Gramps
Hello fellow Tech Guru's; I hope I am posting this in the right section .. So I upgraded my ATi HD5770 to a PNY GTX770 4GB OC, and I'm getting worse performance with the Nvidia card, than I did with my old ATi? My current specs: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHZ 12GB 1600MHz I've tried a few different driver versions (334.XX, 340.XX, 344.XX) and all the same crappy performance. Tried playing with a few of the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel, but don't see any improvements. On a Vanilla game (only with ASI Loader and Widescreen Fix) playing @ 1080p I get 90FPS on my new card, which is roughly the same as my old one. On a modded game, with my new card I get less than 30FPS, when on my old card (same install of GTA:SA, same mods etc) I got 45FPS+. When using ENB, enabled/disabled doesn't seem to change my FPS, even though I'm using DoF and SSAO. FrameLimiter is Off as well. Also, spoke to a friend of mine who has the same card (different manufacturer), and he gets minimum 150FPS on Vanilla SA @ 1080p, and he is running the 344.XX driver, which I've also tried. Any help would be much appreciated. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/741944-gtx770-low-performance-on-gtasa/ Share on other sites
aStiffSausage
Though the difference between our cards is that I got Asus GTX-770 DirectCU II OC 2GB, and not PNY. Gramps
I also forgot to mention, that other games I have been playing (BF3, BF4, AC4 Black Flags), I get the right amount of FPS as others with the same card as me. pangoomis
Set DisableBuildingShadows to 1 in Shadow Settings Extender. Remember that SA can run differently run on AMD than on NVIDIA. And the processor is also crucial for good SA performance. Your friend has an Intel processor? aStiffSausage
I'm packing i5-4670k at stock 3.4GHz clocks. That shouldn't still affect the fact that Gramps' new GTX-770 is scoring lower frame rates on modded game when compared to his older HD5770. FriendlyPsychopath
What is your PSU atm? http://www.hwcompare.com/14711/geforce-gtx-770-vs-radeon-hd-5770/ Try to do a clean install of your nVidia driver,or borrow from one of your friends another version of SA Use CCleaner to remove all possible erros from the registry. if everything else fails format your system,download/install a clean version of GTA SA 1.0 and check again. Gramps
I have a 600W PSU. I've done a few clean installs of different versions of drivers. Uninstalled via Add/Remove Programs, and then restarted PC into Safe Mode, and ran DDU to make sure all remnants are gone. Use CCleaner religiously. And am planning on doing a format of my system soon (maybe this weekend, time permitting). Haven't formatted since I got Win7 Ultimate when it first came out. So my system could definately benefit from one. Go to SA and press Ctrl-Alt,check if there is any suspicious service running when SA is executed, otherwise only a system formation or a new game install will do the trick. Gramps
Well Windows 7 was released in 2009. So almost 5 years? I've been wanting to do a reformat for a while now, but it is quite a hassle. Just seen that nLite has a new version that supports Windows 7, NTLite. So this will cut the installation/update time by heaps So will prep this during the week, as well as making sure I've got everything backed up from my system partition. I should press Delete with the Ctrl+Alt too aye? lol. After you get your system clean and eveyrthing keep the same it must be a issue with your SA version,as you already said you are fine on all other games Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/741944-gtx770-low-performance-on-gtasa/?do=findComment&comment=1066317923 Share on other sites
