Read this stuff a while ago...

 

The fact that pedestrians would call the police on you if you did a crime of sorts or that they're talking to each other.
In all fairness, this seems more like bloated previews based on simple features that were merely misinterpreted.

 

They could've simply just took some hints like casual pedestrian dialogue and two peds stopping and 'talking to each other' through a simple animation as full on talking.

Calling the police and seeing peds with phones sounds simply too advanced for a game of the sort that GTA 3 has been, in final as well as in its alpha/beta.

There's a lot more bloated stuff in the previews but I'm simply too lazy to go search for it right now. Never trust previews 100% unless something's mentioned over and over again in multiple previews with no links to each other.

Good catch Sergiu, R* tried implement a ped system like GTA IV (I don't remember very well if in IV the peds call to the police) and GTA V but in GTA III.

I think you are looking to far for peds calling the police. I remember one time this happened to me in Mafia 1, which was released around the same time as GTA 3.

Mafia 1 was a lot more advanced than GTA3 at the time. Specifically due to Mafia being more of a cinematic experience than a game.

Wouldn't exactly compare it to that.

The previews can be fake. When i first found the ped system preview thingy i thought it was genuine. Sergiu's debunk seems more realistic.

As far as I know, this doesn't happen in normal Mafia 1 gameplay. There is a scripted event in the mission "Omerta" where a pedestrian will call the cops on you, but that's the only event I remember where a ped calls the cops.

Especially the car driving realism :D.

 

As far as I know, this doesn't happen in normal Mafia 1 gameplay. There is a scripted event in the mission "Omerta" where a pedestrian will call the cops on you, but that's the only event I remember where a ped calls the cops.

To be honest I don't remember when this happened. I remember I hid myself near a car and just surprisingly watched how a ped walked into the phone booth and then some cops appeared. But anyway, it was possible to do in 2002.

I just played III with a low framerate,and so , the LODs popped a little longer than normal. At that time,I went to the docks.And I noticed LOD for Import-Export Garage is the same as some of the buildings in Atlantic Quays. (Like Vincenzo's)

I have question about this photo. Look at the drivers window.

Is it driver's head laying on steering wheel? Or are these just his hands? Or maybe it's a bullet hole in window?

They're his hands. The smoke/trails and bullet particles as well as the broken window (a clusterf*ck, quite literally) made it look like that. :p

For instance, here is unique shot, which wasn't featured in the Bradygames guide with grey Mafia Sentinel

I wonder if that image is present in the PC guide. Probably not. I also wonder if the images not used in the final print of the BradyGames guides are kept in an archive somewhere.

That's what I was looking for some months ago! It looks white though, not grey

 

 

Looks like they had just slapped a body kit onto the Sentinel and hadn't given the parts a proper shaded texture yet. I wouldn't call it an intentional design choice, personally.

 

The lighter gray color though? My theory is that they darkened the Sentinel due to the shade of gray being too close to that of the roads.

 

 

Also. Very minor, but this looks like a texture rendering bug;

Definitely not an artifact from a low quality picture, as it's present in both images.

Yes while they were making the game they filled unused texture space on the main vehicle textures with that green color. Because the UV mapping isn't perfect the coulors could bleed a little Around the edges. They filled all the green parts to black before the final release to prevent this.

yep, and I would suggest looking through the Xbox files aswell, since i found the debug scm in Vice City's xbox files

I am actually going to do that later today. thanks for the heads up :)

alright, didnt know it was talked about, I havent really been in the GTA III beta finding loop.
