I think I know why R* remastered GTA V

It's clearly a given that any future locations in new GTA titles will be added to GTA::Online (The Benz basically said as much), and that the game which launched GTA: Online should hold up alongside future additions.

 

It's pretty obvious that the last gen and latest gen versions were probably created in tandem, so they havn't "remade" anything. If anything, the last gen version was the downscaled version of the latest gen versions.

Generally they release a new GTA every 5 years. They already said they want GTAO to continually update and have been doing that - not very well but they have been adding new stuff.

 

Personally I'd be pretty disappointed if I don't see some proper social-orientated content added within the next 6 months. Nice little side missions n' stuff is fine as filler but they way R* was talking about GTAO (before release) I expected much more than they've already given. I was hoping for a lot more social activities really, things that would encourage players to meet up in a dynamic world and socialise/interact with eachother in interesting ways, not just shoot eachother in the face.

 

But hey, at least I can make a private server and make up my own fun with like-minded friends...

Rockstar is porting the game to the new consoles because the can do it without spending a ton of money on new development, thus increasing their profit margin. They will continue to milk GTA V as long as there are profits to be made, and will then move on. A devoted base of fan boys willing to plop down 60 bucks of their mother's money is profitable right now, but we'll see what happens when they run the numbers a year from now.

Well im not 12 im 35 and im not mentally ill, I own my own buisness renovating classic cars and/or converting the former to race spec while having degree's in mechanical engineering and design im also a landscape artist and have been for 15 odd years, so no im neither of those things.. what do you do besides troll these forums every moment you are able?

 

Your still going around convinced this is just a "port", i think the debate ends there with you, I have nothing more to say to the likes of you, your a 24 carrot fool that has social issues..

I don't think it would be suitable for R* to expand upon GTA V's world since it might milk the franchise for the future GTA titles. However, I'm not saying it's a bad idea either because R* could just cut down on costs and time to build upon what they already have. I'd give or take at least a few more years for R* to reach its full potential of combining GTA maps.

Imho, I'd rather prefer to have new GTA titles with a new open world environment because I don't like to revisit a world that has been explored countless times. Unless R* is working to create a GTA game that's constantly changing in real time, then I am all for it but that concept will not be fully realized for years to come (when fully functional VR helmets exist).

From a feasible point of view, don't forget about the first person mode. This could also change the direction of all future GTA titles for PC, PS4, and Xbone. It could be a failure of a feature or a success in taking the next step for the GTA franchise (just like how GTA III changed the direction of 2d to 3D open world gaming)

I think bottom line, this (gta even being made) IS 100% about the $$$.. And to disagree you would be deluded. BUT I do agree that people that think current gen is a port, are also deluded, I think its now clear that what I've thought all along is right, and we have been playing an early access beta for the past year.

 

Bit cheeky... But only in the saying at first that there wont be a "next gen" one, not giving us the choice to take part in/buy this early access beta..

the game is obviously not just a port, and based upon Robs fascination/assumption that everyone who is upgrading is using their mothers money, Rob himself must live at home and use his mothers money to get by.

Definition of a port:

Unless I am mistaken, they did not rebuild the new gen game from scratch. They took an existing game and modified it for a new console. The fact that they added pretty flowers and squirrels to the port doesn't change the fact that it is a port. It's the same damn game with a couple of extra features tossed in to encourage people to fork over another 60 clams.

 

There's nothing wrong with that. Game developers have been doing it for years because it's relatively cheap to do for the amount of profit you get in return. Just don't tell me that they are doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.

To a point, yes. It's hard to think ~8 years into the future (or whenever the gen after the PS4 and XBone comes out), but like the PS3 and XBox360, it will happen eventually, and what limits will there be that will break that model for old and new players?

Ok.. if you agree its not simply a port how can you agree that this was just all about money? If it was r* being greedy then just port the game as is and and wait for the money to role in..

 

People are getting confused with buisness and financial greed, they are two completely different things, but lets deal with the fundamentals first..

