V PC to use Denuvo DRM

Russian Mafia

Recommended Posts

Prepare yourselves for a lot of instability issues and ingame bugs.

Now that the PC gaming community has grown very large, it has become only a matter of hours before the copy protection of a major AAA title is cracked and put up for download after its official release, or sometimes, even before. However, it looks like CI Games is having great luck with its recently launched next-gen video game known as Lords of the Fallen, as its PC DRM still remains uncracked now after 3 days of release. The DRM solution that the game uses comes from a copyright protection company known as Denuvo, and it is apparently the same one that has been used in FIFA 15, which is also yet uncracked. While this DRM has kept the game from being pirated until now, it has also been speculated that this solution is supposedly the main cause behind several in-game bugs and crashes that are affecting users' gameplay experience. To improve stability, the developer is working on a patch that is aimed at fixing all performance issues. It remains officially unconfirmed if the new DRM solution is really causing all the glitches.

Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding!

WHAT IF IT'S JUST THAT THEY'VE WORKED WITH R* IN THE PAST AS R* HAS USED SECUROM BEFORE AND THIS IS BASICALLY SECUROM RENAMED

i sure hope so, and that they didn't pick this (sadly gameshield doesn't support amd64, it seems nice to modders :( )

I read in some comments...

Oh, what a surprise. Denuvo is owned by Reinhard Blaukovitsch, former VP of...*drum roll*... SecuROM. Or former and former - Reinhard filed a patent in July 2014 which is owned by Sony DADC so I guess he now have a business on the side.

Russian Mafia if what you're saying is true then the scene has a competition who can crack it faster.

But I'll still buy it on Steam full price.

I have read this in various places, what exactly do you mean by the scene? i would like to know.

I have no doubt in my mind that it will be cracked one way or another. This always happens with games as popular as this. The best any DRM can do for GTAV is delay the crack for long enough for people to buy the game.

I am not going to explain what that means, google it instead ;p

I'm not fully sure how Denuvo's DRM system works. Hopefully it'll keep the pirates out yet have players / modders be completely unaware that it's even there.

Look, I don't have a problem with buying GTAV PC, I'll happily buy it on the first official release date

but if it turns out GTAV will no longer have modding and no simple native trainer by sjaak, then f*ck no. I'll leave GTAV then.

Basically:

Denuvo = SecuRom on roids

if it true we have a big problem

hope not true

Fifa 15 and Lords of the Fallen who both use Denuvo remain uncracked, which is a good thing. The bad thing is that Lords of the Fallen suffers from a lot of bugs and instability issues due to Denuvo. Just imagine another IV drama.

Alright guys we can all rest easy, I just used thewaybackmachine and the R* logo dates back to may 2014

https://web.archive.org/web/20140517195428/http://denuvo.com/

So yes there will be mods etc..

So what if it dates back to May 2014? It's still there -_- and it's for a reason... for GTA 5 on PC...

Not really when OP says this

Also today Denuvo updated partners on their site. Rockstar now here too. So its confirmed.

And the site dates back to May 2014 then something doesn't add up.

Okay, Rockstar. Jokes over. You've scared your PC fans to death with your humourous choice of DRM system...

I knew they were going after the most advanced DRM sofware, they prefer to bury a modding community who's waiting to get their hands on GTAV instead of losing some $.

I'm telling you, we can't catch a break with R*.

I can't imagine playing GTA V and not drive a car on a shootout with prostitutes and stripers against the cops.

Native trainer in IV was the best.

You would think that in the year 2014, going into 2015, all developers would understand the benefits of Steam and it's DRM policies. Why not use the VAC system for GTA Online? Works well enough in things like Counter Strike.

People will still be able to break it, I believe.

I WILL get my car mods, ENB mods, Simple Native Trainers, etc. Rockstar.

GG Rockstar. you tried.
