Inadequate 3,728
^ Yep, most probably Shoreside. Staunton is like the commercial zone and Portland the industrial zone.
X/R// 457
GUYS! this is the alpha map!!1!! you can see the houeses: Nah but seriously. where would these houses fit? shoreside? i ve always imagined shoreside vale with those kind of houses, with more streets and stuff. the final map is really small and shoreside was rushed too much. you can see original multiplayer maps from mobile version, shoreside was meant to be really big. Filip 422
These are simply the older versions (1999) of new houses available in the final version. Edited January 21, 2015 by Filip454
Pyrrhic 795
These are simply the older versions (1999) of new houses available in the final version. Yeah, pretty sure there are houses that look like this, most likely with much less detail however. Hardware restrictions are probably what held back a model like that. Houses in Shoreside have similar roofs to that too, with second storey sitting on top of the first storey's roof. So these wouldn't necessarily exist along side the current houses but would instead replace them as a model.

Nothing new but still, worth mentioning. Same goes for the mall and a few others, some of the textures are still available. Edited January 22, 2015 by CasualSergiu
Jinx. 8,027
^Doesn't matter at all if it is new or not. This is the GTA 3 Prerelease discussion, not GTA 3 New Prerelease things discussion, so meh.
DEALUX 2,562
Remember how everyone thought that Claude was supposed to have a voice actor because you can apparently hear him say "get out of the car" in the beta trailer? Do you also remember that Rockstar denied that and said the voice sample was added by someone else and how people said Rockstar was lying? Well, it turns out they weren't lying. The GTA2 voice sample was added by someone on that version of the trailer that's circulating on the Internet because in this video (at 2:48) you can hear a version without the voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHPe45AfIsw
Jago 2,733
huh? that's not the trailer they're talking about, this is it: IIRC a version without the voice has never surfaced
Sergiu 5,462
huh? that's not the trailer they're talking about, this is it: IIRC a version without the voice has never surfaced They've added GTA 2 sounds to the trailer after recording the footage. The game was mostly 'soundless' at the time.
Filip 422
True, Sergiu. GTA 2 sounds were the sh*t! Although GTA 3 had some sounds at that point. But this trailer sounds like it was made by IGN. I think they've added some sounds + music (I don't think that R* would choose Derrick May's music). Remember how everyone thought that Claude was supposed to have a voice actor because you can apparently hear him say "get out of the car" in the beta trailer? Nah, not everyone. Some people have remembered that those sounds come from GTA 2. Edited January 25, 2015 by Filip454
DEALUX 2,562
lol my bad. I should have checked to see if it was the same trailer. Some of them are very similar to one another. Still, I believe R* was telling the truth when they said Claude wasn't at any point supposed to have a voice actor.
Jago 2,733
shocking new development: turns out the leftover first-person rocket launcher animation wasn't broken after all... it's actually set up to use VC's bones! this may very well mean that first-person mode was a concept developed after GTA III was finished, and may have been intended to be expansion pack content that was in the process of getting retooled for the next game before getting trashed completely. I may just have to update tcrf with this rampant speculation

//XP// 1,191
maybe that means that the multiplayer could have been planned as a dlc also? More like a level pack. VC was supposed to be like that to III. Just like GTA London games with GTA1. Edited March 3, 2015 by HazzardX

Jinx. 8,027
Mhm... I suppose was like, if you are playing GTA 3, inserting the VC DLC disk, then the GTA 3 disk again, I guess you would get some features from VC DLC. Maybe...

thehambone 2,922
I was looking at the map that's in the middle of the GTA III manual and noticed that the Porter Tunnel is either mislabeled or the tunnel extended to a different location in an earlier version of the game. The Porter Tunnel sign on the map is placed near Salvatore's mansion, which is near the bum tunnel that runs under Saint Marks. The map also shows two circles marked with a number 22 (which correspond to a legend, see second pic), one near Salvatore's and another near Supa Save. Perhaps that abandoned tunnel was originally part of the Porter Tunnel? Here's a photo of the map showing the placement of the Porter Tunnel sign and markers (large photo). Here's another photo showing the map legend for Portland. Number 22 is the Porter Tunnel. (also a large photo). Also, number 11: Trenton Police Precinct? The Portland police station is in Portland View! Typo on Rockstar's part? Also note that you can see some beta models in the background of the map, such as the NYPD-styled Police cruiser. super_slav 50
Apparently it was also in the websiite and gta wiki says The official Grand Theft Auto III website suggests that Portland View was not originally it's own district. Some mock police records mention the Portland LCPD station, and Baillie Station to be in Trenton, suggesting that Portland View was added very late in development. KarimNTerr 2,753
Nick Love has nothing to do with Donald Love. In fact, Nick Love is a director and writer who directed and written a 2004's movie called The Football Factory, which was published by Rockstar Games. Nick Love appears in GTAIII, but only in the "Special Thanks" section of the credits in the game's manual.
