Beta Vice City

I found the beta model of the Deluxo. :lol:

It originally looked more like the DeLorean at the back, and was originally intended to be a civilian car. The spoiler looked different, too.

At 8:15, you'll see a white Deluxo, meaning that the Deluxo was originally intended to be a civillian car, rather than a "special" one.

Thats a good set of wheels there Mr love. But it looks like they are GTA III wheels more than GTA VC.. :)

 

My favourite wheel is the first one, which is actually a Honda alloy, if you look more closely.

Remember: these are the days Rockstar weren't too bothered about breaking copyright laws, considering they were unheard of until GTAIII became popular.

That's the wrong texture by the way, you're using Kent Paul's final texture over his beta model, his beta texture (which should fit the model) still remains in the files afaik, but I may be wrong; I haven't looked at the Vice City files in a long time.

Are you sure?. I checked here: http://tcrf.net/Grand_Theft_Auto:_Vice_City and it says it's his beta texture :yawn:

Deformed Kent Paul: Labeled as kentpaul.dff. Self explanatory. A different model is used.

 

I don't see any mention of textures other than it's "badly textured". Turkey.

Perhaps R* had them in the beta. The Safehouse and the Bikers Bar were replaced and I think that the Radio Station icons had no use at all.

 

They were in the beta, you're right.

 

Why was VCN (Vice City News) removed during development, and I mean the station?.

After a lot of texture editing, I managed to make Kentpaul's texture fit (a lot of things edited on him, though), seeing as there's no original texture of him.

It's an unfinished model, what do you expect? Finished ones will always look better.

 

You are totally right. Many people want to bring back the beta stuff not because it is so ugly(unpolished) but instead because they develop it further as if it was in the finished game.

 

If you have idea A(beta) and idea B and develop idea B much further than idea A, then of course idea B will shine more than idea A. What people don't get is that idea A wasn't developed as far as idea B and has a complete different appeal over all. If both were developed to 100% maybe more people would prefer idea A.

 

You can see that perfectly with beta Tommy. Beta Tommy with the dark blue shirt has the same quality as the skin used in the finished product.

Now if you had to decide between the dark blue shirt and the light blue shirt (both developed very well) your decision would be fair.