 

How anyone can call GTA V a early beta access is beyond me, the game set new standards, it was and is breath taking and the main game (sp) had next to no game breaking glitches so where is the evidence for this beta talk? Not being obnoxious here but have you ever played a early access beta? This was definitely not the case with gta V..

 

GtaV was hyped to extream proportions, so had the game been released in a beta state the Internet would have exploded, but again it was showered with applause, but I know what your getting at and thats GTA:O, well we all payed our money for GTA V not GTA ONLINE. the online portion of the game was R★ vision of what they wanted to achieve in the long term, this was obvious from the outset, what YOU had in mind when you made your purchase is null and void and so is the reason for your purchase (for the online portion not the SP) it was GTA v for sale not GTA ONLINE..

 

But lets take a look at gta online for second.. yes we know the issues with cloud on launch, they got caught out by the insane numbers battering the server from the word go, we can argue they should have seen this and added more servers or what ever but hindsight is a wonderful thing and bearing in mind it was the first time their system was tested under live fire and hit with huge numbers, there was always going to be issues, again hindsight is a wonderful thing..

 

Either way they sorted it and gave effected customers a ingame tub of cash, this was directly after release so its not like people were loosing characters with high lvls and huge amounts of cash, and those that did were stupid to go full bore when it was common knowledge there were server issues..

 

But apart from that gta online has worked damn well, yes its had its issues but nothing game breaking, the biggest issue was hackers and modders and glitched cash which they worked hard to stop (taking manpower away from development I might add)..

 

Now you may well disagree with the above, but let me ask you this, if the game or gta online is/was so broken why are you all still here a year on? Its human nature to drop something and move on if its not working (unless you have mental issues), the issues gta online has had have been irritating for some people, this I understand, but thats the nature of problems, but it never brought gta online to it knee's.

 

So lets get back to the business side of R★ and gta..

 

Rockstar already stated they launched on ps3/360 because thats where the market was and next gen still hadnt been developed enoughenough to be able to develop for it, its only common sense that if you are sellimg a product that you take it to the largest market, if you class this as greedy for god sake dont go into business, its simply commom sence..

 

So they release on last gen and make a shed load, this wasnt a fluke, it was a combination of good advertising a huge train of fans from previous titles and most importantly and damn good game, arguably the best game ever to be published, just because they succeeded doesnt make them thieves, it makes them good at their trade no more..

 

Since release they have put out a multitude of free patches and free content, no one NOT ONE PERSON has had to part with a penny for these updates, all of which have taken many man hours to put out, all those people still need to be paid, if it was al, about creaming us all for every dime we would have been paying for this extra content, cars/clothes/weapons/ammo was all open to charges and yet we haven't been charged one shekel.

 

Most if not all online games of this magnitude (and a damn sight smaller) are littered with underhand sales options to buy premium items, you give me one, just ONE item in game that you cannot obtain without paying with hard cash? There is non, im yet to go into a clothes shop or anywhere else ingame and given the option to buy with ingame currency OR cash, its all ingame currency..

 

But what about the dreaded shark cards, surely this is where R★ have proved they are money hungry scum bags right? We no not really... tbh quite the opposite, let me explain..

 

Shark cards are a service, they are there for people who want all the nice stuff now without having to put hours into grinding buckets of cash on missions, it allows people of this play style to have access to the game like everyone else.

 

we see this all around us in life, if you need to send me a important letter you can send it by standard post, no problem, but what if you or myself needs that letter by the afternoon? You pay a company who offers such a service and they fast track our letter.. in such a situation are you calling the dispatch driver or his company a bunch of thieving [email protected] or do you thank them for there service? Same thing here, if a guy is working 10 hours a day 6 days a week then3n has a family to attend to he doesn't have time to spend playing the game for hours on end to earn millions to buy that apartment he wants, somhe has the option to use the shark card service, there is nawt wrong with this from either side, both parties are happy..

