New 27" screen suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hi guys... I have a 50" LED but I noticed gaming on a smaller screen it often much smoother (response time). I also have a 23" 5ms screen but want to grab a 27" screen for my work and for gaming (Ps4) as well. Not sure if I should get a IPS, 4K or something else. Do you have any recommendations ? I dont want to spend over 300 for this. Thank you!!!

I am not going to be much help but back in September I bought myself a 27' Samsung display.

Picked up this one, it's $359.99. I quite like it. The bezel is thin so you really do get the 27 inches and it's got a nice sleek look to it. No complaints.

It's not a 4K display or anything too special so that's why I said I may not be much help.

EDIT: My bad. I misread your OP, you said you do not want to spend over $300.

Best you can hope for in this price range is a Full HD monitor, which will be enough for PS4, but the resolution might be too low for work (brick-sized pixels might get annoying after a while). WQHD would be ideal, but it's too expensive.

Thanks for your suggestions!!.. I thought about it but I am actually better off waiting a little and get a 4K screen and a new laptop capable of displaying at that resolution... it will give me the extra room I need for work.

It's going to be a long while before a lappie can pull 4K resolutions at viable frame rates, with the limited focus AMD and nVidia have on this area at the moment. They should totally put more effort into getting some cost efficient 4K-capable cards out there, and the good monitors will follow.

The graphics processing power required to get playable gaming FPS at 4K is utterly immense. We're taking £1k+ worth of GPUs (2x GTX980) for even vaguely playable frame rates.

i wont be using it for gaming though except plugging a ps4 once in a while. It's gonna be for work... so probably macbook pro retina 13 + 4K 27" combo. That's well over my original budget :) but ill do that next year then
