Windows 8.1 (Pro?) - CPU Core Issue

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I recently upgraded from a Celeron 356 to a C2D Duo E6300 - Everything works great, it's faster, way faster than my older CPU. Although, I've noticed in Task Manager that Windows says I have only one core.. Now, I have done a search on Google and I tried some of the solutions. One was to run msconfig > boot > advanced options > change number of CPU cores.. but it doesn't work..

Device Manager says I have the two cores..

What can I do to solve this? I want to take advantage of my new CPU.

Detect HAL? Where do I find that?

IIRC, I saw "Debug" under "PCI Lock". I just turned it off for a while, but I will return to it shortly.

Would just like to report that I've just completed a fresh install of Windows 8 64-bit. This topic can be locked. Thanks :^:
