DavideMitra
Hi guys! Today I almost finished a mod. The mod is a modern revamp of the run-down Countryside safehouse interior (the interior you can find in places like Fort Carson, Palomino Creek, Blueberry, Angel Pine etc etc). So... I taught the mod was completely finished. But, during my tests, I noticed some strange things: 1) At 8pm some objects (mainly some partitions you can originally find inside of a L.V. casino) start to darken. At 9pm they completely change their colour and they become completely black. On the contrary, at 6am those objects begin to return normal. At 7am, everything looks very good, and every colour appears like it should be. What did I miss? 2) When building my mod, I deleted the original run-down ceiling lights and I replaced them with some nice-looking ceiling lamps. However I noticed that, during nighttime, original lights (I'm talking about lighting effects...not lamps) begin to appear. In the render window, I searched for those lighting effects but I can't even select them. It seems like they aren't objects at all. How can I fix this problem? Thanks to all of you! Here's two pics of the colour problem (before-after): BEFORE NIGHTTIME DURING NIGHTTIME Edited November 7, 2014 by DavideMitra
Kafonix
Try turning off mipmapping.
TJGM
I highly doubt mipmapping is the issue. Seems to be an issue with prelight.
DavideMitra
How do I turn off mip-mapping of an object? Will it change the original casino partition too? Let's suppose mip-mapping is not the problem. So, there's no way to deal with prelight. Isn't it?
TJGM
Seriously, I've never seen this issue with mipmaps before, I highly doubt its the issue. Here's a quick and easy to follow tutorial for prelight.
DavideMitra
Thanks for the link! I had a look to the tutorial, but, before watching it, I was hoping the task was something to do with the Med. I don't know how to use programs like the one shown in the video (I suppose that's Blender or 3dsmax) and, even if I can use them, I don't know how texturing works. I mean...I know I must paint an object...but the colour will be omogeneus and will look fake. I suppose that, with my knowledge, there's no way to fix that lighting problem. I will be forced to release the mod with those lighting problems
TJGM
I know I must paint an object...but the colour will be omogeneus and will look fake. Every model in San Andreas uses pre-light..
DavideMitra
Oh ok...so, every model uses them! I changed my mind: I think that I was wrong when I was talking about fake results! Anyways, even if I can't deal with those pre-light problems, thank you really much for your help! At least now I know more things about the problem and its solution! Tomorrow I will upload my modification. I'm a beginner (I mean...this is the first and the last mod I will realize for SA) and I hope I didn't something wrong: I didn't create a new IPL, but I edited the original safehouse.IPL. I hope I didn't something crazy (I read about people that were suggesting to create a new IPL and to tweak the gta.dat file)
TJGM
All right, cool. By the way, are all these models in the original San Andreas game? They're not from another mod or anything, are they? Edited November 7, 2014 by TJGM
DavideMitra
Everything is original. My goal was to create an house revamp...but only with original in-game objects. It has been a difficult experience (however...I love this kind of challenges), because I had some problems, mainly with materials. For example, there weren't pre-built walls/ceilings/floors and, in order to create them, I had to use my creativity spirit.
