Svip
It's unfortunate that classics and significant cars are sometimes treated with disrespect and lack of care, and handled inappropriately. Today, I saw an image that disturbed me greatly. And I think the only therapy available to me, is to share the burden with the rest of you. As the topic title warns, this topic will contain strong imagery. That is a pile of discarded Citroën SMs, from a time where no one bothered to maintain them. This was obviously a bad call, as the prices for SMs (and CXs for that matter) are beginning to rise these days. If you too have seen a sad sight (like a pretty car left on the street to rut), please do share. We will all come out as stronger people. Most of the cars in NZ's wrecker's yards are old British, Japanese or Australian cars.

RoadRunner71
Shouldn't this stuff go in the sh*t car thread? Well, in any case, there's some rural village I often visit where there's some nice old Land Rover abandoned and which has already vines growing inside. I should take some pictures next time I visit the place, if it's still there...

No, this is for abandoned/non-running cars that are genuinely good/desirable cars, the sh*t car thread is for poorly maintained cars, ricers, and sh*tbox modification Edited October 26, 2014 by Marwin Moody Ninja_Gear

Before the thread was turned into a only ridiculous modifications recopilation some classics and "wrecks" were also posted, at least so did I as they fit in the OP's original description. I've seen more different threads being merged.

I've seen more different threads being merged. If you actually read his original description, it specifically says "but not like rust buckets that have been in grass for 30 years with no motor and wheels". His requirements specifically require the cars to be running. He did post some car wrecks, but none of those were tragic, as it was just boring cars in ditches. Besides, it's good to keep threads focused. That was his thread's initial problem, but it has found purpose now. But enough about other threads! This is for tragic wrecks. I wouldn't mind seeing a classic sighting in general recopilation thread though. Edited October 26, 2014 by RoadRunner71 mr quick
79'Blazer4x4
I always hate seeing nice cars that are left to rot like that. If I won the lottery pretty much all of the money would go toward restoring abandoned classics. And I could sell them to people, obviously not turning any kind of profit, but it would give me more money to restore more cars either way. As for the Lexus crashing into the car show, how does that even happen anyway? Those pics suggest it hit hard straight into the side like it drove straight at them, doesn't seem like any way it could've been a loss of control and slid sideways into them thing. But I guess sh*t happens, Either way I bet the Lexus driver got screwed by insurance for that one. Sad to see those restored cars wrecked like that though

Someone took a crap, used the car as toilet paper and left it there. Warning: viewers may experience blurred vision and tears. I personally don't care much about Supra's, but those muscle cars.. such a shame. I hope my Pontiac never gets wrecked. I swear if anyone ever crashes into it, i will wreck their face even worse. Male or female. no love for the Supra, oh well, everyone has a different car in their heart. As for the muscle cars seeing them in that state almost made me cry, especially the Daytona. What do you drive? I wouldn't blame you, right now I drive a factory 2003 Golf and I know they're nothing special but if anyone ever damages it they better pray that I get crippled in the crash. SouthLand
Seat 1400 The story behind this car is very interesting. What's the story? In the 1950's - 1970's in the region of Catalonia, Spain many people went to neighbouring country Andorra (a country without Taxes on any products you buy) bought tobacco and smuggled it back to Spain through cross country roads. Most of the smugglers got caught by the Spanish police except one of them (the owner of the car on the picture). Police ended up founding where he lived (a house in the middle of nowhere very hard to spot. When they raid the house he was not home, only his mother. When he came back, his mother told him, the police where looking for him, so he built a small garage next to his house and parked his car there. He left his house and nobody saw him again ever. Now a days the house is abandonded and the car is still there in pretty bad shape LightningLord

It is possible to paint realistic rust and stuff on models too, some even come like that out of the box. DriveLikeAViking and *MURDOC*

Now that you mention it, if you look for a while the cars look a little too small to be real size vehicles even if the picture was scaled down. This was the best one I could find though and real or not I think it captures the image perfectly, it shows what happens to classics throughout the years.
