Popular Post Broughy1322 Posted November 6, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Since this has now been pinned (EDIT: Well it was for a short time anyway) it makes sense to re-organise this first post to keep things up to date. However I will leave the original post down below for those who are interested. So basically this is me testing every single fully upgraded vehicle in GTA around a proper racing circuit to find which is quickest. This isn't about finding the car with the highest top speed, the bike with the best traction, or the best car to use when out-running the cops in free roam. It's about finding the best racing cars - the cars which, when pushed to the very limit of what they're capable of, will produce the best lap times and be the best for proper racing situations around a standard racing circuit. It's very similar to how the Stig tests cars for the leaderboard on Top Gear. As a quick explanation of what I did, I bought, fully upgraded, and tested around a balanced racing circuit every single vehicle that can be used in a race in GTA Online. I did this multiple times until I achieved a lap time that was the limit of what that vehicle was capable of, and then listed every car in the game based on those lap times. I've done this before with stock vehicles that some of you may already know about, but this took it one step further. More detailed information can be found in the intro video in the list below. I then released videos in a huge countdown format listing every car from 140th down to 1st, regardless of class, which still exist in the original playlist. However since then I've been releasing videos in class-based format which can be found in the links below, and produced a detailed spreadsheet for easy viewing. If you simply want to watch all the videos without clicking links all the time you can find the playlist for the series here: . This will also be constantly updated as new videos and cars arrive on the scene. Hopefully this thread and the information I've found will be helpful to people wondering which cars to use for races on GTA Online. I go into more detail about the specific characteristics of each car in the videos but you're of course welcome to just base your choice on lap time. Of note is that the original countdown with all cars shown at once doesn't include any cars from next gen onwards. The class specific videos for sports and muscle do. Thanks for reading and hopefully watching TL;DR - Every car in the game fully modded, tested around a track for lap times, and presented as a huge countdown to see how quick they all are in comparison to each other.
Standard Racing Classes Including Updates Non-Standard Classes & Extra Videos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original Post 6th November 2014 Hi all. For the past almost two weeks now I've been releasing videos on a daily basis that have been parts of an overall countdown of the best fully upgraded cars in the game. We're now nearing the end of that countdown. I wanted to let everyone in this community know about this countdown to hopefully provide some more people with useful information relating to cars that can used to be successful in races. The entire playlist is here: (UPDATE: Scroll to the bottom of that playlist to see class specific videos which also include new cars from next gen and the festive update) As a quick explanation of what I did, I bought, fully upgraded, and tested around a racing circuit every single vehicle that can be used in a race in GTA Online. I did this multiple times until I achieved a lap time that was the limit of what that vehicle was capable of, and then listed every car in the game based on those lap times. I've done this before with stock vehicles that some of you may already know about, but this is taking it one step further. The video below explains in much more detail exactly what I did so if you are wondering feel free to look at that, or simply click the link above and watch the countdown in order (or however you want). At the time of posting this we only have the top 20 cars left to cover over the next 3 days. At the end of the series I will do some analysis on the list and also release a spreadsheet containing the lap times of all the cars and a whole host of other information pertinent to car performance, usability, and cost. Going beyond that I'll also be focusing on the next gen new cars and going in depth on whether any changes made to next gen will have an effect on the top cars in each class. All of that is to come and is something you are welcome to look out for if you're interested, but for the moment I am just presenting you with this definitive list of all cars in the game fully upgraded and tested to their limits around a "proper" racing track, for you to help in your decision about which cars to buy and use in races. I'm not one to usually do shameless self promotion such as this but when there is something I feel could be extremely helpful to a lot of people and has had so much work go into it I want to see as many people as possible get some benefit from it. I know these forums in general look down upon YouTubers but trust me when I say I'm not like the bigger guys who generally annoy you. Anyone who already follows me will be able to tell you that. I won't be able to please everyone of course, but I do hope some people find what I've done helpful at least. Also apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place - happy for it to be moved (or deleted if it's going against the rules entirely). Thanks for reading anyway, and feel free to use this thread as a discussion point for the countdown lists as a place that is somewhat