WorthlessYouth 210
I've been following the GTA 3 beta for a very long time. Infact, that's why I signed up for this forum back in 2007, and it amazes me that even today in 2015, we're still finding new beta content. It's just fascinating, hah. It's truly amazing to see how this revolutionary game evolved from what seemed to a cartoony, open-world GTA 2 into its own dark, gritty, fully fledged title. Very disappointing that Rockstar is so closed about their game development nowadays. Edited January 11, 2015 by Azurex

Mr. Love 82
"Nick Love" is an early name for Donald Love, folks.
Sergiu 5,451
"Nick Love" is an early name for Donald Love, folks. Presumably. There is a 'Nick Love' mentioned in the game's scripts but nothing has ever been confirmed. Though it's very likely it's his beta name.

X/R// 457
The materials including textures and ped animations from the original alpha version of GTAIII. State of Emergency, a 2002 game published by R*, has a lot of original alpha materials. Here is what i have found in the game files; You can check this topic to get more info on this: http://gtaforums.com/topic/761098-rel-original-alpha-textures-from-gtaiii/ Its possible to find more stuff in the other games R* involved, so if i can get more info, i will be updating this topic. A couple of new facts: * NFS Underground has some of IIIEra textures in HD resolution. * Rampage missions were meant for Darkel, as their code were grouped under "CDarkel" section of (either mainscm or exe, i cant remember, but this is legit) (from gouranga.com) The missions provided by Darkel will replace the Kill Frenzies in GTA and GTA2.http://www.gouranga.com/nf-march01.htm
lpgunit 507
Looks interesting. If I'm not mistaken an State of Emergency was done by an outside developer, though it's likely that they had access to whatever assets R* has. As for NFSU, do you have any examples of the textures you mentioned? It could be due to texture artists taking their stuff off stock sites e.g. CGTextures or something like that.
X/R// 457
sure, let me just install the game and get some examples. it might take some time though.
Jinx. 8,001
Can't really say that all of them are alpha, but the roads look accurate.
X/R// 457
yea, but at the first set of textures, the little ones are exact copies of 3era textures, so thats making others originals, or atleast the best source till we find better sources.
SpeedMaster14 0
My first post! According to this webpage there was planned, or at least developed, animations for a first person mode/experience. There is a lot of renders for the missing people/objects, and also other animations showing (possibly) a pedestrian using a camera or drinking, among more information. Edited January 14, 2015 by SpeedMaster14
Jinx. 8,001
...nope. The camera anim is still used for peds. When a ped gets killed, they get there and use that anim. And it is not anything about cameras.

Jinx. 8,001
That is that anim. BTW... BONES! Notice the white bones. From what I seen, it is an altered version of VC bones, just non-T Pose, and no fingers/toes. This is the FPS Rocket Launcher's anim. Jinx. 8,001
Sorry for DB but... Hospital System theory: NO MONEY: -Pick the health pickup --Healthcare costs.-- -Leave the pickup's spawning place, and it will respawn shortly 100% HEALTH: -Pick the health pickup --Get outta here! You're perfectly healthy.-- -Leave the pickup's spawning place, and it will respawn shortly LOWER THAN 100%: -Pick the health pickup --I'll just fix you up. That will be $250.-- -Now you have 100% health, the pickup will respawn in the same time as in final Where those texts would appear? They would appear in the middle of the screen, exactly like 'Mission Passed!' text and the 'You don't have enough money.' text in Vice City, forgot to say that it would have the same font as the 'Mission Passed' one. Proof? -Vice City's outdated BETA III Hospital System (The NO MONEY system and the LOWER THAN 100% system [just modified with the Leftover texts]), and as VC has some other GTA 3 Alpha/BETA things in, this is a +1 for this system. -III's Leftover GXT strings. EDIT: Replaced every text with the Leftover ones. Edited January 15, 2015 by darthvader20011
R4gN0r0K 1,651
it would make more sense to make it like this: since its not that big feature that deserves a big text imo Edited January 15, 2015 by R4GN0R0K
//XP// 1,191
Well, alpha 3 was in the style of 2, regarding stuff like that. So,a big text in the middle would be better.
R4gN0r0K 1,651
but other info text like the stuff where you can only start a mission is small, and it makes sense to me that they are the same category. or maybe a mix of both? like: not enough cash? text is small on the bottom, got health pickup? big text in the middle
Jinx. 8,001
Yea, like in VC, when you get a health pickup from the hospital, when you don't have money. It is in the middle of the screen + big, so... Edited January 15, 2015 by darthvader20011
Jago 2,729
Awesome! Can you show them? sorry for late replay BUT... there's a total of five animations left only in the PC version's files with the prefix "skin_", bones are near-identical to vice city's except the finger bone names are pluralized. for demonstration purposes I'll be using tommy's model to show these off: skin_run_player - Claude's jog from PS2 version skin_sprint_civi - Claude's sprint skin_walk_player - Claude's walk skin_idle_stance - this one is pretty interesting, as it's a completely new one! looks to be an earlier version of Tommy's stance, which (with these being only on the PC) implies that all of these are leftovers from vice city's development. VC equivalent shown on the right skin_walk_player - Claude's walk (start), except the new stance seems to be spliced in here it should also be noted that all of these can be imported into VC by renaming the finger bones, though all of the animations (excluding the stance) have their root bones set much higher than 0,0,0 which results in the player floating in the air Edited January 16, 2015 by Mr. Jago
Jinx. 8,001
AFAIR that standing anim was used in the PS2 version of VC. EDIT: It is used on Mobile Versions, and maybe the PS2 one too. Edited January 16, 2015 by darthvader20011
