V PC to use Denuvo DRM

Just because they say this doesn't mean it's true. They could be under a contract of some sort.

At the same time, it could very well be true. No reading in between the lines required.

If that photo is real and they were under contract (and couldn't talk about it), they would say something like 'they have nothing to say about it/cannot confirm or deny/no comment' or no reply etc

..., this isn't true at all, denuvo themselves confirmed that it's NOT going to be on gta v

Wow, really?

The good part: we can play with mods

The bad part: the game will be pirated & hackers will ruin GTA Online

@Bad part: except horrible drm like securom and GFWL WAS the reason people pirated, so this should actually make there be less piraters in theory (as for hackers, all that stuff is hosted on rockstars cloud servers, so for people to hack money in gta online they'd have to hack into the rockstar cloud server's)

It's not about hacking money in Online, but using hacks to gain advantage in-game... like god-mode, speed, teleport. Also, the hackers can spawn props that may crash the game (just like in GTA 4 PC version...)....

I think a DRM which eliminates hacks / injections into the game (Online I mean), would be cool. No more hackers.

The DRM is very bad for the modding community. It would be great if someone starts a petition asking R* to support modders, for instance by providing some kind of API or interface for modders. The GTA online editor goes a little bit in this direction, but that's not enough!

Remember R* wants to support GTAV as long as possible? This IS possible.

By not implementing DRM in singe player.

The Denuvo website has been blank for at least 15 hours now. I do question some of the "partners" they listed - perhaps part of the reason it's blanked out right now.

The logo they had for Microsoft used the older style "Microsoft" lettering with a heavily tilted old-style Windows logo at the top.

Ford is listed for some reason despite there being nothing I can think of from Ford that would use DRM like this.

Take-Two is listed, yet nothing is developed/published under the T2 banner - it's always either under 2K or Rockstar. Seems odd to say the company T2 uses it, then have a separate listing for just one label in it.

DRM in cars isn't that far from reality: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/11/drm-cars-will-drive-consumers-crazy

Cars do have firmware that may need protection and also service software requires too. (Generally these use hardware DRM, which again is something they do too).

Besides software and hardware DRM, they also make Screen Pass protection for movies.

It's obviously gonna be Online, R* are f*cked if they disallow mods, and they know it, mods are the REASON why GTA IV is still popular to this day.

f*ck that sh*t. I have preordered GTA V and gonna play this game day one. f*ck DRM I'm still gonna have fun with this sh*t. I won't wait for any f*cking reviews how the game performs,

I have waited long enough and no f*cking DRM will stop me from playing it.

Denuvo will be the reason that many people will crack the game. DRM and casual players are the cancer of the nowadays gaming.

Just let them implement whatever DRM but only for GTA Online. I don't want to stare at the GTA V folder when I have no connection... IMO that's just stupid.

SimCity 2013 suffered from this too but apparently you can now play it offline which is pure awesomeness. I get that companies don't want their products to get pirated but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DECENT EXPERIENCE don't ruin your products with horrid DRMs.

Let's just hope they're going to use one good DRM. I don't think people will enjoy a crap load of annoying DRMs.

I really think GTAV will come with 2 executables, SP (modding support) and MP(no modding).

I sure hope so. Maybe they could make it optional? Like when installing the game, it will ask you if you want them separate or not.

How do you want to switch characters between SP/MP modes smoothly with two exes?

Casual gamers?

Yes, those kind of players that ruins every game that we, hardcore players make them famous.

Look to the actual resident evil and world of warcraft, both franchises got ruined by the cancersuals players.

Great news. PC-players very often want games for free and the only way to get them to pay is to play hardball.

Wait, what the f*ck?

If you're going to generalize everyone, include consoles as well.

I think you're confusing "Casual" with something else.

Uncle Sikee Atric

This is all still speculation....

Until there is something more concrete we cannot say how this will affect the game. In reality we should all be calming down and waiting for further news, not accusing, blaspheming and questioning each other like moody 10 year olds!

There's no reason why modding support isn't possible, or not. Do we have proof other than a simple picture and a snooper doing a bit of digging to find a very 'general' point on the web.

Just wait and see what happens, then we can progress from there.

Until then, this is fine by me, so long as legitimate modding isn't affected by it. If R* get it right, then it will not be a hinderance at all, just a little extra protection to stop piracy.

And stop whining about Steam in this forum, Steam is nothing to do with Denuvo!

No I am not going to play using Steam on my PC.

f*ck Steam. They are not worthy to smell my sh*t.

And yes, I WILL be able to play it without Steam.

If this is like LA Noire and Max Payne 3, then yes the Retail version will not have Steam requirements.

I only play single player, so I am not really bothered by any of this.

Well, this could affect mods.

What has been made by a man can be disassembled by a man. It will get cracked eventually but i'll buy the game on the 1st day even if it has a sh*tty DRM.

Apparently Denuvo's co-owner says it's not true:

http://www.incgamers.com/2014/11/grand-theft-auto-v-will-not-use-denuvo-drm-says-company-co-owner

Hopefully this is true (well it's true that it's not true). Because I was really about to cancel my pre-order.

Seeing what this thing has done to Lords of the Fallen, half its buyers complaining about crashes and various other bugs.

I think this is being blown out of proportion. As I said earlier, this would only affect the Online part of GTA V.

Cheers.
