Grand Theft Auto III Pre-Release Discussion

There is unused frame found in the GTA 3 Flash Animation. If you click on Staunton, there is Callahan Bridge, but you can't click on it. Due to the error, "commercial24" sub swf isn't linked with the main swf file, so it isn't active. Sadly, nothing interesting there, just a render of that bridge.

In addition, there are more unused sub swfs, but they appear to be copies of other frames. That would be osum, if someone knows how to track all these sub swfs in R*'s server.

Unused frames, which I found by changing the number in the download link.

Thought I'd leave this teaser here. The vehicle renders were found by Mr. Jago.

We'll be releasing full images as we remake the car models and find more renders. :)

Looking through these pictures reminds me of Saints Row 2, which felt more like GTA 3 than any of the later GTA games.

one of the car looks a bit HD , eh ? or is it just my eyes ?

The Brigham render is actually HD.

The rest are normal III model quality.

I am just curious, where were they found?

capital autos website, literally one night I decided to see if changing this url:

http://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto3/flash/capitalAutos/large/aster.jpg

to this:

http://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto3/flash/capitalAutos/large/stretch.jpg

worked, and so it did, resulting in a once unreleased render of the stretch. once I showed the chat everyone went crazy and we spent a good few hours guessing most of the names, and here we are now :)

Awesome work! I might give a try to bruteforce it as well.

We were really glad when Jago found these unseen renders. More content for the people at GTA3D to recreate.
Son of Big Boss is sure as hell gonna love this.

If someone is interested, these cars were found under these names. Kudos to these people, who guessed them. Who knows how many are still left.

UPDATE

According to this old picture, there is also Linerunner and a red sport car.

And maybe more since the Taxi, Police Car, Police Boat, Fishing Boat, and Subway Train render's were previously unknown. The tank was mistaken to be just a recolored Rhino and not an APC.

I wonder if someone could find out the names of each pic without trying to guess. Like somewhere on the site where they are stored or something.

The database is set to forbidden. It's locked in their htaccess file on their server.

Our best shot is bruteforce.

What exactly does that mean?

Yes this is the link. I tried already mirroring the whole site, but R* set it as forbidden, so i cant see which files are stored there. for all we know there could be a zip with alpha stuff and we never find it :p

you try every possible combination until you find the right one.

Actually, how do you guys plan on doing that? It sounds impossible and very time consuming.

Wow, great finds guys!

It wouldn't be too hard to write a program that can bruteforce the URL. Have it generate some words and see if the page 404s with that word. If it doesn't, then add that URL to a list, or, better yet, download the picture. It might be smart to limit how fast it sends requests, as Rockstar's servers may pick up on the fact that they're receiving tons of requests.
