Completed the mission again today. First time I ever thought to go to the the top of the roof across the road from Luigi's and snipe him.

Same here. I never thought about sniping him from a rooftop until I saw the GTASeriesMissionsWhatever guy doing it.

The first time I completed it, I was probably like 8 years old, I drove a fire truck to Sal's house and parked against the wall from the outside, covering the entrance. Then parked a Mafia Sentinel near the truck so I could climb on top of it. Once the Salvatore and his henchmen came by in their Sentinels, they crashed against the truck and I started to throw grenades like a motherf*cker. It was a pretty succesful and fun technique.

OT: I always liked Sal, even before LC Stories came out. He betrayed me, so he had to go, but he was still a pretty cool guy. It's a shame we didn't get to work together any more.

I'm split, after knowing the game is partially inspired by the Godfather, movies I really enjoyed Sal being inspired by Vito Corleone, I didn't really want to kill him.

However, Claude is just a goddamn one man army, and it just prooves that you souldn't mess with this man.

And Asuka's job to kill Sal is an illustration of the loss of italian-american tradition (and culture in general) to a globalisation, which is mainly a consequence of the rise of China. Not only economy-whise speaking, but also cultural.

I arrived at the club in a banshee, ready for a quick getaway!

I waited patiently until he came out of the club then I nervously aimed at him with the sniper rifle and shot him directly in the head! Then I ran like hell when his bodyguards started to chase me! I got away in the Banshee car I arrived in!

That mission is my favorite on GTA III! I passed it 1st time!

No you don't fail the mission. In fact I never used the Sniper. My way of doing it was using an Armalite AR10 (it can be found in Bedford Point), and as soon as that bald prick's guards came out, I've blown their heads away, and when Sally himself came out, I torched him in his car. :die: you bastard, haha

Grabbed the M16 a few blocks away from Donald Love's building, start the mission, hide in one of the alley ways near Luigi's, wait until he leaves the club and drive off... Then proceed to fire like hell into his car until it catches fire and explodes.

I used to try block the entrance to his mansion with a large vehicle and then lob a few grenades at the convoy when it got stuck. It was always very satisfying. Thinking back, GTA 3 really was the first game ever (for me anyway) to let you decide how to get a job done. Look how far we've come.

First time I did that mission (I was going to 7th grade as far as I remember), I didn't know the soild strategy of sniping Sal. So I did find it pretty hard to directly attack on Salvatore's "pump-action shotgun"ed bodyguards. So I got a tank by using cheat, waited till Salvatore got out of the club, then BLAM!.. I blew Salvatore and his damn bodyguards to their intestines.

However my later playthroughs, I snipped Salvatore with rifle on roof oppositing the club's exit... the usual tactic. And I remember I somehow got into a Matrix mode, wiped Salvatore with Uzi and killed few of his bodyguards and ran away to the subway station. I think I had just left with six health or something, those guys are lethal. I couldn't believe I did that, it was like a deadly reaction.

If I have 100 packages collected, I assassinate him the same way as I assassinate everyone - nuked with a Rocket Launcher.

If I don't have 100 packages, I just use the classic Sniper Rifle.

I was a child the very first time I did it:

-Jacked a firetruck.

-Parked the firetruck against the entrance of Sal's house.

-Jacked a Mafia Sentinel and parked it against the firetruck from the inside (house's side).

-Used the Sentinel to climb to the top of the firetruck.

-Wait for Sal's arrival.

-Release a rain of grenades and run like a motherf*cker.

-Mission complete.

The first few times I played through GTA 3 I always stood down the street from the club by the Pay N Spray and sniped him from there before he reached the car, or shot him from the roof of the adjacent building. Anytime I play it now though, I do it like this.
