Cool Things You Didn't Know About GTA III

There is a typo on Lips 106's header in the game's manual in the soundtrack credits - it's written as "LIPS RADIO DJ", at least on the original PS2 version

Has anyone tried to jump with a car into the crusher (literally jump from a ramp or something or fly the Dodo or using some cheats, not glitch halfway into the car and get dragged into the crusher to your miserable death as a punishment for performing the Crusher Glitch wrong and letting go of CAPS Lock at the wrong time)

Nah nah nah Gta 6

I tried this on mobile But I didn't know you couldn't jump into the crusher without using cheats or mods, I got the van nearby and went behind that generator thing or whatever it's called, jumped on that and jumped inside the crusher, where Claude has a 100% chance of getting a heart attack.

Well then, I guess that's why they used it in the LCS mission 'Salvatore's Salvation' to kill Salvatore

The crusher crane goes into "idle" mode by rotating back and forth when you are far enough away.

Good find, Spaceeinstein. Speaking of Cranes, the Port Cranes also move if I recall. :)

Fascinating to think that Rockstar more than likely has HD versions of all textures used in the 3D era games. Very nice find!

I don't think they have them. GTA III was designed for the PS2 initially and there's no reason to think that the artists drew them in HD and then scaled them down. It's also worth noting that textures aren't that hard to remake.

The texture in question was very likely designed by an illustrator and thus probably drawn in a vector graphics format so the original image is scalable to any resolution.

I used a ghost car to drive inside the Car Crusher and Claude died automatically... I guess it's programmed to kill everyone and everything then. Does it work like this on LCS?

Has anyone ever tried landing a Dodo onto the EV crane ship after collecting all the EV vehicles? Park your Dodo under the magnet and the crane will lift the Dodo and place it on the ground.

I have found out that there are some missions (most notably from the beginning of the game) that offer bonuses, for example:

-The Fuzz Ball (delivering all girls will give you $2000 bonus, this is known by most of people)

-Cipriani's Chauffeur (killing the 4 triads at laundry gives you bonus $2000)

-Dead Skunk in the Trunk (killing the Forelli mobsters that chase you during mission will give you $10000 bonus each)

-The Getaway (if all 3 robbers survive, you get $30000. HOWEVER it is also possible when they enter in bank to glitch out and few of them will die randomly and because of that you won't get all money)

-Trial by Fire (killing the triads at baseball court will give you $6000 bonus)

-Big'n'Veiny (collecting all magazines will give you $10000 bonus)

EDIT: Fixed Big'n'Veiny bonus, thanks spaceeinstein!

-Big'n'Veiny (collecting all magazines will give you a bonus, though not sure how much)

+$10000 for all 106 picked up

There are mistakes in the Steam version manual:

- Under the tracklist of Rise FM the you can see the label (where the tracks were released) Generation Records written without the "s" at the end

- K-Jah radio has the same tracklist as Rise FM

Other nice things you can add:

- You can hear dog sounds coming from inside the Bitch'n'Dog factory

- There are 4 homeless people in the tunnel under Saint Mark's and you can use Bobcat or Cartel Cruiser to multiply them. Check this video I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExXyE_thiW8

- You can actually shoot and destroy the full winged Dodo that flies around Liberty City. You will get wanted level 4 right after that. Video (made also by me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SADZQEC7-4s&index=4&list=PL357A1AA32301F7FA

I have read on Grand Theft Wiki about these bonuses before attempting missions (with exception of Cipriani's Chauffeur where I had to do this mission twice because even though I killed 2 or 3 triads on laundry, I found out later that I had to kill 4 of them, that was before I read about bonuses on wiki) and this mission didn't have bonus listed on wiki, so that's why I didn't list how much money you get for collecting all magazines, though I do remember now you get $10000. I also had to redo this mission twice because first time I missed a magazine without knowing but then I thought "What if I try to make sure this time I collect all magazines, do I get a bonus?" and then after collecting last magazine I heard a beep, which means I got the bonus. Thanks for correction. :^:

The 'range' for vehicle missions is still in effect, you have to use a trainer to go REALLY high in the sky, then it says you're out of range.

Tried that, but the game doesn't bring up the "ambulance/firetruck/police radio is out of range" message, at least for me. A video that shows how the trick works would be useful.

You might as well mod the game if you want to use a trainer. The message only appears if all three islands failed to load, which shouldn't happen during gameplay.

Nice finds, it's awesome the mistakes of the Steam version manual.

Also, this two things are very well known since the release of the PS2 version in 2001, a very long time ago. But thanks anyway. :^:

Sure, they are well known as well as many others posted here. I just mentioned them because they were missing in the main post :)

My bet would be that it was initially planned to confine the Vigilante missions to their own islands where they were triggered. For example, you start the Vigilante missions in Portland, but if you cross the bridge to Staunton, this message would have appeared.

Makes sense considering that Vigilante missions need to be completed 20 times on each island!

Also, had no idea about the dog noises from the Bitchin' Dog Food factory. Considering animals (excluding birds) were practically non-existent in the GTA universe until GTA V, I do find this quite fascinating!

Has texture but is white color, or I'm wrong?

You're right, the "escape" helicopter has exact same textures as the police helicopter, though its color is defined as black, and will appear as so when you open that "escape" helicopter in a garage editor:

I know this isn't really the right thread for this, but I love how on the mobile version you can walk. Claude walks like a damn boss.

You can walk on PC version too - just plug in a controller with analog steering ;]

On every version of GTA III you are able to walk.

Weather in GTA III is predetermined. The order of the weather is this: sunny → cloudy → rainy → cloudy → sunny → cloudy → foggy → cloudy → sunny → cloudy → sunny → cloudy → rainy → cloudy → rainy → cloudy → sunny → foggy → sunny → rainy → cloudy. After that it goes back to the beginning of the list and starts the cycle again.

Interesting, is this weather pattern hard-coded somewhere or did you figure it out by observation?
