I'm onboard with Orangebrains on making IV next gen. Here's MXAO from reshade with iCE3. A few of these trees are only borrowed to see what the capabilities of what IV can do and some of these I made. Please do not ask for the release because things will change but the visual results will be the same. If those of who are interested in getting reshade with MXAO to work like this with IV, please let me know. (Keep in mind, AO in enbseries will run on top of MXAO so you may or may not disable it)

@BisonSales looks incredible! I am using MXAO and some other features from ReShade 3.1.0 too. At the moment, I am using NaturalVision MXAO settings, which I edited a bit to suit GTA IV but the result still isn't perfect... So, frankly, it would be great if you could share your MXAO setts.

Looks great, captain! I can share my MXAO settings indeed. The settings are a little "heavy" to make the AO in vegetation pop....but that can be adjusted in the reshade settings. I am also baking AO into the vertex color layer of the vegetation so no matter what ENB or reshade or sweetFX is used, it always gives nice depth.

@BisonSales I guess, my settings are heavier as I have 10 fps drop with ReShade enabled. :D This is the reason why I captured the gameplay video with 30 fps – the game ran only at 43-46 in some city areas so it looked quite laggy.

Thx T-ru for the compliments...and great screenshots from you.

 

Here are the steps to get reshade along with ENB to work with IV in any patch version:

 

1. Download reshade from https://reshade.me/

2. Open the folder where IV is installed and find d3d9.dll and rename that to d3d9_old.dll (or rename it to anything else other than d3d9)

3. Run the reshade installer and choose "select game" and find the gtaiv.exe in the root folder and then choose "Direct3d 9"

4. Download the shaders you would like to use in IV. (uncheck the ones you do not want and they will not be downloaded and installed)

5. Once installed, navigate to your IV install folder. You should see d3d9.dll and d3d9.ini along with a reshade-shaders folder if installed correctly.

6. Rename the d3d9.dll and d3d9.ini files to reshade.dll and reshade.ini

7. Open up the enbseries.ini file and at the top, Change this section to this and save:

[PROXY]
EnableProxyLibrary=true
InitProxyFunctions=false
ProxyLibrary=reshade.dll
8. Rename d3d9_old (or whatever you renamed this file) back to d3d9.dll
9. You're done! Profit nicely!
*A few bugs*
(If IV loads and has a weird washed out black and white screen at the menu....or....if it loads into the game and has a black screen or black screen with omni light spheres, just press alt+tab then....the windows key + D...then click on IV again and it will correct itself and reload the reshade shaders)

@T-ru yup, BisonSales is totally right. And in addition I could say that you can use dax1 files from his ENB if you want to get working SSAO on 1070/1120.

I can't recollect wich of his settings are the latest. Probably, these: https://yadi.sk/d/oVRJUctwP67en

 

1. Download an archive

2. Open the 'instal cfg files' folder

3. Copy 'ShaderOverDax1' folder, dax.dll and DX9Settings.ini into your GTA IV folder

4. Open up enbseries.ini and change proxy section to this then save:

[PROXY]

EnableProxyLibrary=true

InitProxyFunctions=true

ProxyLibrary=dax.dll

5. Open up DX9Settings.ini and change ProxyLib = fxaa.dll to ProxyLib = reshade.dll then save.

6. Profit

 

I didn't test Reshade with dax's1 shaders as I have 1040 patch, but I think it should work nicely... If not, then I don't know. :(

Anyway, actually there is no point in using MXAO simultaneously with SSAO/SSIL, so if Reshade and dax1's fix do not work together, you can always choose one from these two.

orangebrains, BisonSales Thanks for the quick replies! Keep up with the Great work! I was busy today bit now its time for tests :)

 

I want to add that I use enb 0.163; dax.dll; shaderoverdax (dax's shaders which are like bridge between gta4 shaders and enb 0.163) and the game stock shaders from 1.0.4.0 and 1.0.7.0 selected by dax.

 

My issue is that with this set (0.163 and dax stuff) everything is fine except that there is no night and rainy shadows, adaptation between interiors and exterior is too slow and the sun reflected on shadow's spaces.

 

To fix this issues, I returned deferred_lighting.fxc shader from 1.0.7.0 and boom everything is fixed and work except Ambient Occlusion (ssao/ssil), that's why I need some AO .
