I going to say console limitations, modelling long hair is actually not that easy,it moves around. Maybe next gen will have improved characters and hair, possibly more control over height, size etc.

I personally think they were really limited as to what they could do on the old consoles.

They don't move at all, not even in single player. Nor in Max Payne 3.

 

Has nothing to do with console limitations. And next-gen will only be higher-res textures lol. There's a reason it's possible to transfer characters to next-gen.

By transfer characters, they might not actually mean our avatars, just our assets. I'm willing to bet there will be a character customization prompt upon entering Online, or at least asking if you want to change your appearance. Here's to hoping for revamped customization. I won't completely hold my breath though.

I'd be inclined to believe it's a console or graphical limitation... IF...the map wasn't populated with NPCs that have long hair.

 

The behavior of NPC's is predictable and therefore more easily able to be rendered in a hurry, whereas the server would have to account for every single strand of sixteen different heads of hair if players were allowed. Capes, layered cloth, furs, etc. all cause similar problems when rendering.I don't think anyone can expect perfectly rendered hair like you're talking about, but even a simple static mesh would be fine! It's not impossible at all, not even close.

Most likely texture/ clipping issues, also helmet not available do to hairstyle bulletproof helmet.

As far as crazy animation issues most video games use motion capture technology and this could be adapted to help with this. Blue dot facial capture red dot skeletal and white dot hair (root, middle end) we can all thank James Cameron's avatars emotioncapture for this.

Who truly knows, it could come down to console limitations or just difficult to pull off but i would to have long dreads for my guy and for my chick, long box braids.

You guys have too many hair styles. They need to add more black hair styles. I been using the same sh*t for some time now. Either the caesar, bald, or the slick back. They need to add high top fades, dreads, mini curly fro, wavy hair, hair with designs, etc.

Exactly. I'm tired of walking of walking around with Chief Keef dreads. Gimme some braids or a good-looking Afro.
