Even GTA V feels very 2010/2011-ish, as opposed to 2013. That was pretty apparent back when the game released, but has sort of been lost to the burring of time.

A lot of people in the VI mapping thread have even pointed out that Vice City will be dated by about a decade by the time the game releases.

Oof a decade. We already know about Ocean Drive, it's been changed to a one-way street with a bicycle lane, but in the GTA6 trailer it's still a two-way street.

But I don't mind so much because I'm starting to get old enough I like living in the past myself.

On the plus side, if work on the game started during the Trump Presidency that should still hold up

The Profiteering of R*'s Collecting Scene

Introduction

This post is intended to spread content freely to the community and as a sign of protest against a certain individual who goes by "john doe", notorious in the Rockstar Games collectors' groups.

This shady individual has been able to secure a lot of content over the years from ex-developers, ranging from design assets to sensitive documents, acting as a fence to protect the identities of the ex-developers who got greedy to begin with - he certainly hasn't been shy about flexing as much either!

His M.O. has been to either promise others content that he didn't own at an increased price based on another posting, or buying stuff for cheap and then reselling it at 10x the price. He's a known fence for illegal stolen content from Rockstar and his greed has caused previous leaks, such as those of the Manhunt 1 & 2 early builds.

Greed

John Doe has proudly flexed his contacts, his insight and the stuff he's been able to gather for years. He's also engaged in further illegal acts, such as requesting personal identification documents from buyers during sales, while claiming that he's interested in the security of said assets.

Of course, we all know that's all a lie because even if he plays victim, as if he's giving back to the community by selling stolen documents, game builds and press kits and making it possible only under secrecy by saying that if anything leaks "he'd lose his hard earned trust and contacts", the man is not at all concerned with security, legality or even morals...
He could have chosen the righteous path of releasing the content freely for the community to access, or at the very least, abide by his promise of exclusivity towards the buyers.

Instead, John Doe has been cleverly interacting with different members of our community from different groups, making sure to never sell the same thing to the same group. A man worried about keeping things secret would certainly avoid such risks, no?

Well, John Doe has instead been profiting massively for YEARS by selling and reselling content to many members and gouging the market by offering higher or lower prices depending on whoever he's offering to.

Select ex-developers have made a killing off his sales while being entirely protected with him acting as a fence. John Doe has easily made tens of thousands of dollars, often times reselling the same asset priced at e.g. 2k dollars to 5 different parties.

That cannot stand AND shouldn't stand any longer - John Doe has done enough damage, to his buyers, to Rockstar and to our whole community, by being a greed-driven, deeply irresponsible bad faith actor who thinks of themselves as the Robin Hood of stolen property, giving back to select few from our community, while really actually being the town's slut for anyone who can pay the price.

Today John Doe's assets will be devalued as he won't be able to resell them any longer for profits, so to the community, here you may have internal documents for GTA San Andreas, GTA Advance, GTA Vice City Stories and last but not least, a GTA Online design document dated 2001.

And Darkel missions ! ! !

Doubt we will get anything that early, game probably wont be able to run on Darkel builds, they used a Dev Kit, best we can hope for is E3 or later.  I will be satisfied with at least blue cop cars.

Сомневаюсь, что мы получим что-то так рано, игра, вероятно, не сможет работать на сборках Darkel, они использовали Dev Kit, лучшее, на что мы можем надеяться, это E3 или более поздняя версия

We already got the LCS Builds from dev-kits. (26 July and 29 May). So why it not could be happen ? ? ? Plus, Rockstar themselves stated back in 2011 that Darkel was cut from the game late in development. And the E3-Build is dated somewhere around May 17, 2001. That is actually 5 months before the game's release!

Ya unfortunately those colorful early screenshots, I have a feeling when the game actually looked like that it wasn't in a playable/enjoyable state and a lot of the screenshots were "faked" by posing assets in cool ways.

The ex-technical director Obbe Vermeij himself said GTA3 was so buggy, glitchy and crashy during the development that on one occasion, a fellow worker of his was praised by the rest of the team as "lucky" when he was able to run the game for more than 30 minutes.

Apparently the game wasn't running at 15 FPS or above until E3 only the final builds ran at what we know it as now. Just look at the first trailer its a slideshow.

A build from those beta screenshots and original HUD would be the craziest find ever.

I guarantee you that there's probably a few CDs kicking about behind someone's drawer at work; most will be thrown away when the drawer gets moved and one no doubt has a massive scratch down the middle from being pushed under said drawer :D

So cruel, but realistic.

I really don't know if I'd take Rockstar's word for anything they said about Darkel on the 10th anniversary A&A. They also stated he originally had 5 missions, but there's no evidence (game files or the design document) to indicate he did anything more than give rampages.

One way to find out, get into contact with a former employee Obbe Vermeij. Somebody try and make concact.

@vercetti386 With what has been recently happening, that would be an insane release of a GTA3 alpha or beta build. Though, I feel as if a build was to release it would be anywhere between May 2001 (E3) and it's release.

Anyone has the opportunity to play the GTA III at E3 2001 on the Demo Stand. Maybe some man/girl copied a Build XD

Maybe 😂 !

The problem is that all the videos that i can find about the Alpha/Beta/E3 are only showing Portland and not the other islands. I want to see how the Airport was in the BETA because i know that it was different for example ...

probably full of bugs thus why they locked portland in the first place at E3.

Or maybe they're just didn't want to spoil the Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale at E3. To make more intrigue. . .

The E3 trailer showed us Staunton was unfinished, load in problems, cars that dont spawn in Portland missing textures, flickering textures, just slow down the Staunton footage. They didn't show shoreside at all so I can only imagine how unfinished and what a rush it was in.

But in E3, the game was like having just few months to be released .. would it be really the case ??

Game development was a lot quicker back then. I'm sure that Shoreside could have been put together in a few months. Hell, the absolute poor design of the island and the lack of missions there almost seem to indicate it too.
