morons to stop playing it only and actually play the game. Man, some people...

Not sure if you meant this in jest but Rooftop IS part of the game. It's a mission; it's part of the game.

Also, i don't understand how Rooftop is broken or it needs fixed. I do Rooftop quite a bit to make some very easy cash before going into freeroam, doing more missions, joining a car meet etc and have never had a problem with it.
I drive up, get out car, kill people, blow up 2 cars, catch the car with the documents, shoot driver, pick up docs, take them to the Martins house and get a very easy 11-13k.
Never had a problem with it and i've been playing since early in the year. Yes it's changed slightly but it' still 'works'.

I have no doubt someone will make a very clever comment about my opinion.

Well, a lot of ranting, but not much constructive discussion of the OP. I will tell you my experience. I joined an RR invite about a week ago, first time in a while.

First, as we all know, as soon as you drop the last guy in the garage plus the one carload of professionals who come from the east (the railroad side of the block), two carloads of professionals appear from the west (the city side of the block) and start driving toward the garage. The smart people know to ignore these two cars and don't engage them, or it can fail the mission. The document will drop (guy in car with document appears) when these two cars get close to the garage.

But here is what happened that seemed to be different: Before the document dropped, a second carload of professionals came from the railroad (east side of the block), after the all the other professionals were killed and before the document dropped. I have never seen a second carload come from that direction.

To finish the story, while I was killing that second carload, the document dropped as usual and we took it to Madrozo's and passed the mission.

I have been intending to try the mission on my own and confirm (or not) if the second car ever comes from the east again.

I don't hate Rooftop Rumble. I liked it a lot more when the structure of the mission made sense, though. And I get kind of annoyed that people still grind it when they have no idea how to play it.

Like someone before me said, anytime I play RR with randoms, some idiot can't figure out that you shouldn't blow up all the f*cking cars, or someone is just trolling and will keep doing it.

Just ignore the last 2 cars that come to the parking lot. And dont shoot or kill anyone because first you need to go to the yellow market

I'm not stupid man I know how to complete the mission but that doesn't mean its not seriously broken.

Its like having a new car and needing to hit the starter with a hammer and pump the throttle 10.5 times to fire it up. It might start that way but its still stuffed up. Why would anyone even say oh there's nothing wrong with it because I can finish it... You want a trophy.

Forget about RR.

What did they do to Effin' Lasers?

No idea. I haven't played it since the first time I got it.

That being said, I'm sure nobody even knows that it's broken because nobody can ever play the new missions. I'm still trying to get "Time to Get Away" to show up.