 

I see people getting hot under the collar because shark cards are shown on some of the loading screens, why? Why is this in bad taste? You expect R★ to creat a service and nkt advertise it in some small way in there own damn product? If this was the case R★ would not exist because no company can survive with such a stupid buisness model as that!..

 

Its a loading screen ffs, that after the tenth time of seing any combo of loading screens no one reads, I couldnt tell ya what pops up on those screens anymore, its not rammed down your throat every 3 seconds like pretty much every other online game these days its discreetly done..

 

My favourite whine is this... listen to this its fantastic.

 

People whining and accusing R★ of being money grabbing thieves because if your player runs out of cash your given the option to buy shark cards.. ... .... I told you it was a good one didn't I?

 

I mean for the love of god! if your walking through a desert and come across a guy selling water do you spit in his face and call him a hounding trader or do you thank him for his services?

 

Now you may not want any water or a shark card for that matter and thats fine you walk away, tje water trader or R★ are not chasing you down force feeding you to buy, just like the water trader in the desert R★ are positioned well to target the costomers who are likely to be interested, its not hard to have money in this game, so if you are being constantly directed to buy shark cards then guess what? They are probably a damn good idea..

 

I have NEVER been confronted with a button to buy shark cards or part with a penny in gta online not once, a d ive never glitched a dime from this game and im also regularly dipping down to my last few k after a modding spree, but never have I had a shark card rammed in my face, its discretely mdone and positioned perfectly..

 

Its also worth noting that shark cards pay for your free updates and added content, so dont knock em, its brilliant model.. outstanding infact..

 

Now we move on to the next gen release..

 

First things first R★ have confirmed they will continue to support last gen, they are not droppimg last gen players and leaving them in the sand for new gen players, I domt know,what people expect I really don't.

 

Now that next gen is out R★ are ow able to expand gta v to realise the original dream, what they achieved on last gen hardware is black magic, simple as that, do you know the specs of a last gen console? if that were a PC you would struggle to open Internet Explorer before fallimg to sleep waiting never mind running something like gta at the speed and quality it does..

 

So it gets announced for ps4/XO, although we know little so far kts easy to see they have put a lot of work into whats there and we can see as of now, it looks insane, the addition of 1st person alone must have taken serious effort, all while we were getting regular updates and added content and seasonal surprises like snow and clothing, weapons and clothing all free, so do you expect rockstar to stay last gen or keep pushing and leading the market, offering customers ever more?

 

I play a game "the walking dead" by telltale, great devs and all but I purchased both series on 360 and fully enjoyed them, but your save is used from each episode to keep track of all your choices in the game, its just been released on current gen, only to find out that when season 3 is released I will need to buy the EXACT same game both series again for season 3 to mean anything as saves are not compatible with last gen! Now thats being cornered..

 

What has gta cost you since buying it? 60 shekels if your brought it on release? Less if you purchased latter on, now tell me how much you would have spent simply on subscription to any other mmo (yes I know gta isnt a mmo but its sitting in the grey area and leaning more mmo than standard mp) with constant updates, then factor In premium items that are forced onto you.. now tell me gta is all about the $$$$..

 

Gta is the bargain of the century, and how people can say they are money grabbed scumbags is beyond me, you only parted with the initial purchase price, nothing more, so this idea of being all about the doh is null and void..

 

Upgrade or don't or wait what ever its your choice, but dont go aroumd slamming R★ for selling a next fen game which is obviously superior, if your not smitten with the way R★ have gone with development thats your opinion, nlt fact, its their game not yours, and I trust R★ a hell of a lot more than anyone on this forum with development direction thank you very much, most people on this forum find it hard to to put together a coherent post that makes sense never mind arguably the best game on the plannet right now..

Oh, I'm sorry. I must've missed the part where R* threaten your family unless you buy cash cards?

 

It's a f*ckin OPTION! You do not NEED to buy them to progress. Season passes are worse. DLC packs with price tags are WORSE. Pre-order "bonuses" are WORSE.

 

There is NOTHING in GTAO that you NEED a cash card for. Go on, prove me wrong...
