I think I know why R* remastered GTA V

Its not only about the money or about the game running on its true potential. Its about where the series is heading and the future of gta online. Think about it, why spend millions on so much detail in the map then completely start from scratch with gta 6?, I believe we are going to be in los santos for a lot longer than we expect, I think the map is going to expand and be altered, but we are going to play through it while this happens, it would be a true changing environment in gta o. It might be like small maps add-ons with dlc (gta 3 size) and this will last until next gen (meaning gta 6 will launch on ps5, xbox half) and it would have gta v map in it but it would be hugely altered and there would be a new map that would be the same size as size or if not larger. This is very possible because if you ask any fan of the gta series they would tell you that they would prefer the next gta to have the previous gta map in it.

 

We've heard R* say that they would like all the gta cities to be together, I think this might be the start of it, but we won't see it coming to shape until next gen, we might go half way through the process with current gen (maybe they'll add lv and sf to this gen and vice city with next gen, etc.). Also gta v being 4k on pc suggests R* knows something that we don't, such as its going to be around for awhile and they prepared in advance (4k going to be the new 720p in gaming) , it also seals the deal with 4k gaming on consoles, if gta v can't run at 4k on current gen consoles, then what can?.. So yeah what you guys think? and also when do you think R* is going to release the pc trailer at 4k, or the PS4 to PC comparison video lol or even worse PS3 to PC.

It's what Rockstar said before they released it. GTA Online is gonna continue for years and evolve. OP just hasn't read much about the game since release.

If they want GTA Online to move forward they have to keep it on the current generation consoles instead of the obsolete PS3 and 360. It's not rocket science.

I also want to believe that "we are going to be in los santos for a lot longer than we expect", and that they expand the rest of the map with paid DLCs and stuff, but nah... I think it's more likely that they just want to release a remastered version of the best-selling videogame ever because a lot of their audience has asked for it, simple as that.

4K is only for pictures and videos, not gaming.

 

My assumption was that this was basically an upscale on PC.

I think its take-two who is forcing R* to go down the cash card route and milk their fans. R* can't really do nothing about it, only hope in the gta franchise going back to the glory days is getting a less greedy publisher.

Anyone who thinks Rockstar - or any other business - isn't in it for the money, has to be either 12 years old or mentally disabled.

 

Rockstar is porting the game to the new consoles because the can do it without spending a ton of money on new development, thus increasing their profit margin. They will continue to milk GTA V as long as there are profits to be made, and will then move on. A devoted base of fan boys willing to plop down 60 bucks of their mother's money is profitable right now, but we'll see what happens when they run the numbers a year from now.

I skimmed through your comment and are you kidding? what you wrote is EXACTLY what EVERYBODY (including R* themsevles) have been saying this whole time.

People talking like gta 6 is coming next year, this isn't CoD we are staying in GTA 5 easily for a couple of years until the next game is released.
