Thinks it's already been posted, though i'll list all the changes :evilgrin:

  • No stadium
  • Bigger airport (actually an airbase)
  • No bridge in the golf course
  • No beach area in Downtown, same for Vice Port
  • Vice Port having some sort of waterway, as well as less roads

Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas! :santa:

Also, does anyone know why Pastor Richards was cut?. I know about his voice actor passing away, but a thread on here confirms that's not the case :blink:

These were some of the very first screenshots ever released for VC. I can actually remember the day came out with everyone analyzing them online. Such a tremendous wave of nostalgia with these.

The lights are exaggerated by the Mental Ray renderer in 3DS, as it's clearly a render. In-game they'll always look more disappointing. :p As for the rooftop though, yeah those... are gone.

WOW those lights on the render just fit the architectural deco aspect of the building of both the malibu and the condomium rooftop. I guess what R* wanted was actual neon light pipes on the lines of the buildings. That Malibu render just screems excess and glamour.

It is typical for renders to look much better than the game, as they're just "beauty shots", especially back then, as effects like bloom and such would bring any GPU to a halt easily.

Sorry for the bump, but do you guys think "Ram Raid" was beta name for "Shakedown"? It's mentioned on the footer of the Vice City guide's section of Shakedown (where the mission name would be displayed)

Yeah, Its a glitch. I think it could still be done. From what I remember, Go into cinema camera mode, on the a heli of course. Then, while there press R1 or L1 while pressing R3 and O. I believe it was like that, or without pressing R3.

You can do a drive-by from an helicopter because the Hunter, Maverick and Sparrow is listed as a car in the game files, except the Sea Sparrow of course, is listed as a boat if I'm not wrong.

According to islandsf (specifically, the islandLODBeach model), Mercedes' place didn't use to have a helipad - in its place was a walkway, and ramps.

 

Whilst recreating this for my beta mod, I went there and discovered a freeway spawn, under a corner of the helipad.

Upon looking at the SCM, it turns out a freeway does spawn there - however, my guess is it just drops to the abyss due to there being a helipad in the way.

 

The line I found in the SCM:

 

027984  014B: $1938 = init_car_generator #FREEWAY -1 -1 force_spawn 0 alarm 0 door_lock 0 min_delay 0 max_delay 10000 at 301.2 265.6 15.3 angle 278.4

That's because the bone and skeletal framework on characters is different between III & Vice City. The GTA LC Team has spent a lot of time converting the III animations to Vice City over the decades for the LC port and are yet to get it working properly for cutscene heads. Not wanting to discourage you but try posting in the III Era Modding Section maybe and someone may be able to help you out.
