Where abouts in the UK are you, I'm in Scotland and up here we've got neds in stock VW Golfs thinking they're track material. There's this one guy that lives about 2 miles down the road from me, he drives a 91 CR-X Del Sol and seems to think that all the looks he gets are good ones when in reality his car would even leave GiantsGiants in disgust. Ikr.. well I'm based in Cheshire and honestly it's the same deal here- 150HP VW Golfs, stock, with some new rims thinking their the sh*t and can make a great sound when the foot goes down.. not many Civics, mainly Fiesta STs with shtibox exhausts, slammed and are slow as f*ck. Aside from that is a bunch of Zafiras- I kid you not- I see like two Taxi Zafiras with these similar rims to them: Basically disgusting. I even found some businessman who floored his 320i estate to impress us as I walked home and it sounded like a tortured rabbit. The only Japanese scene cars we get are stock Subaru STi's, never seen any Skylines around ever.. depressing as this is what I've got to look forward to in a years time? The only Japanese scene cars we get are stock Subaru STi's, never seen any Skylines around ever.. depressing as this is what I've got to look forward to in a years time? I live in the Rutherglen/Cambuslang area and I've seen my fair share of ugly Corsa's, Saxo's and Golf's but the one I mentioned above is a far cry from any ricer I've ever seen. This thing has everything from an ugly aftermarket body kit to stickers that show the companies that he wishes he could buy from, he's got a 'Greddy' sticker on each side right after the second pillar, a 'HKS' sticker on his rear bumper and big 'Yokohama' sticker on his front bumper I swear this thing makes me feel physically sick to my stomach whenever I see it. The sad thing is that the CR-X Del Sol is actually quite a nice car when stock and when it's modded correctly (under the hood of course) it can run great times on the track. In terms of actual Japanese sports cars, I've seen a few Subaru 22B's, one Skyline (It was an R33 , quite a rare sight), an Evo 9 and a 2000 Mitsubishi GTO. All were modified tastefully except the 22B I really wonder what was going through the owners head when he modified it, it has fake STI badges and everything from a custom hood scoop to a fart can. It makes me sad when I think about this sort of thing. When I was in my late teens I wanted a stock 2003 Golf for my first car, and I got it but I kept it stock until I could afford to do some work under the hood. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it before I could do anything to it, I had some issues with the flywheel and on top of that the springs got in such a bad condition that it just wasn't road safe anymore. Repairs were too expensive so I just decided to keep until the day I can afford to do some work on it. Edited December 9, 2014 by BigJoe_1

Do these same people know that the car could have been worth a lot of money? There is an increasing amount of people who just don't care about cars and let it go to sh*t. It's sad really. Not a lot of people take pride in their cars anymore. Even if I had something cheap I'd take good care of it. don ovdi' island
Why do people not take better care of their cars, especially classic/rare cars? Do these same people know that the car could have been worth a lot of money? Many times, people, especially old people, hold onto cars as a token of sentimental value -- they get to an age where the old man either: can't afford to restore the cars, cannot restore it himself due to declining health, or just doesn't want to restore it at all. Similarly, an old lady may hold on to a passed husbands car as a symbol of him, only when she gets too old to drive the car usually goes sits somewhere and rots away. There's also a line between a classic that needs serious restoration and a car that just cannot be saved. Though rare, some cars just cannot be saved. Im talking rust belt cars and stuff, where the entire frame and body is rotted away from rust so much you can see thru it, seized engines, etc.. makes it where it literally just isn't worth it to restore, even to the most dedicated car collectors. i read a story quite a few years back ago, where this guy literally had his classic car buried with him. (A mustang, IIRC). What a selfish and materialistic thing to do. he literally tried to "take it with him", but I got news for ya, you dont need a car once the soul leaves the body. The car was in perfect condition, ran, drove, and instead of leaving it to a family member, son, daughter, anyone who could of actually enjoyed the car, he ruins it by having it stuck in the ground next to his dead corpse. I think that's just as bad as letting a car sit and rot away. PSA to my family and dear loved ones: When I shall perish, please, keep my cars and drive them around, and enjoy them. If you can't enjoy them, or drive them at least once a week to keep them running, sell them to a caring new owner and make some cash for whatever you may want. but please, don't let them sit and rot. The GC8's however are something different, the ones I've seen are covered in stickers with fart cans duct taped to the back (not literally duct taped but you get the idea). BigJoe_1
^^^^I know I just mentioned that so you'd know that they hadn't messed about with the aspiration setup, One thing I hate to hear is an STI without a turbo or in my case a MKIV Supra without a twin turbo. At least some people know that they shouldn't ruin cars like that. However as common as they may be GC8's should still be cared for more than your average car, imo any first gen Impreza is a treasure, after the impact they had on the rally scene how could they not be.