distanced from the regular YouTube comments. Broughy1322 TL;DR - Every car in the game fully modded, tested around a track for lap times, and presented as a huge countdown to see how quick they all are in comparison to each other. Update 26th December 2014 With the turbo now fixed on new gen I've been able to test the new vehicles such as the Jester/Massacro Racecars and muscle cars such as the Dukes. This means all cars in the game have once again been tested. I've also started releasing class specific videos which is where the lap times of the new cars (and their placings) can be found. Scroll to the bottom of the to see these. I'll also update the spreadsheet with these lap times when I get the chance. GG14876 Posted November 6, 2014 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Seems like an interesting project... Would love to see the spreadsheet of results; no offense, but I just really prefer spreadsheets to videos... I'm guessing that you aren't going to be checking the various combinations of Power, Braking, Suspension and whatever else to see if some combinations are better in corners than all-max or similar situations? And what about other "non"-performance upgrades like Armor, Cosmetics and Wheels? I think I've heard that armor and cosmetics slightly slow you down but that it is almost unnoticeable unless you're doing 15 minute laps already, that wheel types have some difference but again, almost unnoticeable... Sugar Free Nos Posted November 6, 2014 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Aww yeah, it's my man Broughy. The series has been great so far! Can't wait for the top 20! Seems like an interesting project... Cosmetics and armor do not slow you down, I don't see a point in testing combinations since all of the upgrades provide a boost in stats without a penalty, and you can find the difference in tires in his video here: RoachKiller_416, Broughy1322, Ender_Sai and 8 others 11 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
As the original post says I will be releasing a spreadsheet and doing a bit more of an analysis video at the end No testing of combinations. Any previous testing I've ever done has shown that you simply want to maximise everything. Anything else will produce slower lap times. And again from previous testing I've done armour and other cosmetic upgrades like body modifications do absolutely nothing to car performance. Wheel types on the other hand do have an effect so I use off-road wheels for all the cars in this series (as shown above). This and more is all explained in the intro video though Whilst I know you say you don't like videos, it's much easier for me to point you to that than type it all out again hehe DarkSavageDeathlyCloud and Sugar Free Nos 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Does that mean that fully upgraded, the Sultan beats some of the high end sports cars? It does indeed. It has done rather well Quick question for you almighty guru. Can I still reap the benefits of off road tires by choosing the "stock wheels" option? Well since the 1.17 patch the stock wheels option shows the stock wheels for every car despite the type you're looking at. So if you're in the off-road section with a zentorno the stock wheels won't be off-road wheels. In that instance you wouldn't get any off-road wheels' benefits. However if a car already has off-road wheels as their stock options (or perhaps even tyres with larger sidewalls) then you'll get the benefit from that. dead goon 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
It cuts out many variables. Why do you think Top Gear does it. If you have one good driver driving each car on the same track you can compare them On a side note. sparky66 Posted November 7, 2014 Share Posted November 7, 2014 These are pretty well done videos. Usually I am against self promotion on here as most GTA V videos are awful (I won't name names but you know who) but these videos give some useful information and to my knowledge aren't something that has been done before. You have obviously put a lot of time and effort into these. Those cars must have cost a fortune, where did you get the money? These videos really show how broken the vehicle class system in V is. The vehicles should be grouped by performance, not body style. The fact there are such a mix of well matched vehicles that cannot be raced together due to the stupid class limits ruins racing as most people stick to the 'best' vehicles in each class. It would be great to race, for example, a Bullet with some of the sports cars but the class system won't allow it, forcing the Bullet to race against far superior supercars. Although I have won quite a few races with my Bullet as it seems most players cannot drive! Rockstar should throw away the body style based classes (which are all wrong anyway, for example the Bison is considered a van when it is a pick up, the Felon considered a coupe when it is a sedan etc.) and replace them with a forza style performance rating system. Thanks I appreciate that! I made a video beforehand asking for donations from my subscribers and I managed to get enough money to buy and fully upgrade every car in the game by purchasing shark cards. Those who helped are listed at the end of the intro video. What you say is correct about the class system and it's something I'll be making a video on when the series is complete. My idea was to just get rid of the body style system for upgraded cars, instead having performance related classes. So when custom cars are on you can then race cars that are close on pace with each other. It would make racing and car selection a lot more interesting. Don't tell me you play Hattrick?
