Is it just me or is the Denuvo website down?

Yep, it's down

PLOT TWIST: The site comes back up and the R* logo is gone!

That'd be some stealthy damage control sh*t, if it actually happened.

There is a lot of hate for DRM, understandably so as there have been some pretty f*cked up DRM on pc games. Always online, sh*tty servers, taking forever to load, blocking all attempts at modding etc etc. and often someone finds a way around it all anyway, meaning the people who paid are stuck with it whilst someone is playing the game unrestricted and for free. I hate this sort of DRM, but unfortunately this seems to be how the majority of DRM works.

I'm not against the concept of DRM, I have no problems with stopping people stealing the game. But the DRM should have no negative effect on legitimate users. That is where most DRM goes wrong and why everyone hates it so much. We should stop raging at rockstar over speculation and before we know the facts. If this DRM turns out to be sh*t then we can rage at them.

If the DRM doesn't stop modding, doesn't require an online connection, doesn't affect performance and doesn't require me to start and login to some extra sh*tty service like origin or uplay then I can't see any problems with it. I don't mind steam, I was against it at first but it's pretty unobtrusive and does have a lot of good deals on games.

Rockstar have voiced their support for modding in the past, giving it as one of the reasons people still play GTA games years after their release. I doubt they would make it impossible to mod. And if they do then there are going to be a lot of skilled modders trying to find a way around the restrictions.

First sensible post I've seen around here.

How bad are the problems really with Denuvo and FIFA 15/Lords of the Fallen? I haven't played neither of those two.

Furthermore, is Denuvo always-online?

Three DRM systems (Denuvo, Steam, R*SC) sucks but as long as neither uses always-online and I don't have to worry about activation limits and changes of my system configuration (like I had to worry with SecuRom) I'm okay with DRM. Still, I wish it wouldn't use Steam for retail copies.

As long as I can just install the game on Steam and click "Play" and get launched straight into the game, I'm happy.

Yup this.

As long as this "Denuvo DRM" only affects the Online component and leaves the Single Player component alone, I hope that is the lesser of two evils. :)

Cheers.

Need a better source on that... Looks like someone emailed them and got a reply, but that image could be fake.

It's probably real though. Will wait for something official.

Is it possible that Denuvo is partnered with Rockstar in something else? Something that doesn't involve video games?

Since I see they're also partnered with companies like Ford and Amazon, which have nothing to do with games, lol.

Having difficulties thinking of what else they could be doing, though. I haven't had a chance to read up on Denuvo completely, since the site went down. So I don't know what else they do, besides DRM...

I said this already it's not linked with GTA V, They used SecuROM for IV that's why they say they're partners.

I suggest one of you to mail them about IV and Denuvo aka SecuROM.

Not again.

Not. Again.

I was really hoping for mods that increased the game's longevity, examples such as ICEnhancer, vehicle mods, and, most of all, the community. If this "Denuvo" or whatever it's called doesn't allow mods to be used for the game, I will be very disappointed.

Seeing as Rockstar even promoted popular mods and youtube channels for GTA IV, I wouldn't see this coming from a mile away. But if this does get implemented, and it does not allow mods in any way, shape, or form to be used for the game, Grand Theft Auto V, that PC gamers have been anxiously waiting to play for over 3 years, then Rockstar you have a huge mess that you need to clean up.

For those who's thinking it's all about piracy:

IF THIS DRM GOES WITHIN THE GAME, THEN YOU CAN FORGET EVERY KIND OF MODDING ON GTA V!!!

Maybe this DRM is not for GTA V, maybe for an upcoming PC title besides GTA V. :panic:

IMO

I don't trust that PR email. If they put the Rockstar logo up only in May 2014, then you bet your f*cking ass it means GTA V on PC is using this technology. And don't think just for a minute because a company tells you something today means it will be true tomorrow. Need I remind anyone of certain things.

"GTA V will be release on PS4, XB1 and PC in Fall."

On week later

"GTA V has a release date! November 18th you will be able to purchase the game for PS4 and XB1! Enjoy the game with.... *full article about the game's release on consoles*"

After awhile of people raging about PC release

In the comments section of the same freaking article: "Oh sorry guys PC is coming January 27th. We need your console moniez first"

Hi guys got some news for PC players.

Rockstar will use new DRM system in GTA 5 for PC. This system is Denuvo, which also used in FIFA 15 and Lords of the Fallen.

This System uses special code which changes every time so this DRM is still not hacked, and I think it wont be.

No more piracy on PC and only way you can play GTA 5 its Steam.

Got this info today. Also today Denuvo updated partners on their site. Rockstar now here too. So its confirmed.

I think it is good they fight piracy, but Denuvo is very hard DRM and some people can have crashes or another issues like in Lords of the Fallen.

What are you think?

Lords of The Fallen and FIFA 15 are both cracked.
