Krawk
Found a trick by accident during a gang war. Follow these steps to repeat what I have done; -Equip with a jetpack and fly where you want to go -Exit the jetpack -Start a gang war -Use manual aim on your gun (PC version is usually right mouse button) -Step onto your jetpack but do not exit manual aim mode-notice the jetpack disappears -Continue to manual aim and continue the turf war. You can also crouch, barrel roll etc as long as you continue to hold manual aim. Your gun will even reload if out of ammo but make sure you continue to manual aim -In a hairy situation? Release manual aim if you need to get away fast-now the jetpack activates and you can fly to safety Repeat the process and enjoy I did this on PC version. I would expect the console versions to be slightly more difficult to manual aim so the trick may not be as useful. I sort of discovered this by accident because a trick I like to do is start a turf war on high ground, fly to the bottom of a cliff and wait for the enemy to come and fall to their deaths. I do not see any such trick when googling so hopefully I am the one that made first discovery! Edited October 12, 2014 by Krawk
OrionSR
An awesome trick, but the strategy you have described has been my preferred and recommended strategy for completing 4-star gang wars in the Chain Game saves for quite a while. Even then it wasn't exactly my discovery. I adapted the method from the trick of holding aim and jumping into the water to hold off equipping the jetpack until CJ entered an undrowning zone. IMO, the primary advantage to the... unnamed jetpack trick is that CJ is immune to being run over and either helplessly crushed to death, or laid out flat at the foot of a cop and instantly busted -- the two most irritating ways to lose a lot of progress. Again, this is in the context of 4-star gang wars in LV and SF while the areas are still restricted. The end of the 3rd wave marks a sudden end to the relative calm of the actual war when the cops and traffic doesn't spawn. And of course that much needed armor CJ is camping is smack dab in the middle of the road. Pickup management is also important when running gang wars with the jetpack. All the dropped weapons, money, and spawned health and armor can rapidly clutter a pickup pool that can only recycle pickups that are currently active. A dropped jetpack is a very low priority pickup and is likely to be the first thing to vanish when CJ opens fire on the next wave - so get it on his back where it can't be taken away. Collecting as many of the gang war related pickups as possible is one way to reduce stress on the pickup pool, but what seems to help the most is retracing CJ's war path so all the expired pickups have a chance to wake up, realize their timer is way past due, and fully remove themselves from consideration in the pickup pool. Krawk
As many have noticed as well, if you are at the street level and have a jetpack, just jet forward (not UP) and you skim the surface of the street at a very high rate of speed. Pickups such as armor, weapons and cash still happen even with the jetpack enabled. Hell, even the hot dog vendor works while wearing the jetpack. Your dollar is taken, your health/fat increases but the eating the food animation does not happen. When I was working the strategy on the sherman dam, the enemy gang got a few lucky shots in, fortunately the vendor on the west side of the dam spawned and was able to serve the food. In a turf war situation with the jetpack picked up but not equipped, if you get in a situation, just think about doing the backstroke. Release aim, hit the increase altitude and reverse keys in succession to escape.
